While Samsung’s fight with Apple is well publicized, the Korean company is also fighting a patent skirmish with fellow Korean company LG. LG Display has asked a Seoul court to ban domestic sales of Samsung’s Galaxy Note 10.1, citing that it infringes on patents that LG holds. Samsung has allegedly violated 3 patents that LG possesses.
“Through this action, LG Display seeks to completely stop the sale, manufacture and importation of the infringing Samsung product,” the firm said in a press release. The company is also looking for compensation to the tune of 1 billion won (US$933,000) per day for non-compliance if they are victorious.
It seems that LG wants to get the Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet completely banned in their home country, which includes importation, retail and even manufacturing. Unsurprisingly Samsung has responded, with Shim Jaeboo, a vice president of Samsung Display, saying that the company didn’t infringe LG’s patents and it will respond to “unjustified claims” made by LG.
