Kaspersky Lab has just launched their flagship consumer products in the Philippines: the Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2014 and the Kaspersky Internet Security 2014, both made for the protection of the PC.

Both software programs add a host of new features to their core protection for files, emails, instant messages, web pages, and scripts. One of these improvements is Anti-Blocker technology, which enables users to enter a key combination to prevent ransomware—malware that locks down computers and requires the owners to pay a sum of money to be able to regain access to it—from blocking access to their machines.

Another feature found in both KAV 2014 and KIS 2014 is the ZETA (Zero-Day, Exploit and Targeted Attack) Shield, which is an in-depth scan of files and applications for locating malware that may be hiding within the individual components of each program on one’s computer. The ZETA Shield has the ability to scan files even as they’re being downloaded from the Internet.

KIS 2014, being the more advanced bundle between the two, has an additional new feature called the Trusted Applications Mode. With this function, the computer will only allow the launch of applications that are identified as safe, based on Kaspersky Lab’s Whitelisting database which contains over 700 million operating systems, browsers, image viewers, video players, games, and other applications.

KIS 2014 also upgrades two of its existing features: its Safe Money technology that keeps the user’s account and data protected when doing online transactions, and its Parental Control feature that lets parents determine when and how long children can use the computer, which programs they can run, and what information should be blocked from being shared on social networking accounts.

Both programs are available beginning this month at “leading IT stores nationwide”. The 1-user, 3-user and 5-user packages of Kaspersky Internet Security 2014 retail at PHP 1,160, PHP 1,980 and PHP 3,080, respectively. Meanwhile, the 1-user, 3-user and 5-user packages of Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2014 cost PHP 760, PHP 1,420 and PHP 2,120, respectively. A special sale is currently ongoing where a free extra license, valid for one year, will be included in each KAV 2014 or KIS 2014 retail box.
