After being leaked throughly before its official unveil, Nokia’s Lumia 920 is finally official. Seems like most of the leaks were spot-on: it’ll come bearing a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 4.5-inch display, wireless charging capability and is equipped with an 8.7-megapixel PureView image sensor. A 2,000mAh battery keeps everything nice and powered, the biggest Nokia has ever used in a phone. Naturally it’ll come with Windows Phone 8, along with all the services that that particular arrangement entails – navigation, music and Windows Phone apps.

Nokia claims that the Lumia 920 takes better pictures and video because of the PureView sensor, and claims that the 920 captures between 5 and 10 times the light of any other smartphone, thanks to its floating lens technology that surpasses the optical image stabilization of most SLRs. The overall result is brighter and clearer images without flash, even indoors. A bold claim, one that we’ll put to the test once we get our hands on one of these units.

Nokia is also introducing improved location based services into the Lumia 920, with the most prominent one being city lens. It’s an augmented reality app that works a bit like Layar for Android, and gives you a realtime overlay POIs and places you want to go.
