ASEAN-aligned plans outlined for Philippine Startup Week 2026

Following the successful conclusion of Philippine Startup Week (PHSW) 2025, the Innovative Startup Act (ISA) Committee—now chaired by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT)—has unveiled its vision for a more strategic, ASEAN-aligned PHSW 2026.

This year’s PHSW saw the formal turnover of the Innovative Startup Act (ISA) Steering Committee chairmanship from the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) to the DICT. Together with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the National Development Company (NDC), the Committee led a milestone edition themed around innovation, alliance, and national impact.

PHSW 2025 featured keynotes designed to inspire local innovators, with high-potential startups pitching technology- and business-driven solutions. Filipino ingenuity was recognized through awards and showcases, while opportunities flourished across the startup expo, networking sessions with local and international enablers, and community events nationwide.

The success of the country’s largest startup conference was driven by its 8 Main Conferences,  39 Community-driven Events, and the showcase of nearly 150 startups throughout the week. Designed to strengthen the Philippines’ innovation landscape, PHSW 2025 attracted almost 2,000 participants nationwide, with the main activities held at the Philippine Innovation Hub in Marikina from November 11 to 14.

With the Philippines set to assume the ASEAN Chairship in 2026, the ISA Committee, under DICT’s leadership, aims to elevate next year’s PHSW by aligning the country’s startup initiatives with broader ASEAN priorities in digital transformation, innovation, and regional collaboration.

As the Philippines prepares to assume the ASEAN Chairship, the ISA’s goal is to ensure Philippine startups are not only thriving locally but are also equipped to scale regionally and globally. PHSW 2026 aims to continue highlighting cutting-edge innovations, but at the same time foster cross-border collaboration, and create new opportunities for startups to connect with investors, corporates, and policymakers across ASEAN and beyond.

Guided by ASEAN’s regional theme, “Navigating Our Future, Together,” PHSW 2026 aims to strengthen cross-border collaboration across Southeast Asia’s innovation ecosystems by positioning the Philippines as a regional center for startup development.

Building on its legacy of bringing together government agencies, industry leaders, investors, academe members, development partners, and high-growth startups, PHSW 2026 will go beyond celebration to position Philippine startups as regional and global players. The event will highlight emerging technologies, showcase world-class Filipino ventures, and provide platforms for cross-border collaboration, investor engagement, and knowledge exchange across ASEAN. It will also focus on startups driving social impact, sustainability, and digital innovation, ensuring that the Philippine startup ecosystem remains competitive, connected, and globally relevant.

Isuzu Global Service Corporation marks 10th anniversary: A decade of developing world-class Isuzu truck service specialist

Isuzu Global Service Corporation (IGSC), one of the training and technical human resource development arms of Isuzu Motors Ltd. (IML) in the Philippines, proudly celebrates its 10th founding anniversary. Established in 2015 in Bacoor, Cavite, IGSC was created with a clear and critical mission: to strengthen Isuzu’s global service operations by developing highly skilled, technically capable, and globally competitive service mechanics specializing in Isuzu commercial vehicles.

Over the past decade, Isuzu Global Service Corporation has grown into a leading institution that provides advanced and specialized training programs designed by S-Class Isuzu engineers—programs that directly support both Philippine and global Isuzu dealer operations. According to the IGSC Mission statement, the organization develops Filipino engineers “who have mastered Isuzu’s unique skills and will contribute to a variety of manufacturer service operations,” utilizing English as their global advantage.

A Vital Extension of the Isuzu Heart and Smile Project (IHSP)

The creation of Isuzu Global Service Corporation is deeply rooted in Isuzu’s long-standing advocacy of education and empowerment through the Isuzu Heart and Smile Project (IHSP) in Tacloban. Graduates of IHSP who wish to pursue a deeper specialization in truck servicing are given the opportunity to apply to IGSC’s highly structured and selective program. Applicants undergo a multi-stage evaluation consisting of written examinations, interviews, and hands-on technical assessments. Those who successfully qualify are offered a comprehensive three-year employment and training engagement with IGSC.

The first seven months focus on intensive in-house technical training, covering the full breadth of Isuzu product knowledge, diagnostics, electrical systems, chassis and engine servicing, and advanced truck maintenance—following IGSC’s structured curriculum of more than 60 training modules and over 1,000 total training hours. After completing the in-house program, trainees move into a two-year deployment to IGSC partner companies, where they serve as service mechanics or service trainers and gain real-world experience essential to their professional growth. Their final three months focus on Nihongo language training, preparing them for possible overseas employment, particularly in Isuzu dealerships in Japan.

A Decade of Excellence, A Future of Growth

Now celebrating its 10th year, Isuzu Global Service Corporation has successfully produced more than 120 trained mechanics deployed to various Isuzu distribution networks around the world, including Japan, Dubai, and several key markets in Africa. IGSC’s company records highlight a strong and growing list of placements across both domestic and international operations, including Isuzu Motors Metropolitan Area, MSTC (Isuzu Motors Service Training Center in Japan), Isuzu International FZE (IIF) in Dubai, and various Isuzu dealerships throughout the Philippines. These deployments form part of IGSC’s expanding role not only in mechanic production but also in training, new model preparation, service manual development, dealer consulting and the provision of technical support services to elevate service standards within the ASEAN region and beyond.

Reflecting on IGSC’s 10th anniversary, President Fumihiro Ishii emphasized that IGSC’s success has always been rooted in its people — their dedication, passion, and commitment to serving with excellence. He shared, “For the past decade, IGSC has grown because we never stopped believing in the power and potential of people. Our mechanics, trainers, and partners embody the Isuzu Spirit — reliable, dedicated, and always striving to grow. Through these initiatives, IGSC remains a testament to Isuzu’s belief in Filipino potential and its long-term commitment to human resource development as a cornerstone of Isuzu’s global success. As we enter our next decade, we will continue developing future leaders, empowering more Filipino talent, and strengthening IGSC as a bridge between countries, generations, and aspirations.”

For many IHSP graduates, Isuzu Global Service Corporation represents a transformative opportunity. Through continuous study, practical deployment and rigorous skill development, trainees achieve a competitive advantage that enhances their employability and career trajectory. With specialized expertise in Isuzu truck servicing and exposure to international work environments, many graduates secure higher earning potential and access global career pathways. Mr. Ishii emphasized this impact, noting, “Our commitment goes beyond training — we invest in the dreams and futures of our IHSP scholars. IGSC will continue to support them as they work toward becoming globally recognized Isuzu service mechanics and trainers. Their success is our greatest achievement.”

As Isuzu Global Service Corporation enters its next decade, the organization is poised to strengthen its human resource development initiatives even further. Plans include enhancing overseas secondment programs, expanding technical and consulting support to global markets, developing more advanced training content for emerging Isuzu technologies, and continuing to produce highly skilled service personnel who play a vital role in the growth of Isuzu’s global service network. Through its work, IGSC stands as a testament to Isuzu’s belief in Filipino talent and its commitment to advancing skills development as a core pillar of Isuzu’s global strategy.

MVP Group leaders explore decision intelligence, ‘super creativity’ for AI-driven growth at annual corporate governance session

When the companies that connect, power, transport, treat, and serve Filipinos can confidently confront the future of AI, the potential positive impact will be massive and expansive. For this to happen, leaders of these companies must be prepared and skilled to use AI responsibly, safely, and for the public good. To this end, directors, advisory board members, and officers of companies led by Group Chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan gathered at the 2025 Annual Corporate Governance Enhancement Session (ACGES) at the Meralco Theater to explore how the MVP Group can embrace change and harness artificial intelligence (AI) to optimize decision-making and boost business growth.

The session, titled “Decision Intelligence and SuperCreativity: Leading in the Age of AI”, featured global experts Cassie Kozyrkov, Google’s first chief decision scientist, pioneer on decision intelligence, and founder and CEO of Kozyr LLC; and James Taylor, a leading authority on creativity and innovation who has guided Fortune 500 CEOs, entrepreneurs, and leaders from Silicon Valley to Dubai on how to design innovative organizations, unlock creative potential, and build sustainable futures. Kozyrkov and Taylor both shared insights on how AI can unleash new possibilities for leaders and organizations.

“We just can’t simply adopt a technology because it’s sexy or trendy. It’s a leadership question. At the end of the day, it’s like a pilot–the pilot is the one who manages the take-off, as well as the landing,” said Pangilinan, speaking to MVP Group directors, officers, and executives from the PLDT Group, MERALCO, Metro Pacific Investments Corporation, Philex Mining Corporation, PXP Energy Corp., Roxas Holdings, Inc., Maynilad, Asian Hospital and Medical Center, Metro Pacific Health, Metro Pacific Tollways, NLEX Corporation, Mediaquest Holdings, Makati Medical Center, Maya, Davao Doctors Hospital, Voyager Innovations, Kayana, mWell, and Cignal, who joined the half-day hybrid session.

Setting the tone for the session, PLDT director and chief operating officer Menardo G. Jimenez, Jr. stressed in his opening remarks that in his view, AI is different from previous tech trends. “When AI came into the picture, the first thing that came into my mind was, is this another tech fad? The answer is no. Absolutely not. AI is the real deal, not just because of how it can be applied in the corporate world, but because of how it can influence an individual’s life,” he said, adding that as the Philippines gears up to host next year’s ASEAN Summit, among the critical topics will be how AI can support the growth of countries in the region.

    AI is a leadership game

In her talk “Winning with AI: Embracing Change and Optimizing Decisions at Scale”, Kozyrkov underscored the importance of leadership in successfully implementing AI. “Now is not the time for absentee leadership. AI is a tool for decision-making, and how we make decisions around this technology is what matters most of all,” she said. “AI is a leadership game. If you don’t have skilled leadership involved, bad things happen. When you have skilled leadership, that is when you flourish.”

She also urged leaders to upskill their workforce, especially with the rise of generative AI. “We have to teach people one of the hardest skills: The skill of seeking advice. Today, personalized advice is abundant. That’s what generative AI gets you. As a result of all this, judgment will be priceless. Knowing whether you should take the advice, knowing what you should ask about—that is very important,” said Kozyrkov.

“Generative AI requires an organization that is filled with people with good judgment, because folks with good judgment are going to get great results out of it. And folks with poor judgment could be an organizational liability,” she added.

Kozyrkov also warned against ‘work slop’, which are AI-generated workplace content that look polished but are actually wrong outputs. “You must train your organizations, and you must tell them that just because something looks polished, doesn’t mean it’s right, and that it has to be the responsibility of whoever makes it to check it to be thoughtful,” she said. “The new skills are knowing what to ask about, knowing how to describe what you’re looking for, and knowing how to check whether what you needed is what you got.”

    SuperCreativity

Meanwhile, in his talk “SuperCreativity: Leading in the age of AI”, Taylor introduced the concept of ‘SuperCreativity’, which augments human creativity with AI capabilities. “Creativity is the engine of innovation. In the age of AI, your ability to augment human creativity with exponential technologies like AI will define success.”

Taylor emphasized the importance of AI governance in ensuring that AI systems deliver value while being transparent, fair, accountable and aligned with human values. “For all these rapid developments that are happening in artificial intelligence today, we need to ensure that we have not just the right products and services, but also the kind of AI right governance to help propel us into this new age in a safe and transparent way,” he said.

Culture, according to Taylor, is also crucial to the successful implementation of any AI strategy. “You may have a great AI strategy, but if you don’t have a culture that supports that, you’re going to waste time and money,” he said, adding that to build this culture, four skills would be the most valuable in the AI era: Collaboration, creativity, critical thinking and communication.

Taylor also warned about what he calls the “competency penalty”, which has hindered many workers from using AI for fear that it will make them seem less competent. “To fix this, companies must spotlight role models–how are respected leaders in your organization using artificial intelligence? Focus on outcomes, not pure metrics.”

Panel: How AI is reshaping industries

A dynamic panel moderated by Roby Alampay, PLDT public engagement group and corporate communications head, featured Kozyrkov, Taylor, and industry leaders Blums S. Pineda, PLDT SVP and head of enterprise business group; Rocky D. Bacani, Meralco information, communications, technology and transformation head and Kayana chief technology officer; and Angelo S. Madrid, Maya Bank director and president. They tackled how AI is reshaping industries like telco, power and fintech, as well as discussed the need to anchor AI initiatives on clear business problems and challenges, but to also raise the bar for growth and other transformative outcomes.

Pineda, who has been recently appointed as PLDT Group AI Business Lead, said his mandate is not just to build the foundation but to potentially transform the way we operate, as well as to find new areas of growth for the group. “In the end, it’s going to be about transformation and the leadership that it takes to aim for that. And what we have seen from AI is that it can really impact and accelerate that transformation when leveraged expansively.  There is a lot of work to do.”

Bacani highlighted that AI can only deliver real value when the foundations are in place, summarized as AID: Application, Infrastructure, and Data. Without clear use cases, the right systems, and reliable governed data, AI remains experimentation rather than transformation.

Madrid emphasized AI’s essential role in scaling trust and protecting customers in a fully digital environment, especially in the fintech space.

The Annual Corporate Governance Enhancement Session is a flagship program of the MVP Group that brings together directors and officers to strengthen governance practices and explore emerging trends shaping business leadership. Now in its 19th year, ACGES continues to serve as a platform for learning and collaboration among the Group’s companies.

    nubia V80 Design reviewed

As the holiday season approaches, I got my hands on the nubia V80 Design, a budget-friendly phone that has been making waves online. The big question: Is it worth treating yourself, or gifting to someone special this year? Here is my full take on what this phone has to offer.

    Design: 3/5

Most tech reviewers and even casual users like to point out how the nubia V80 Design looks “flagship-like” because of its similarity to the iPhone 17. The flat sides, matte finish, and familiar camera layout make it easy to mistake for something more premium.

But personally, that is where it lost me. Its iPhone-inspired look does not make it feel premium; it makes it feel cheaper. When a phone tries too hard to imitate another brand, especially one far more expensive, it gives me an ick. I prefer devices that establish their own identity instead of mimicking someone else’s. But then again, that’s just me.

So, giving credit where it is due: the phone is slim, lightweight, and comfortable to hold. The matte back looks clean, though it picks up fingerprints easily and can feel slippery; a clear case is practical both for grip and protection. Ports are complete (USB-C, 3.5 mm jack, dual SIM, microSD), and the side-mounted fingerprint sensor is well-placed. The polycarbonate body feels budget, but nothing unexpected for the price point.

    Hardware: 4/5

For its price tag, the nubia V80 Design delivers solid hardware. Its 6.75-inch IPS LCD with a 120Hz refresh rate makes scrolling and navigation smooth, and brightness is decent for outdoor use. The catch: it is only HD+, so sharpness takes a hit and images do not look as crisp as on Full HD panels.

It runs on a Unisoc T7280 processor with either 4GB or 8GB RAM, plus a very generous 256GB of storage (expandable). Light usage is fine, but heavier apps and gaming will push it to its limits. The 5000mAh battery is a highlight, easily lasting a full day, and the 22.5W charging gets it back up quickly.

Audio comes from a single bottom speaker that is serviceable but lacks depth. Cameras are also serviceable: a 50MP main shooter, 2MP depth sensor, and 16MP selfie cam that perform best in daylight. Low light exposes its weaknesses, with noticeable noise and softness. There is no ultrawide lens, no stabilization, and video maxes out at 1080p at 30 fps.

    User Experience: 3/5

In day-to-day use, the V80 Design performs smoothly enough. Social media, messaging, browsing, video watching, and light gaming all run without major issues, and the 120Hz refresh rate helps the phone feel more responsive.

The AI features advertised are basic; the processor simply is not powerful enough for heavy AI tasks, but the simple enhancements do their job for casual use. Software is straightforward, storage is abundant, and battery life is reliable, making the device easy to live with, especially for non-heavy users.

    Value: 4/5

At PHP5,799 for the 4GB/256GB variant and PHP6,499–PHP7,299 for the 8GB/256GB model, the nubia V80 Design is a practical budget phone that offers a large display, long-lasting battery, generous storage, and solid everyday performance. Personally, I would use it as a secondary or backup device, but its features and affordability make it an excellent gift for students, first-time smartphone owners, and casual social media users.

With its complete ports, expandable storage, and reliable battery, it delivers great functionality at an accessible price.

    Bottomline

Is the nubia V80 Design a good gift this holiday season? Absolutely, especially for everyday users who value practicality and style. It hits the essentials: a smooth 120Hz display, long-lasting battery, massive storage, and a clean, premium-inspired design that stands out among budget phones. It is a versatile choice for students, casual users, or anyone looking for a dependable secondary device.

While it will not satisfy those seeking top-tier cameras, Full HD displays, or 5G connectivity, the nubia V80 Design delivers a reliable, functional smartphone experience without stretching your budget. It is an easy recommendation for anyone looking for a practical and appealing gift this season.

    Specifications:

    • Display: 6.75-inch IPS LCD, 120 Hz, HD+ (1940 × 900)
    • Processor: Unisoc T7280 octa-core
    • RAM/Storage: 4 GB or 8 GB + 256 GB (expandable)
    • Cameras: 50 MP rear + 2 MP depth; 16 MP front
    • Battery: 5000 mAh, 22.5 W fast charging
    • Connectivity: Dual SIM, microSD, 3.5 mm jack, USB-C, side-mounted fingerprint sensor

    What’s Hot:

    • Expandable storage
    • Large, fast-charging battery
    • Stylish design and solid everyday performance
    • Great value for budget buyers

    What’s Not:

    • Single bottom speaker
    • No 5G support

Test Drive: Subaru Crosstrek 2.0 i-L EyeSight

Crossovers have become the go-to choice for many Filipino families, offering SUV practicality in a compact and manageable package. The Subaru Crosstrek—formerly the XV—has long struck that balance between city comfort and weekend adventure. I spent a few days behind the wheel of the Crosstrek 2.0 i-L EyeSight around Metro Manila, packed it full for a trip to Clark, and pushed further up the TPLEX to see if it still carries the Subaru DNA that drivers look for in a versatile crossover.

    Design: 4/5

    Crosstrek

The Crosstrek projects a rugged yet refined presence. A bolder grille and sharper LED headlights give it a tougher face, complemented by chunky wheel-arch cladding and stylish 18-inch alloys. It looks equally at home in Makati’s CBD as it does heading north for a weekend escape.

Inside, the 11.6-inch vertical touchscreen dominates the dashboard. It handles both infotainment and climate controls, with a clean layout that just takes some getting used to if you prefer traditional buttons. Cabin materials feel solid, leather seats are supportive, and rear space is decent for two adults. On my Clark run, the cargo area easily swallowed weekend bags, sports gear, and a cooler, with room to spare once the rear seats were folded.

    Hardware: 5/5

Power comes from a 2.0-liter flat-four Boxer engine paired with Subaru’s Lineartronic CVT, producing 154hp and 196Nm. On paper, the numbers are modest, but on the road, the Crosstrek feels capable for both city driving and highway stretches. The Boxer’s low center of gravity adds stability, while the CVT’s simulated gear steps keep acceleration smooth.

The real standout is Subaru’s Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive. Unlike most rivals that are primarily front-wheel drive, the Crosstrek drives all four wheels full-time. On NLEX and TPLEX, stability was reassuring even during high-speed overtakes, and on rougher provincial roads, traction was never in doubt. With 220mm of ground clearance plus X-Mode for tricky terrain, it confidently handled bumps, gravel, and shallow floods.

Even more telling was how it performed under heavy rain. On waterlogged expressway stretches, the Crosstrek never felt nervous. Instead, it proved its sure-footedness and balance, maintaining composure with confidence-inspiring grip—exactly the kind of reassurance you want when the weather turns unpredictable.

    User Experience: 4/5

In Metro Manila, the Crosstrek’s compact size and light steering make it easy to weave through traffic. The suspension finds a sweet spot between comfort and control—absorbent without being floaty. Even loaded with cargo on the way to Clark, it maintained composure, while at highway speeds, the cabin remained calm and stable.

Subaru’s EyeSight driver-assist suite is a real asset on long drives. Adaptive cruise control took the stress out of the TPLEX run, lane-departure and pre-collision braking added safety, and its 360 All-View Monitor made parking in crowded stops less of a chore. Passenger comfort is another strong point, with supportive front seats, rear vents, and large windows that give the cabin an airy, open feel.

    Value: 3.5/5

At around PHP 1.99 million, the Crosstrek 2.0 i-L EyeSight competes in the premium compact-crossover space. While some rivals boast more power or flashier designs, Subaru makes its case with usability, long-term reliability, and all-weather AWD confidence.

Fuel economy was respectable: 9–11km/L in Metro Manila and up to 15km/L on TPLEX. Subaru’s expanding service network in the Philippines also makes ownership more convenient than before.
And with the brand’s current promo, every purchase of a Crosstrek 2.0 i-L EyeSight comes with a FREE GT Kit Upgrade (until supplies last) —giving it an added dose of sportiness and flair. It’s also available with an all-in downpayment of just PHP28,000, making it even easier to bring home this well-rounded crossover.

    Bottomline

The Subaru Crosstrek 2.0 i-L EyeSight isn’t about outright power—it’s about balance. City-friendly dimensions, practical cargo space, highway composure, advanced safety tech, and Subaru’s hallmark AWD come together in a crossover that feels secure in any condition.

Even in heavy rain, it stood out—proving its sure-footedness and balance while maintaining stability and driver confidence. For anyone looking for a compact crossover that can handle Metro Manila traffic, weekend trips, and unpredictable weather, the Crosstrek delivers with quiet capability and outstanding value.

Toyota Motor PH officially launches bZ4X BEV: Fearless energy, multiple possibilities

Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) has officially launched the all-new bZ4X BEV with the release of units to the first customers.

The all-new bZ4X is TMP’s first Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) under the Toyota brand, further boosting its full electric lineup, which was previously comprised of the Lexus RZ and the Lexus UX.

Guided by its multi-pathway approach to carbon-neutral mobility, TMP has been laying the groundwork for electrified mobility in the country since introducing the Prius Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) in 2009. The mobility company now offers the widest range of electrified vehicles (xEVs) in the country, with 22 electrified models across its Toyota and Lexus brands, providing customers with different needs with various options.

    bZ4X

The all-wheel drive bZ4X is powered by a 73.11kWh Lithium-ion battery and dual motors with a front output of 227PS and rear output of 120PS, and a front torque of 269Nm and rear torque of 170Nm. It records up to 570km of EV range (Based on United Nations Regulations101. Actual consumption and range will vary based on conditions and driving habits). Drive modes include Eco and X-Mode.

The bZ4X features an angular exterior design, LED headlights, 20-inch alloy wheels, and a panoramic moonroof. It has a ground clearance of 200mm and seats up to five people. The power back door with kick sensor provides ease of access for loading and unloading of items into the cargo space.

Inside, the seats are clad in synthetic leather, with generous second-row space for passengers. Both front and rear seats have built-in heating, while the front seats also have ventilation. Additionally, the driver gets an eight-way power seat that can be adjusted based on memory settings.

For functionality, the bZ4X has a 7-inch Digital Meter Cluster and Multi-Information Display, 14-inch Display Audio with Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual wireless charging ports in front, and USB Type C chargers in the front and rear.

The all-new bZ4X is equipped with the latest Toyota Safety Sense with Pre-Collision System (PCS), Automatic High Beam (AHB), Adaptive High Beam System (AHS), Lane Tracing Assist (LTA), Lane Departure Alert (LDA), and Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC). Blind Spot and Panoramic View Monitors, and a Digital Inside Rearview Mirror further assist drivers by providing additional visibility of the road.

Every purchase of the bZ4X comes with a free wall box charger and a portable charger.

“It takes time and strategic planning to roll out what we call our multi-pathway approach to carbon neutral mobility, which involves customer education and preparedness, and providing technologies and solutions that are most appropriate for the market’s needs. From building up our widest lineup of Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEVs) and introducing Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs) through our luxury brand Lexus, we believe we’re ready to make BEVs more mainstream with the Toyota bZ4X, especially with Filipino users’ better understanding of EV technologies and power mix along with improving charging infrastructure,” shared TMP first vice president for vehicle sales operations Elijah Marcial.

Asked why they decided to purchase the Toyota bZ4X, a customer who signed up during the reservations period shared, “A lot of my friends are getting [battery] electric and hybrid cars. I saw the advantages since I spend so much on fuel. I commute daily from Quezon City to Caloocan City, and even Nuvali [Laguna] three times a week. In Nuvali there are a lot of charging stations and during the weekdays most of them are available, so I don’t feel any range anxiety.”

“It’s hard to bet on new players in the market. I’ve been a Toyota owner since the ‘80s, so I’m confident with their service and parts. When we get a car, [my family] doesn’t resell, so for sure [the bZ4X] will be [with us] for the long run,” another customer shared.

The all-new bZ4X comes in one variant and is available at PHP2,699,000 for the Dark Blue Mica/Attitude Black Mica colorway, PHP2,714,000 for the Platinum White Pearl Mica/Attitude Black Mica colorway, and PHP2,719,000 for the Precious Metal/Attitude Black Mica and Emotional Red/Attitude Black Mica colorways.

Interested customers may already take the fearless leap with the Toyota bZ4X at the following dealerships: Toyota Alabang, Toyota Commonwealth, Toyota Global City, Toyota Mabolo Cebu, Toyota Makati, Toyota Manila Bay, Toyota Mandaue South, Toyota North EDSA, Toyota Pasig, Toyota Quezon Avenue, Toyota San Fernando, and Toyota Santa Rosa.

foodpanda treats holiday commuters with ‘We Gotchu Stops’

This holiday season, foodpanda Philippines is playing Santa Claus for weary commuters with pink “We Gotchu Stops” across the city. If you’ve been out and about lately, you might have spotted some bright, super-helpful installations popping up in key commuter hubs around Metro Manila.

Commuting in the city is already tough. Add the holiday rush, and it’s practically impossible to get around. But imagine getting an unexpected helping hand right when you need it most.

foodpanda has installed “We Gotchu Stops” with special vending machines that are giving away commuter must-haves for free. Stocked with essentials like drinking water, facial tissue, sanitizer, hand fans, and other quick-help essentials, this is a truly practical giveaway and an instant mood booster, amidst long queues and crowded terminals.

The foodpanda vending machine recently popped up in One Ayala Terminal, a nonstop commuter hub in the city’s financial district. More stops are coming soon, including a setup at the World Trade Center for the World Bazaar.

At PITX, another massive commuter hub, foodpanda has put up a free charging station, ensuring that travelers stay connected to their loved ones, or simply entertain themselves during those long terminal waits.

For a quick pause from the holiday rush, there are also these cute Pau-Pau benches in select malls and busy holiday spots in the city, such as Star City, Market Market, Circuit Makati, Greenfield Central Park, and more.

    We Gotchu Stops

These small but thoughtful installations offer comfort exactly where holiday stress tends to build. Simple as they are, these touches offer real relief—small reminders that someone thought about what people might need in the middle of the rush.

Each pink stop quietly reassures anyone passing by that foodpanda sees them, understands the chaos of the season, and most of all—they gotchu.

    vivo V60 Lite reviewed

vivo’s mid-range V-series has always managed to impress in one way or another. Some years, it leads the pack in design; other times, it stands out for having one of the best cameras in its class. As the V-series continues to expand, vivo has added a more affordable option in the form of the V-series Lite.

Last year’s V40 Lite proved to be a pleasant surprise during a brief out-of-town trip, delivering good performance at a friendly price. This time around, vivo is aiming higher with the V60 Lite, a compact phone that’s punching well above its weight. It already had us impressed with its bold Pop Pink finish, but how does it perform in everyday use?

    Design: 4.5/5

vivo may have created one of its trendiest mid-rangers yet with the V60 Lite. Our review unit came in the eye-catching Pop Pink colorway, which instantly drew attention the moment we opened the box. Despite having a mostly plastic build, the phone feels surprisingly premium thanks to its smooth matte finish and solid construction.

At 194 grams, it’s light and comfortable to hold for long periods.

The front is dominated by a 6.77-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and HDR10+ support, offering punchy colors and smooth scrolling. The back houses the 50MP main and 8MP ultra-wide cameras, along with vivo’s AI Aura Light. Up top are the secondary speaker and mic, while the power and volume buttons sit on the right. At the bottom, you’ll find the SIM tray, USB-C port, and main speaker.

    Hardware: 4/5

The V60 Lite comes in three variants: the base 4G model (our review unit), a 5G version with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage, and a top-tier 5G model with 12GB RAM and 512GB storage. The main difference between them lies in the processor — the 5G variants use a MediaTek Dimensity 7360-Turbo chipset, while the 4G model runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 685.

The Snapdragon 685 isn’t the fastest chip around, but it handles day-to-day tasks well. We were able to play Honor of Kings and Call of Duty: Mobile comfortably on medium settings.

Benchmark results were in line with expectations for its class:

    • Geekbench 6: 464 (single-core) / 1,548 (multi-core)
    • PCMark Work 3.0: 7,496
    • AnTuTu v11: 505,850

The camera setup is a pleasant surprise for a Lite model. The 50MP Sony IMX 882 main sensor captures sharp and well-balanced photos with accurate colors. The 8MP ultra-wide camera performs well under good lighting, and the 32MP front camera takes clean, detailed selfies. Video recording is limited to 1080p at 30fps on the 4G variant, while the 5G model can shoot up to 4K if needed.

One of the V60 Lite’s best features is its massive 6,500mAh BlueVolt battery. It easily lasted a full day of heavy use and nearly two days on moderate use. In PCMark’s battery test, it clocked an impressive 19 hours and 27 minutes. Charging is just as fast: the 90W FlashCharge filled the battery from 20 percent to full in under an hour.

    User Experience: 4/5

The vivo V60 Lite 4G turned out to be more capable than expected. Although its processor isn’t flagship-grade, it handled multitasking, gaming, and media consumption smoothly throughout our tests. Vivo markets the V60 Lite as a workhorse, and it lived up to that promise.

Even after a full day of gaming, I still had enough battery left to watch a few episodes on Netflix before bed. The next morning, a quick charge was all it took to get back to 100 percent.

For media use, the HDR10 display is fantastic for streaming movies and videos. The stereo speakers deliver clear sound that can fill a small room. Gaming was also enjoyable, thanks to vivo’s Ultra Game Mode, which pushes the Snapdragon 685 a little further for resource-intensive titles. The Bypass Charging feature is a nice touch, allowing you to game while plugged in without overheating or stressing the battery.

    Value: 4/5

Starting at PHP14,999 for the V60 Lite 4G, and PHP17,999 and PHP20,999 for the 5G variants, the V60 Lite offers excellent value for its price. You get a large battery, fast charging, and solid performance packed in a stylish design.

It may not be a flagship killer, but for its price range, the vivo V60 Lite is a reliable daily driver that looks good, lasts long, and delivers where it matters most.

It is available now for purchase in vivo concept stores, kiosks, and authorized dealers nationwide or online via the vivo website.

    Bottomline

The vivo V60 Lite continues the brand’s streak of stylish and dependable mid-rangers. It won’t break records in performance tests, but it offers a well-rounded experience that fits the needs of today’s budget-conscious users without compromise.

    What’s Hot:

Fortune ranks TP among top 10 World’s Best Workplaces 2025

TP (formerly Teleperformance) in the Philippines, a leader in digital business services, announced it was named one of the top 10 World’s Best Workplaces™ in 2025 by Great Place To Work® and Fortune magazine. This is the fifth consecutive year that TP has been named to the world’s top employer list.

TP in the Philippines has approximately 60,000 employees who are part of the company’s large network of nearly 500,000 employees worldwide.

Employees freely contribute and volunteer to TP’s community partner programs during their free time, giving them the chance to participate and give back through meaningful causes. In the photo, employees join the nationwide Brigada Eskwela campaign, which readies public school classrooms for students before the start of the school year.

TP is among 25 global leaders in the 2025 Great Place To Work list and was selected based on rigorous analytics and confidential employee feedback. TP employees worldwide assessed the company on its efforts to create a great workplace, positively impact global communities, and how generously and thoughtfully it supports employees with personalized support.

“Being recognized for the fifth consecutive year as one of the World’s Best Workplaces is a testament to the incredible people who make up TP,” said Rahul Jolly, CEO of TP in the Philippines. “This award reflects the passion, resilience, and excellence our employees bring every day, creating an environment where innovation, empathy, and personal growth thrive. As we embrace the future of work, it’s their dedication and spirit that truly define who we are and drive our success.”

    TP
Employees actively participate in company-wide advocacies that promote a culture of belonging and inclusion. Seen in the photo are TP in the Philippines employees joining this year’s Pride March organized in Quezon City.

TP in the Philippines chief people officer Jeffrey Johnson emphasizes how the organization continues to build a thriving community workforce, having been operating in the Philippines for nearly three decades. “We are deeply grateful to all our employees for making TP once again a Great Place to Work. The trust our employees place in us reinforces our commitment to nurturing a workplace where people feel valued, included, supported, and empowered to grow,” adds Johnson.

TP fosters an award-winning, people-first culture where talent and technology work together. TP’s experts are powered by emotional intelligence (EI) and enabled by artificial intelligence (AI), working in orchestration to deliver results that are faster, more personalized and safer for clients and their customers. This is made possible through ongoing training at TP, which empowers team members to deliver superior experiences, combining human warmth with technological precision. The company also offers global leadership development programs for employees and activities to cultivate team bonding, like sports clubs and the For Fun Festival, an annual talent competition that unites thousands of employees worldwide to celebrate creativity and connection.

“The powerful impact of these great companies on our planet is a sacred trust,” said Michael C. Bush, CEO of Great Place To Work. “Of the more than 9 million employees surveyed, more workers at these remarkable companies say their company trusts them and wants them to grow as people and professionals. These economic powerhouses also strengthen the communities where they operate and are leaving behind a better world than the one they inherited.”

“The World’s Best Workplaces list casts an important spotlight on what employees believe are today’s exceptional workplaces, companies and organizations where they feel trusted, empowered, and energized to do their best work,” says Alyson Shontell, editor-in-chief of Fortune.

The World’s Best Workplaces™ 2025 list is just the latest accolade TP has received for its award-winning workplace culture. Earlier this year, TP received Great Place to Work® certifications in 69 countries and was recognized among the top Best Workplaces in Asia, Europe and Latin America.

RCBC partners with Digital Edge’s NARRA 1 to power a new era of resilient, efficient, and sustainable banking

Digital Edge (Singapore) Holdings Pte. Ltd. and Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation (RCBC), one of the Philippines’ top banks, have formalized a strategic partnership that reinforces the country’s digital finance backbone.

RCBC is migrating its production site to Digital Edge’s NARRA1— the Philippines’ largest operating true carrier-neutral data center—marking a significant step in the bank’s long-term digital transformation plans. This collaboration aims to support RCBC’s commitment to delivering highly available, secure, and efficient digital banking experiences to millions of Filipinos nationwide.

The ceremonial signing took place at the RCBC Plaza in Makati. It was attended by key executives from both organizations, including RCBC president and chief executive officer Reggie Carioso and chief information officer John Alabastro, as well as Digital Edge Philippines president and CEO Vic Barrios and Threadborne Group chairman Charlie Rufino.

Strengthening RCBC’s Foundation for Next-Generation Banking

The Philippine financial sector is entering a new phase defined by AI adoption, hybrid cloud expansion, rising digital transaction volumes, and heightened cybersecurity and compliance requirements.

As part of its 2026 digital roadmap, RCBC is enhancing operational resilience, expanding high-availability infrastructure, and strengthening compliance across all mission-critical environments. Moving its systems to NARRA1 enables RCBC to better safeguard critical services, support growing digital workloads, and deliver secure, always-on customer experiences amid rising demand.

This move comes at a pivotal time as RCBC reinforces its IT backbone to stay ahead of evolving industry expectations and support the bank’s long-term growth.

“Digital Edge’s operational track record, sustainability-centered engineering expertise, and commitment to security made them the right partner for us,” RCBC Chief Information Officer John Alabastro said “We have selected NARRA1 because it offers both the technical capacity and environmental efficiency needed by a modern, fast-scaling bank like ours.”

Why NARRA1 Is the Strategic Choice for RCBC’s Mission-Critical Operations

NARRA1 offers a future-ready foundation for RCBC’s mission-critical operations. The facility’s Tier 3, carrier-neutral architecture is designed for high availability, while its 100% dual-power redundancy provides strong protection against outages and operational disruption. Its security and privacy controls meet the stringent requirements of the banking sector, and its renewable-energy-powered, energy-efficient design supports RCBC’s sustainability goals.

These combined capabilities ensure that RCBC can scale its production workloads securely, reliably, and sustainably as it accelerates its digital transformation.

“We are seeing a decisive shift in the Philippine financial sector as institutions strengthen their resilience, modernize legacy systems, and move toward hybrid and cloud-ready environments,” said Vic Barrios,  Digital Edge Philippines president and CEO. “RCBC’s decision to place its production workloads in NARRA1 reflects this momentum and validates our commitment to providing banking-grade infrastructure built for security, uptime, and high-density performance. We are ready to support RCBC–and the broader financial community–as they advance their digital capabilities and prepare for future growth.”

A Stronger, More Sustainable Foundation for the Financial Sector

Digital Edge’s NARRA1— a TIA-942-C-certified facility powered entirely by renewable energy and recognized with BERDE, IFC EDGE, and LEED Gold certifications—offers one of the most energy-efficient and compliance-ready environments in the region. Engineered with the lowest PUE in the region and built to meet the regulatory and security standards required by banks and other regulated institutions, NARRA1 provides a stable, high-performance foundation for modern financial operations.

For RCBC, colocating in an environmentally efficient, high-resilience data center strengthens its long-term vision of a secure, sustainable digital ecosystem. At the same time, the partnership underscores growing momentum among Philippine financial institutions to modernize their IT environments and migrate to high-density, cloud-ready, and sustainability-driven colocation facilities. RCBC’s move further reinforces NARRA1’s position as a trusted hub for mission-critical workloads, supported by the facility’s regional recognition for energy efficiency and engineering excellence, including the Innovation in Energy Efficiency Award (Southeast Asia) from the W.Media Asia Pacific Cloud & Data Center Awards.

A Shared Vision for 2026 and Beyond

The partnership between RCBC and Digital Edge sets a new benchmark for secure, resilient, and sustainable digital operations in the Philippine financial sector. Together, the two organizations are advancing infrastructure that is equipped to meet today’s digital demands and ready to support the accelerated innovations expected in 2026 and beyond.

NLEX empowers communities through upcycling and enterprise training

    0

NLEX Corporation strengthens its commitment to sustainability with two initiatives that foster environmental stewardship and community growth: the second Tirescape Playground, built from upcycled tires for local children, and the enhanced Punla 2.1 program, providing customized mentoring and resources to women-led community enterprises.

“In building a sustainable community, true progress goes beyond physical infrastructure. It also means developing people and enterprises aligned with our long-term vision, as that is how lasting impact is made,” said NLEX president and general manager Luis S. Reñon.

    Tirescape Playground

The Tirescape Playground transforms 300 upcycled tires into colorful park features and play materials. Situated on a 300-square-meter lot in Barangay Bamban, Hermosa, Bataan, the recreational space will benefit around 700 children, promoting physical activity, creativity, social interaction, and environmental awareness through recycling. The project was completed in collaboration with the Barangay Bamban officials, the Local Government Unit of Hermosa, SAVVICE Corporation, and partner transport groups, including the Confederation of Truckers Association of the Philippines and the Inland Haulers and Truckers Association.

Barangay Captain Miranda expressed gratitude: “Taos-pusong pasasalamat po sa NLEX para sa mga proyektong ito. Dahil sa inyo, mayroon nang lugar na pwedeng pag-bondingan ang mga pamilya dito.”

    PUNLA 2.1

Meanwhile, Punla 2.1 has entered its culminating stage. In partnership with the Partnership of Philippine Support Service, the program offered more in-depth, focused mentoring sessions to address the unique needs of enterprises. Participating enterprises also received laptops to strengthen their digital and operational capabilities.

“Napakaraming benepisyo ang ibinigay ng Punla sa amin. Mula sa mentoring at seminar hanggang sa financial assistance at bagong laptop, nadagdagan ang aming kaalaman, tumaas ang aming kita, at naging mas matatag ang aming negosyo at samahan,” shared Priscilla Domingo of Makabagong Agrikultura ng Dinalupihan Marketing Corp.

The Tirescape and Punla programs are part of NLEX’s broader sustainability efforts, which include Road to Less Waste, promoting responsible waste management, and I Care for Strays, advocating responsible pet ownership. Together, these initiatives reinforce NLEX’s commitment to building sustainable, inclusive, and resilient communities.

Stories of hardwork and perseverance highlight the Toyota Tamaraw Roadshow at Marilao

Abante Posible Ambassador Coco Martin met with Marileños and Bulakeños at Marilao, Bulacan during the nationwide Tamaraw roadshow organized by Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) and Toyota Marilao, Bulacan, Inc. (TMR). Marilao is Coco’s third provincial stop after Cagayan De Oro and Tacloban, where customers have been sharing their stories of Abante Posible with the Next Generation Toyota Tamaraw.

Coco Martin’s experience with the Toyota Tamaraw

Coco Martin answers questions from the media

Keeping up the energy high in the afternoon, Coco performed a song and dance number to entertain the audience. Coco then shared his experience as a proud owner of his very own Toyota Tamaraw Utility Van which he uses for his business and for his employees’ transportation.

“Ang una-unang binili ko sa kanila (sa Toyota) yung Utility Van, kasi naisip ko gamitin sa negosyo na tinayo namin. Pag nag gogrocery kami, dito lahat namin nilalagay yung grocery namin. Kapag sa bahay kinailangan yung mga tao namin ng masasakyan, napaka komportable nila kasi aircon at maluwag,” Coco shared. (The first variant I bought (from Toyota) is the Utility Van, because I thought of using it for our business. Every time we buy groceries we load everything we bought here (in the Utility Van). At our house, if our employees need transportation, they can ride comfortably because there’s air conditioning and it’s spacious.)

The Abante Posible ambassador also shared how delightfully surprised he was with the performance of the Toyota Tamaraw and how the clutch pedal is soft and easy to drive.

“Sabi ko ang tagal ko nang nagdadrive. Nagulat ako siguro dahil moderno na ngayon at inaayos ng inaayos ang makina. First time ko maka apak ng clutch na ganun kalambot, sabi ko bat napakalambot ng clutch neto at napaka lakas ng power? Nagulat ako dun sa performance ng Toyota Tamaraw,” he said. (I’ve been driving for a long time. I was probably surprised because (the Tamaraw) is modern now and the engine is continuously being improved. It’s the first time that I stepped on a clutch that is so soft. I said to myself, “why is the clutch so soft and there is so much power?” I was surprised with the performance of the Toyota Tamaraw.)

    Stories of Abante, Posible!

Domingo Delizo with his Toyota Tamaraw Utility Van

Domingo Delizo from Pandi Bulacan, is one of the many people in the showroom who got to meet Coco during his visit. Domingo praised the effectiveness of the Next Generation Toyota Tamaraw for his business, saying that his business income has tripled ever since he bought his Toyota Tamaraw. Additionally, he says that he bought the Toyota Tamaraw due to the reliability Toyota vehicles provide to their customers. This has led to his family having peace of mind when it comes to their business operations. Domingo also shared many people praise his Toyota Tamaraw, to which he encourages them to buy a unit as well, referring them to Toyota Marilao, Bulacan, Inc for their purchase.

    Tamaraw roadshow
Estrella Maruyama with TMR Marketing Professionals

Another customer, Estrella Maruyama, shared that they bought the Toyota Tamaraw as they wanted to experience the durability and quality that it offered. Once they received their Tamaraw, she was not disappointed as she found the interior to be comfortable and their rides with their Tamaraw to be smooth and relaxing. Estrella was so satisfied with her Toyota Tamaraw, that she recommended her daughter, Catherine, purchase one as well.

“At dahil sobrang nagustuhan ko (yung Tamaraw), ni-recommend ko agad sa anak ko, kaya kumuha rin siya kaagad. Ngayon, dalawa na ang Tamaraw sa pamilya namin. Ibig sabihin, hindi lang ako ang satisfied, pati anak ko satisfied din. Sa tibay, practicality, at comfort, masasabi ko, hindi lang sasakyan ang Tamaraw, katuwang talaga siya sa negosyo at sa buhay,” she shared. (Since I really liked the Toyota Tamaraw, I immediately recommended my daughter to buy one immediately. Now, we have two Tamaraws in our family. It means it is not only me who is satisfied, but also my daughter who is satisfied as well. Because of the durability, practicality, and comfort, I can say, that the Tamaraw is not only a vehicle but a partner in business and in life.)

    Toyota Tamaraw: The Filipino’s Choice

TMR president Cosco Oben and Coco Martin posing for a picture

Amid the record sales and a high preferability among MSME owners, more Filipinos are choosing to make Abante, Posible with the Toyota Tamaraw as their mobility partner. The Toyota Tamaraw has been empowering communities ever since its launch last year, becoming an important aspect in many Filipino livelihoods. Marilao is no exception to this as TMR president Cosco Oben, emphasized the immense growth and importance of the Toyota Tamaraw to Marileños and Bulakeños, not only in business but also for family use. He also expressed his gratitude to customers in Bulacan for the trust they have placed in the Toyota Tamaraw.

“The Next Gen Tamaraw is quickly becoming the mobility choice of many Marileños and Bulakeños. They see it as a practical solution for both business and family needs — reliable for their daily business operations, and dependable for bringing their loved ones where they need to be, with confidence and style. I’m truly grateful to our team and to our customers here in Bulacan for the trust they’ve given the Next Gen Tamaraw,” Oben said.

Local dealers such as Toyota Marilao Bulacan, Inc. have been an important factor in the Tamaraw’s record sales, building strong relationships with local MSMEs and their owners. Dealers have been cultivating trust towards MSMEs with the Tamaraw at the forefront, leading to growth among MSMEs in the community.

Throughout the whole afternoon Coco met and gave the Marileños a day filled with joy. He entertained the audience with his performances and shared his love for the Toyota Tamaraw. The Next Generation Toyota Tamaraw, a partner for progress with its reliability, customizability, and fuel-efficiency, shows the Filipino people that they can achieve Abante, Posible!
