TECNO introduced the CAMON SLIM 5G in the Philippines through “MAKE IT LIGHTER: The Living Cover Runway,” transforming the smartphone launch into a fashion-led experience centered on modern Filipino women.
Rather than focusing only on specifications and product demonstrations, the event brought together technology, Filipino design, and personal stories around the idea of making everyday life feel lighter. For TECNO, that theme reflects both the phone’s ultra-slim design and the women it created the device for.
NOT MODELS, BUT LIVING COVERS
The centerpiece of the launch was a runway featuring 15 women from different backgrounds, professions, and stages of life.
The group included celebrities and creators alongside entrepreneurs, working mothers, businesswomen, women in technology, and community builders. Instead of walking simply as models, each participant was introduced through her name, identity, and personal story as she carried the CAMON SLIM 5G down the runway.
The concept was built around the idea that every woman can become the cover of her own story.
DIFFERENT DEFINITIONS OF STRENGTH
The runway intentionally avoided presenting a single definition of the “CAMON woman.”
Solo working mom and advertising professional Ely Halig shared a story shaped by career, motherhood, and competitive padel. Her perspective centered on making space for her daughter, her profession, and the parts of herself that remain distinctly her own.
Twinkle Dimayuga, meanwhile, turned her experience as a solo mother into community work through MAMA, or Mothers Advocating through Ministry and Action. Her story emphasized that strength does not always mean doing everything alone.
The runway also featured personalities including Aubrey Miles, Carlyn Ocampo, Fuschia Anne Ravena, and Max Collins.
Actress, host, and Miss World 2013 Megan Young led the finale. Her appearance closed a runway built around women whose stories covered reinvention, creativity, identity, motherhood, work, and personal growth.
BURGUNDY RED BECOMES THE VISUAL THREAD
The fashion direction drew from Burgundy Red, the hero color of the CAMON SLIM 5G.
All 15 runway looks used burgundy as a common visual language, but each was interpreted differently to reflect the woman wearing it. Instead of identical gowns or a conventional pageant aesthetic, the styling drew inspiration from modern Filipiniana.
Structure, translucent fabrics, fluid draping, pleats, and movement were used to represent different personalities and experiences. Some silhouettes emphasized discipline and strength, while others used softer layers to suggest transition, vulnerability, or freedom.
A SMARTPHONE LAUNCH DESIGNED LIKE A MAGAZINE
The editorial concept extended beyond the runway.
Guests moved through spaces including an Arrival Salon, portrait displays, product experience areas, and the main runway, with each zone intended to reveal another part of the same story.
Modern Filipiniana elements and a more hospitality-led environment were used instead of the usual visual language of a conventional smartphone launch.
At the center of the experience, however, remained the CAMON SLIM 5G.
6.39MM BODY WITH 6,000MAH BATTERY
TECNO positions the CAMON SLIM 5G as its new ultra-slim imaging flagship for the Philippine market.
The phone combines a 6.39mm body with a 6,000mAh battery and a 50MP Sony LYTIA 700C main camera. Imaging features include Super-Zoom FlashSnap and TECNO Universal Tone.
The product positioning reflects the event’s broader theme of combining fashion and technology. TECNO’s idea is that a smartphone is no longer simply a utility device but also something users carry, hold, photograph with, and integrate into personal style.
A GLIMPSE OF THE ANGÉLICA DASS COLLABORATION
The launch also previewed TECNO’s collaboration with artist and photographer Angélica Dass.
Portraiture formed part of the event experience, with photographed women used to explore identities beyond the labels commonly placed on them.
The Philippine chapter of the project will focus particularly on working women and solo mothers through the idea of diskarte, framed as adaptability, wisdom, and resourcefulness.
Rather than focusing only on hardship or sacrifice, the project asks who these women are beyond the roles used to define them. TECNO says more from the Angélica Dass collaboration will be revealed later in October.
