In celebration of International Women’s day, Globe and Google Developer’s group are having an event to showcase talented women in tech. The event, Women Techmankers Manila 2014, to be held on the 8th of March, builds on the success of previous GDG events, such as last year’s DevFest to the Power of Women.
Anne Michelle Santos, Developer Relations Manager of Globe Labs said: “Globe Telecom, through Globe Labs, has been working with GDG in the Philippines on various initiatives. Last year, we held GDG DevFestW (DevFest to the Power of Women) for women in technology. Now it is Women Techmakers Manila 2014 which is not only being organized by women but also boasts of outstanding women speakers. We believe that supporting GDG Philippines in this undertaking will be a great avenue for us to further engage women in local tech communities.”
Diversity is always key to growth, and both groups believe that the empowerment of women is just the first step on a much larger global initiative to generating interest in, and creating more supprt for women in the techonology industry.
Women Techmakers Manila 2014 is targeted at women developers, both professional and student, as well as all other women in the industry. It will be held at the Glbe Corporate Showroom in Valero Telepark, Makati City.
