LG’s efforts with fashion brand Prada aren’t new to us – we welcomed the original device borne from the partnership of both firms with open arms back in 2007, and though their second effort with the brand was a bit ho-hum, it apparently still managed to drum up enough interest for a third outing in the form of the device we received yesterday: the LG Prada 3.0. The LG Prada 3.0 comes in a very nice box, emblazoned with the Prada logo and not much else. Inside you’ll find the device itself, a pair of Prada branded headphones, charger and other things you’ve come to expect from a retail box.
The overall look and feel of the LG Prada 3.0 is pretty good, though it’s not as posh as most of you would expect from a device that has the name of Prada embedded on it. This typical 4.3-inch smartphone uses an IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with a screen resolution of 480 x 800.
With overall dimensions of 127.5 x 69 x 8.5mm, the LG Prada 3.0 is a skinny little thang, and is as thin as the Samsung Galaxy S II. It’s pretty light too, and weighs around 138 g.
The LG Prada 3.0 also has a textured plastic back where the 8-megapixel camera sits. The Prada logo is emblazoned near the top of the device, proclaiming to the world that this isn’t just a regular Android device. And while the majority of the materials used in it are mostly made out of plastic, the LG Prada 3.0 doesn’t feel cheap or plasticky.
Number crunching is done via a dual-core 1GHz Cortex-A9 processor, which to be honest is a bit disappointing, especially in a world filled with dual-core 1.5GHz processors. While the device is powered by Android 2.3, LG has done a couple of tweaks to the look and feel of the OS to convey the same minimalist feel as the exterior of the device.
