LG has announced their new entry into the tablet arena just weeks ahead of IFA 2013. The all-new 8.3-inch slate is called the LG G Pad 8.3, which runs Jelly Bean 4.2.2 with 2GB of RAM and a quad-core Snapdragon 600 chip from Qualcomm clocked at 1.7GHz.

It is the first eight-incher with a 1920 x 1200 Widescreen Ultra Extended Graphics Array (WUXGA) display, which LG claims is a “display capable of delivering picture quality with even higher resolution than a standard Full HD display.Pixel density comes in at 273 pixels per inch (ppi).

Unique software goodies that come with the device include a syncing app called QPair, which allows users to get messages and calls received on any Jelly Bean-powered smartphone directly on the G Pad 8.3. Users can also send replies from the G Pad.

KnockON, meanwhile, enables users to turn the device on and off by simply tapping the display twice.

Like the recently launched LG G2, the G Pad 8.3 comes with the QSlide function that facilitates multitasking by letting the user see three different apps running simultaneously in one window.

sideways-580x318Battery power is pretty massive at 4600mAh. The device weighs 339g, is 216.8mm tall, 126.5mm wide, and 8.3mm thin. A 5.0-megapixel rear camera is onboard, as well as a 1.3-megapixel camera upfront.

There are two color options: black and white. The device comes in only one storage size—16GB—and there’s no provision for expansion via microSD.

The LG G Pad 8.3 is set to hit key areas of the global market in Q4. No word yet on pricing, but we can expect to get more info next week as the product makes it debut at IFA.
