Nothing can stem the flood of Android tablets that continues to hit the market. Adding to the mix is Huawei’s shot at the steadily-growing phablet space, the Huawei Ascend Mate.

Launched at the same event as the Ascend P6, the Ascend mate is clearly the larger of the two siblings, sporting a 6.1 (!) inch display, a very capable quad-core processor running at 1.5GHz, and an appropriately massive 4050mAh battery to power the whole thing.

“The Huawei Ascend Mate breaks barriers to deliver a supercharged entertainment, communication and creative experience for all your personal and professional needs,” said Johnson Ma, Country Manager of Huawei Device Philippines.” “The Huawei Ascend Mate is an industry-leading smartphone and tablet in one and showcases our innovation as we continue to make great technology available to people globally and locally,” he added.

The Mate has a huge screen ration of 73%, the largest in the market, which maximizes viewing pleasure for movies, reading, the Internet or games. The screen, an IPS+ LCD deal, has a resolution of 1280×720 pixels, ensuring a sharp image no matter what you might be viewing.

The Mate runs Android Jelly Bean 4.1 and is available for PHP17,190, or free at Globe MySuperPlan 999, or 499 with a PHP200 cash out monthly.
