    Unboxing: Panasonic Lumix G3 & GF3

    ArchivesUnboxing: Panasonic Lumix G3 & GF3

The Lumix G3 and GF3 have finally arrived in our humble office, and it has us twittering in excitement like little children on Christmas Day. Having had the chance to briefly test them both out in Thailand (courtesy of Panasonic), simply being able to hold them once again is absolutely exhilarating.

We eagerly unboxed the newest product updates to the G series. Accompanying the units were the usual accessories: battery + charger, connectors, user’s manual and CD software. (Gadgets Magazine not included, but grab our July issue which is out now!)

The GF3 was bundled with the optional kit lens, a fantastic 14-42mm/ f3.5-5.6, along with a lens hood. As you can see in the photos above, this camera is fabulously miniscule. Panasonic really came through on making it smaller, courtesy of a smaller sensor.

The G3 is slightly bigger and resembles a DSLR.  It didn’t arrive with a kit lens, but Panasonic has generously provided the new Leica DG Summilux 25mm f1.4 (sold separately). Even though I only had a few hours to test it out, any Lumix user should definitely put this lens on their wishlist – not only is it wide angled, but it has a wide opening.

Stay tuned for our online reviews as well as a full take on the G3 in our August anniversary print issue.
