Watch out VMA—YouTube is set to hold its first ever YouTube Music Awards on November 3rd. The event will be broadcasted live from New York City, with musical collaborations from cities across the globe, including Seoul, Moscow, London and Rio.
The nominees will be announced on October 17th, and YouTube will leave it up to the people to select the winners by voting. We have yet to find out the award categories.
Among the artists who will perform live at the awards, according to YouTube’s blog post, are Lady Gaga, Eminem, and Arcade Fire. Lindsey Stirling, CDZA, and other YouTube stars will be there, too.
Spike Jonze—director of Where The Wild Things Are and music videos by popular artists such as the Beastie Boys, Kanye West, Beck, and Weezer—has signed up to become the creative director of the event. Jason Schwartzman will be hosting the awards and is the face of the promo video.
