The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) recently awarded Honda Foundation Inc. (HFI) the Outstanding Humanitarian Award for Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR). The recognition was for the organization’s efforts in helping communities in times of calamities and amid the pandemic.
In May 2020, HFI donated 104 motorcycle units — 52 red units each of TMX125 alpha and Wave 110 alpha — with insulated top boxes to PRC. These motorcycles are for the use of volunteers and staff in 104 PRC chapters nationwide. The endowment also provides PRC with a fast and high-quality mode of transportation.
“We, at Honda, are one with the Philippine Red Cross in providing a helping hand to those in need. With our innovative mindset, we recognize the power of our motorcycles in helping this organization in all its much-needed humanitarian efforts,” said Susumu Mitsuishi, president of Honda Philippines Inc. (HPI) and member of the HFI board of trustees.
HFI is the arm of the Honda group of companies in the Philippines that oversees and manages its corporate social responsibility programs and activities, such as promoting road safety, protecting the environment, supporting the youth, and addressing local community needs.
“Honda has always been present in protecting the lives of Filipinos, especially during crises like the Taal Volcano eruption, the current COVID-19 pandemic, and even the series of typhoons. In 67 years of its trustworthy services, Honda Philippines, Incorporated has been supportive to the Philippine Red Cross for a decade now,” Mitsuishi said.
The donation project is in line with Honda’s ONE DREAM campaign, which aims to make Honda motorcycles an essential tool in saving lives and helping institutions like the PRC by enabling the group to respond rapidly during crises.
The Outstanding Humanitarian Award for Corporate Social Responsibilities is an award given to an exceptional donor who gave generous donations from the Mindanao Earthquake last December 2019 until the recent Typhoon Ulysses. It is the organization’s way of appreciating the donor’s contributions as an instrumental humanitarian partner, committed to serving the community and the country selflessly and compassionately to alleviate the suffering of the most vulnerable.
