Honda — through Honda Foundation, Inc. (HFI) and Honda Philippines, Inc. (HPI) — has taken a significant step toward improving road safety in the Philippines. A new partnership with Tamang Ride PH, a road safety advocacy initiative by A Child’s Trust is Ours to Nurture (ACTION), Inc., has been formalized through a memorandum of agreement. This collaboration aims to enhance road safety awareness, with a particular focus on children, teens, and beginner riders. The partnership was commemorated with a PHP1 million donation from Honda to support the development of the Tamang Ride App and other advocacy materials.

A shared vision for road safety

The Tamang Ride PH movement, set to launch in May 2025, will create a platform for engaging Filipinos in road safety discussions. It also seeks to amplify awareness through social media content, events, and testimonials. Honda’s collaboration will include sharing road safety training materials and hosting skills programs like its original Kids on Safety and Teen Smart initiatives. HFI president Seiji Fujimoto, emphasized Honda’s dedication to creating safer roads for Filipino families, noting that this partnership aligns with Honda’s long-term goal of halving global traffic deaths by 2030.

Road safety education: A focus on the youth

Honda Safety Driving Center (HSDC), a premier training facility in Parañaque City, will play a pivotal role in this initiative. The center will lead the development of educational modules, funded by an additional PHP980,000 donation, and will oversee Training the Trainers sessions for road safety educators. These efforts will ensure that essential road safety principles reach children (ages 3–7), teens (ages 13–17), and first-time riders, instilling a lifelong commitment to safe driving practices.

ACTION Inc.’s executive director Lani Llanes praised the partnership, noting that it leverages Honda’s expertise to foster a culture of safety across communities, particularly in underserved areas.

    Leveraging technology for safer roads

A key feature of this partnership is the development of the Tamang Ride App, which will provide a digital platform for road safety education and advocacy. The app will include interactive features such as road safety tips, crash data collection, and testimonials from road users. By integrating these tools with Honda’s existing collaborations with public institutions like the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA), the initiative will create a comprehensive roadmap for reducing road crashes and protecting families nationwide.

    Global commitment to local impact

Honda’s efforts in the Philippines are part of its broader commitment to road safety, as demonstrated by its recent partnership with the United Nations to improve global road safety standards. Honda Philippines’ collaboration with ACTION Inc. marks another milestone, reflecting its vision of “Safety for Everyone” and its goal of achieving zero road crashes by 2050.

Honda’s brand philosophy, encapsulated by the slogan “The Power of Dreams,” drives its mission to create value for society through innovative mobility solutions and meaningful partnerships. As the Road Safety Ambassador, Honda continues to empower communities, making roads safer for future generations.
