Southeast Asia’s leading developer and mall operator SM has partnered with Atome to introduce buy now pay later checkout counters across five of its department stores in Manila, and on its e-commerce platform, ShopSM.

Shoppers at five SM department stores in Manila — SM North Edsa, SM Makati, SM Megamall, SM Mall of Asia, and SM Southmall — will be able to split their purchases into three, zero-interest payments upon checkout at a dedicated counter inside the shopping mall. To pay, users first have to download the Atome app and register an account, before selecting it as the checkout payment option. The facility will also be available at five other SM department stores in Manila — SM Cubao, SM Fairview, SM Sucat, SM San Lazaro, SM Grand Central — by the end of February.

Dhinno S. Tiu, senior vice president of The SM Store, said: “We are excited to partner with Atome and introduce additional “buy now pay later” acceptance across five of our shopping malls in Manila. At SM, we’re constantly innovating and looking to improve and personalize the shopping experience of our customers. Buy now pay later is one of the fastest-growing and popular trends globally. Now with Atome, our shoppers have the added option of a flexible, convenient, and transparent way to shop and pay when shopping at The SM Store.”

“We’re thrilled to partner with SM, Southeast Asia’s leading developer, and mall operator. It’s been proven time and again that integrating Atome’s checkout option will help grow sales, basket size as well as attract new customer segments, both in-store and online. Through this partnership with SM, we’re also glad to play our part in powering the retail sector’s economic recovery in the Philippines, post Covid19. ” said Sheila Sta. Ines, head of business development, Atome Philippines.
