Hyundai Motor Philippines Inc. (HMPH) recently concluded the second Hyundai Service and Parts Skills Championship, featuring 37 participants—27 from the Service Division and 10 from the Parts Division—representing Hyundai dealer groups nationwide.
The competition covered two major divisions. The Service Division selected the top-performing technician to represent the Philippines at the 15th World Skills Olympics (WSO) in South Korea. This year marked the introduction of the Parts Division, broadening the competition’s scope.
Mr. Japhet Almendras from Hyundai Batangas City, a dedicated technician since 2019, emerged as the overall champion for the Service Division. He will represent that country in the global competition. Meanwhile, Ms. Mary Rose Hermoso of Hyundai Manila Bay claimed the championship for the Parts Division.
Rigorous Assessments for the Service Division
Candidates in the Service Division underwent theoretical and practical evaluations using select Hyundai models. They were assessed across four diagnostic areas: Engine, Component, Electrical, and Chassis. Participants were tasked with troubleshooting under time constraints, replicating real-world automotive challenges to test both their technical expertise and ability to perform under pressure.
Comprehensive Evaluation for the Parts Division
The Parts Division began with an elimination round where 23 personnel completed online and practical evaluations of their expertise. The top 10 participants advanced to the finals, where they competed for the championship.
