Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) is introducing a new Xpander in the Philippine market. The Xpander Cross is positioned to be the top of the line variant of the top-selling Mitsubishi nameplate in the market.
With the success of the Xpander since its release in 2018, MMPC further expands the vehicle’s capabilities as it adds a rugged sporty style and toughness to the comfortable and versatile 7-seater MPV.
“The XPANDER is a very important nameplate to MMPC as it fits many of the vehicle requirements of Filipinos. It provides the reliable performance, spacious and comfortable interior, host of safety features and a very bold design. Now with the entry of the XPANDER CROSS, its added features, we see renewed potential to the already successful Xpander nameplate,” said Mutsuhiro Oshikiri, MMPC president and CEO.
The Xpander Cross has a sportier look compared to the regular Xpander. The new Xpander Cross reflects the essence of Mitsubishi Motor Corporation through its Dynamic Shield design that projects the balance of powerful performance and reassuring sense of protection.
The Xpander Cross has a new protective lower bumper skid plate, new wheel arch molding and side body garnish, roof rails, LED headlights and fog lamps, and new 17-inch alloy wheels which give the car a sporty SUV image. Here’s a look around the car:
The new Xpander Cross is equipped with the same 1.5-liter DOHC 16 with MIVEC engine that goes up to 105 PS at 6000 RPM and 141 Nm of torque at 4000 RPM. The engine is mated to a 4-speed automatic transmission.
The Xpander Cross had some height adjustments compared to its base models. The new variant now has a 225 mm ground clearance. Mitsubishi has also equipped the Xpander Cross with a new specially tuned suspension with a rebound spring making the car capable of traversing more challenging terrains with comprising passenger comfort. The car also has a wide windshield and high seating positions for better driver visibility and is also equipped with cruise control.
Inside the 7-seater MPV is a spacious cabin complemented with versatile seats that can be configured in various positions to accommodate different space or seat requirements. The second and third row can fold flat with no gaps to accommodate large cargo loads.
The interior design is also luxurious. The new Xpander Cross is dominated by black and brown accents on the dashboard. The seats are covered with dual-tone leather, and at the head unit is a 7-inch touchscreen audio display with reverse camera.
The Xpander Cross has the tagline “Live Extra” with Mitsubishi challenging Filipino families to break away from their regular work-to-home routine and live life to the fullest. As part of its launch campaign, the Xpander Cross feature the celebrity family of the Arellanos as the vehicle’s brand ambassadors.

The new Xpander Cross has a price of PHP 1,255,000 and will be available in the following color variations: white pearl, sterling silver metallic, graphite grey metallic, and sunrise orange metallic.
