While at the Manila International Autoshow last Thursday, we managed to stumble on AVT’s latest in-car gadget – the Android Radio AN6B01. In a nutshell, the device is basically what’s advertised – it’s an Android powered head-unit with a 6.2-inch WVGA touchscreen display, powered by slightly modified Android 2.3 Gingerbread and a Cortex A8 1GHz ARM processor. From what we could see during the demo, this particular head unit is a full fledged Android device, capable of installing and running apps, as well as being able to control everything from your phone calls (when you link your phone with it) to your car’s navigation and entertainment system. We only managed to spend a few minutes with the device, but AVT assured us that they’ll be sending it to our office (hopefully attached to a car) to find out what it can really do.
