The inaugural season of the National Inter-Collegiate Cyber League (NICL) will finally launch this September. It is one of the major initiatives of Mineski Philippines’ Youth Esports Program (YEP) and will be headlined by a tournament featuring Riot Games’ first-person shooter game VALORANT.
The NICL is open to students from senior high until post-graduate studies who are enrolled for school year 2020-2021. The league will split its first season into three legs, with the Valorant tournament kicking off in September and run until November.
Registrations for the VALORANT leg are free for all students! To register, visit http://bit.ly/NICLVALORANTReg.
The leg’s regional qualifiers are divided by region, with teams being slotted into the region of their school campus:
- Luzon (September 15 to October 2)
- NCR (October 6 to October 23)
- Visayas (October 27 to November 6)
- Mindanao (November 10 to November 20)
The top 4 teams from each region’s qualifiers will move on to the regional finals for that region, with a prize pool of PHP 30,000. The top team from each regional finals will move on to the national finals with a prize pool of PHP 120,000.
Though it is not the first national esports league for students in the country, this is the flagship student league of Mineski Philippines’ Youth Esports Program. The program seeks to develop the country’s future esports talents and to distinguish esports as a positive competitive experience for today’s youth.
