Acer has unveiled another trick up its sleeve with the latest desktop PC to use Android as its OS at the IFA 2013 show in Berlin this week. The DA241HL joins the forthcoming HP Slate 21 and Acer’s own DA220HQL as desktops powered by mobile processors and the Android OS.
While the Slate 21 is expected to use Nvidia’s new Tegra 4 processor, the DA241HL will run on a Tegra 3 CPU, though it delivers a bigger screen with 24 inches with the same 1080p resolution and the ability to tilt between 20 and 75 degrees.
The DA241HL will run on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. Thus, users should be able to find on their home PC the same familiar interface used on other Android devices, such as smartphones and tablets.
What’s more, the Android OS unlocks the world of exciting games and relentless productivity, with more than 1 million apps available at the Google Play Store and/or the Google Market. These apps can be accessed across multiple Android devices under the same account, so users are provided with a simplified and convenient experience.
On top of that, the DA241HL can offer a personalised experience to each family member, as it allows customisation of settings and apps for up to five users.
Thanks to MHL connectivity, the DA241HL can easily transmit smartphone content to a larger display for more comfortable viewing. It can also connect to any PC with Windows 8 via an HDMI port or USB cable becoming a 2-point Touch Display.
Acer has announced that the DA241HL will be available mid-October with a starting price of 429 euros.
