The Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Inc. (CAMPI) recently announced that the 5th Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS) will be held from September 18 to 21 at the World Trade Center, Pasay City.
This year’s PIMS will host 16 of the top automotive brands in the Philippines: Daewoo, Peugeot, Suzuki, Toyota, Lexus, Mazda, Honda, Isuzu, JMC, Kia, Mercedes Benz, BAIC, BMW, Mitsubishi, Nissan, and Volkswagen. The event will be a venue for brands to exhibit their latest models, and allow visitors to test drive some of them. The event will also feature automotive photography, car club conventions, and different exhibits.
This year’s theme is “Progress in Motion,” pertaining to the country’s economic growth and the industry’s contribution to it. CAMPI President Rommel Gutierrez said: “PIMS has always been more than a motor exhibit. This year, it serves as our platform in conveying how the automotive industry is a vital player in the Philippines’ thriving economy. The industry’s robust performance in the past two years is also proof that we are progressing toward better mobility and transportation.”
2013 saw the industry breaching the 200,000 mark in sales, selling a total of 212,000 units. This year, the January-April period saw sales growing by 22 percent compared to the same period last year. “The 5th Philippine International Motor Show is also the perfect venue to show that CAMPI is one with the government in driving economic progress.” Gutierrez added.
In line with this theme, the motor show will have a special display of iconic vehicles that illustrate the history of the automotive industry in the country.
