For sometime already, Google has been offering voice search through Google Now, allowing people to search for information verbally. On Wednesday, the company announced the rollout of several new capabilities apropos to voice search.

Over the coming days and weeks, English-speaking users with voice search on their desktops, tablets, and smartphones will be able to ask Google common queries such as, “is my flight on time?” or “let me see my reservations”, and receive answers instantly in Google Search if information is in their Gmail, Google Calendar, or Google+.

This functionality is not entirely new for Google. In fact, it has been offering it for more than a year in Google Now (not accessible in the Philippines as of yet). What’s recently developed is its availability in Google Search.

“This information is just for you—secure, via encrypted connection, and visible only to you when you’re signed in to Google,” noted Google Product Manager Roy Livne. “Likewise, you can also control whether you want the service on or off.”
