    Multinational corporation Google just recently revealed their ambitious prototype of a smartphone that can capture and map its surroundings, called Project Tango. According to Google, the smartphone is capable of learning the dimension of rooms and spaces just by merely moving around places.

    “The goal of Project Tango is to give mobile devices a human-scale understanding of space and motion,” said Johnny Lee, leader of Project Tango

    Devices with Tango will be equipped with a depth sensor and a motion tracking camera to be able to detect the particulars of its surroundings while simultaneously creating a detailed indoor map. Google also mentioned that they’re looking forward to use Tango in creating more realistic games or even assist the visually impaired in navigating areas they’re less familiar with.

    However, amidst all the hype Project Tango is receiving, Google said that the development of the project is still in its early stages. According to recent reports, Google will send out 200 Tango devices to selected developers across the world starting on March 14.
