PayMaya Philippines, pioneer in mobile money and payments, has partnered with one of the largest fast-food chains in the world, McDonald’s, to elevate the customer experience with cashless payments.

Through this groundbreaking partnership, customers in the Philippines can now conveniently pay for their McDonald’s favorites with either their Mastercard and Visa card.

Orlando B. Vea, president and CEO at PayMaya Philippines, shared that this partnership is not aimed to replace cash transactions but instead better the customer experience, brand affinity, and then some through an efficient cashless system.

To enable McDonald’s customers, initially 42 branches have begun accepting face-to-face card payments for all types of Mastercard and Visa credit, debit, and prepaid cards (including PayMaya Visa cards and Smart Mastercard).

The announcement also revealed several more plans as part of the collaboration, including acceptance of QR payments at McCafe BGC Arts Center and McCafe Tagaytay Calamba stores in a few weeks–with more stores accepting QR-based payments in the coming months. Through QR code payments, customers can quickly do transactions by opening the PayMaya app on their smartphones and scanning the QR code displayed at the cashier area.

Down the line, customers will also be able to book and pay for their McCelebrations Birthday Party online as well as pay for their orders via McDelivery.

Margot Torres, executive vice president and deputy manager of McDonald’s Philippines, said that mobile is going to be at the heart of their roadmap. McDonald’s Philippines is first on many fronts–24 hours service and online delivery. To continue making the customer experience even more friction-less, the quick-service restaurant continues to innovate, and cashless is just a part of it.

“McDonald’s is a well-loved brand that we are glad to be partnering with to provide Filipinos with more cashless payment options. Together, we take one bold step with them in creating a cashless Philippines, which we see happening in the very near future,” said Vea.

McDonald’s joins a roster of pioneering companies and merchants that are embracing the cashless revolution with the help of PayMaya. To know more about its solutions for merchants and businesses, visit business.paymaya.com.
