Smart opens registration for 2015 Clash of Clans tournament

Smart Communications, Inc. has officially opened registration for the Philippine Clash 2015, a nationwide Clash of Clans tournament covering five main regions and offering more than PHP 2-million worth of prizes.

“After sending netizens abuzz with our big announcement last week, Smart is thrilled to officially open the registration for Philippine Clash 2015, and kick off the nationwide search for the country’s top COC team,” said Mellissa Limcaoco, head of Smart’s innovation and product development group.

“This is the perfect venue for COC gamers and fans to meet face to face and learn strategies from each other in a friendly but definitely tough competition, and we are doing this in line with our efforts to support the many passion points of Filipinos, including mobile gaming,” Limcaoco added.

The tourney is done in cooperation with the Philippine eSports Organization, Inquirer eSports, SM Cyberzone, and the Philippine Clash of Clans Battleground—one of the biggest online COC communities in the country.

A clan must have five members, each with at least a Town Hall Level 9, in order to be eligible for the competition. They can sign up at http://smart.com.ph/pages/PhilippineClash2015. After verification, clans will be able to partake in Qualifying Legs in Metro Manila (August 2 at SM Light Residences); Southern Luzon (August 8 at SM Lipa); Visayas (August 23 at SM City Cebu); Mindanao (September 5 at SM Lanang Premier Davao); and Northern Luzon (September 18 at SM Baguio).

The competition will follow a Royal Rumble format, with all clans playing simultaneously without groups or rankings. The top two clans with the most number of trophies gained after six hours will be advancing to the Grand Finals set on September 26 at SM Mall of Asia.

The Philippine Clash 2015 Grand Champion will take home PHP 500,000 in cash, in addition to a brand new Samsung Galaxy S6 phone and Smart Bro Pocket WiFi for each of the members.

Meanwhile, the second and third placers will receive PHP 300,000 and PHP 200,000 in cash, respectively, plus Smart Bro Pocket Wi-Fi units for each member.

Alongside this main event will be the COC Cosplay competition that will award PHP 5,000 worth of SM gift certificates to each of the winners in the qualifiers, and a record PHP 70,000 cash prize to the best cosplayer in the Grand Finals.

Finally, representatives from COC developer Supercell and Youtube personalities Chief Pat and Galadon will be flying in to grace the competition’s finale.
