Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) shattered an automotive industry record by selling 10,123 vehicles in a single month last July. You read that right. 10,123 units were added to the country’s armada of automobiles in a span of one month. This 10,000-mark breach was a very impressive follow-up to the already numerous 9,000 Toyota vehicles sold in May, and is the first time any local car company managed such a sales performance.
The figure was a 65 percent growth over its July 2013 operations. Sales were led by continued market demand for the Vios and Innova with 2,480 and 1,614 models sold last month respectively – their highest sales since their introduction to the local market. Also contributing were the Wigo mini hatchback (935 units), the utility van Hiace (1,280 units), and the Fortuner SUV (1,350 units). Year-to-date, TMP grew 43 percent over the same period last year, totaling 58,635 vehicle shipments as of July 2014.
Asked about his opinion on Toyota’s record-breaking performance, TMP President Mr. Michinobu Sugata said, “We at Toyota Motor Philippines would like to extend our sincerest appreciation to our customers for making Toyota as their preferred choice of vehicle. We are pleased by the continuous support and belief they have shown leading to this sales milestone. Ultimately, this would not be possible without them.”
He also added, “Achieving more than 10,000 units in a single month is indeed a leap forward coming from a 9,000 unit sales level last May. We see this feat as another motivation to our Team to constantly find ways in serving our customers and partners even better.”
