In the coming weeks, we expect to launch full online onboarding for new clients, making the account opening process seamless and user-friendly. Another milestone was the continued strengthening of our corporate governance, marked by the appointment of Atty. Juan De Zuñiga, Jr. as an independent director, following his long and distinguished career at the BSP. Mazda PH furthers social responsibility with Pawssion Project partnership

Mazda Philippines partners with Pawssion Project to give a voice and a hand to the voiceless—abused and neglected animals. The partnership aims to raise funding to help cover the basic needs and rehabilitation of rescued animals, on top of a long-term loan of a specially-equipped BT-50 pickup truck that will help in the foundation’s day-to-day operations.

Pawssion Project is a non-stock, non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and rehoming of abused and neglected animals. Founded in 2018 by Malou Perez in Bacolod City, her story is one of hope, courage, and passion, becoming a movement that has since led to over 2,500 animals rescued, over 1,100 animals rehomed, and over 3,800 animals spayed and neutered. Currently, Pawssion Project also runs two shelters, one in Bacolod and another in Bulacan, that are home to over 640 rescues.

Recognizing Malou’s life-long passion, Mazda Philippines is donating PHP1,500 from the sale of each new Mazda BT-50 across all variants from August 2025 onwards to sponsor a rescue on behalf of each buyer. BT-50 buyers will also be given the opportunity to adopt, donate, or continue the sponsorship of a rescue through a certificate that comes with the purchase of each Mazda BT-50.

Mazda Philippines is also lending out a purpose-built BT-50 pickup truck, designed and built in collaboration with Malou, which will be used in the day-to-day operations of Pawssion Project.

Based on the new BT-50 3.0L AT 4×2, the Mazda Philippines x Pawssion Project BT-50 features livery designed by local artist Jaykee Evangelista to help raise awareness about Pawssion Project and its cause.

The BT-50’s one-ton payload capacity will be put to good use with an aluminum canopy that will protect cargo such as animal food, medicine, crates, and various donations and supplies from the elements, and keep them safe and secure.

Inside, a cargo bed sliding tray has been added, making it easier for Pawssion Project volunteers to load and unload various cargo without entering the enclosed cargo bed. And, with its standard tailgate assist feature, opening the tailgate requires almost no effort.

Already easy-to-clean and maintain thanks to its tough and durable all-weather deep-dish floor mats, the Pawssion Project BT-50 also comes with waterproof vinyl seat covers. Featuring taped stitching—a process applied to motorcycle seats to make them waterproof—it ensures that the seats are easily cleaned and maintained. Underneath the rear seats are storage compartments for emergency food, water, and medicine for rescues that need immediate care.

Further emphasizing itself as an enabler for Pawssion Project’s mission, the BT-50 comes with a long list of standard features. The 3.0-liter turbodiesel engine delivers usable performance with superb fuel economy and tried-and-tested reliability. Meanwhile, the high-tensile frame makes the BT-50 stronger, while the high-riding suspension provides ample ground clearance and 800mm of water wading capability. A new 360-degree camera and rear parking sensors also make it easier to maneuver the BT-50 around tight city streets and urban confines.

“Mazda Philippines’ partnership with Pawssion Project continues to show that mobility can be purposeful—and that every drive has the power to make a difference,” explains Steven Tan, president of Mazda Philippines. “Malou Perez and her unwavering passion to help all these abused and neglected animals is an inspiration, and it is something we recognize.”

The partnership with Pawssion Project underscores Mazda Philippines’ commitment to social responsibility and animal welfare, which started in 2020 with the Katala Foundation, a Palawan-based organization ensuring the protection of the Philippine Pangolin (Manis culionensis). The Katala Foundation has long made it its mission to rebuild the Pangolin’s native habitat and establish conservation efforts to create awareness and combat poaching.

foodpanda Logistics delivers PHP2.5 million aid to habagat-hit partner riders, provides support to LGU responders

Delivery service provider foodpanda Logistics announced that it has provided over PHP2.5-million in relief aid, under its Panda Pag-asa Program, to over 5,000 partner “Ka-panda” riders coming from areas hit hardest by the enhanced southwest monsoon (habagat) and successive weather disturbances last week.

Riders coming from impacted cities in Metro Manila, Pampanga, Cavite, Laguna, Bulacan, and other provinces have received aid, with foodpanda Logistics planning to extend the relief to more riders in more areas, including in Northern Luzon. “The recent rains and flooding were devastating, but it is during times like these that the Bayanihan Spirit shines the most; we are committed to extend help where it’s needed the most,” remarked foopanda Logistics rider experience lead Ron Sanders.

The massive rains last week brought by the habagat and back-to-back arrival of Tropical Cyclones Crising, Dante, and Emong wreaked havoc on many areas across the country, displacing thousands of families and leaving many roads flooded or impassable. For delivery riders relying on these roads for livelihood, the impact of the rains was exponential.

(“Some of our fellow riders’ homes were flooded; others didn’t experience that, but they couldn’t go out to deliver since the roads themselves were flooded. I was able to go out a bit, but because of the rains, I decided to limit my hours just to be safe. We are lucky because we are not required to report to work nor do full-time hours, and the assistance from foodpanda Logistics is helpful in covering days where we could not venture out.”)

    Rider safety comes first

“During these extreme weather conditions, rider safety is our utmost priority,” explained Sanders. “As a pre-emptive measure during inclement weather, we may close certain zones or delivery areas where it was too risky for our partner riders to venture out. We are grateful to our food and grocery delivery customers for their patience and understanding in case they couldn’t order or had to wait for longer delivery times during that period.”

“And for areas where the rains may be relatively lighter and customers are able to order from foodpanda’s partner restaurants, we thank those customers who generously tip their riders; 100% of tips go to our partner riders, and they go a long way in supplementing their earnings,” Sanders noted.

Help the helpers: foodpanda extends support to LGU disaster responders

With affected Ka-panda riders receiving aid, foodpanda also took steps to provide support to responders on the ground who were involved in rescue and relief efforts and manning the operations center. This includes the Quezon City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO), with foodpanda providing over 250 meals to DRRMO responders, volunteers and operations center staff over a span of five days during the height of the storms.

“We salute these men and women on the ground who braved the storms and floods to get our kababayans to safety,” remarked Lew Lopez, public affairs and public relations director of foodpanda Philippines. “In our own small way, we want to help the helpers as they continue with the recovery efforts,” he added.

Visa advances tourism and financial inclusion with contactless MRT-3 payments

Visa, a global leader in digital payments, is driving economic growth and promoting tourism and financial inclusion in the Philippines with the launch of automated, contactless fare collection systems across Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3). This modernization initiative, in partnership with the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and industry collaborators, marks Visa’s third major transit project in the country and will benefit over 350,000 daily commuters.

    Seamless mobility powers economic growth

With digital infrastructure now in place at all 13 MRT-3 stations, commuters can enjoy faster, more secure journeys using Visa cards, QR codes, and NFC-enabled devices. According to the Visa Economic Empowerment Institute, open-loop, contactless systems in public transit could potentially boost ridership by up to 10 percent. This upgrade streamlines passenger flow, reduces wait times, and supports economic activity by making urban mobility more accessible.

“Modern, seamless payment systems are essential for vibrant urban economies. Upgrading fare collection not only improves commuter experiences but also attracts investment and productivity by making Metro Manila more connected and efficient,” said Jeffrey Navarro, Visa’s country manager for the Philippines.

The shift to contactless, interoperable payments aligns the Philippines with the world’s most advanced urban centers. According to the Visa Global Urban Mobility Survey, 58% of commuters in Asia Pacific want to use a single payment method for all modes of transportation, while 96% already expect contactless payments to be available for public transit. By meeting these global standards, the MRT-3’s new fare collection system positions Metro Manila alongside Tokyo, Singapore, Bangkok, and other leading cities worldwide in terms of convenience, innovation, and commuter experience.

    Promoting digital and financial inclusion

This initiative is part of Visa’s broader commitment to advancing digital and financial inclusion in the Philippines. By enabling commuters to use their cards and smartphones – tools already familiar to many–Visa is bridging the gap for unbanked and underbanked Filipinos and expanding access to digital financial services.

“Digitization in public transport doesn’t just make commuting easier; it opens doors to financial empowerment for millions of Filipinos. Inclusive mobility solutions ensure everyone, regardless of background, can participate in our growing digital economy,” Navarro added.

Supporting tourism growth through modern transit payments

The new cashless system also removes barriers for international and local tourists, who increasingly expect seamless, card-based payments when traveling. According to the Visa 2023 Global Travel Intentions Study, 97% of Asia Pacific travelers bring cards on their trips, but 44% of visitors to the Philippines have faced payment issues, often due to limited card acceptance.

“Tourism thrives on convenience. By upgrading our transit payment systems, we make it easier for visitors to explore our cities, spend more, and recommend the Philippines as a modern, tourist-friendly destination,” Navarro said.

Expanding reach: From Metro Manila to regional hubs

The MRT-3 upgrade follows Visa’s successful cashless transit projects in Cebu, Mandaue, and Bacolod, where over 1.4 million residents and visitors benefit from contactless payments in modern jeepneys.

With more than 870 tap-to-ride transit projects globally, Visa continues to deliver innovative mobility solutions that advance economic development, support inclusive growth, and position the Philippines as a global leader in smart, sustainable urban infrastructure.

For over five decades, Epson has pursued a clear philosophy: championing efficient, compact, and precise innovation, enriching lives, and unlocking immense value for the environment and society. In the Philippines, this approach is evident in the printers, projectors, and scanners used daily across classrooms, offices, small businesses, and creative spaces. These solutions are built to be efficient, durable, and able to help users work smarter while minimizing environmental impact.

“Sustainability has always been at the core of what we do,” said Masako Kusama, president and director of Epson Philippines Corporation. “Our products help users operate more efficiently and responsibly. This is how we build trust over time.”

Epson’s sustainability efforts go beyond hardware design. Its nationwide support network—with more than 160 Authorized Service Centers—plays a critical role in offering timely and expert maintenance. This helps users maximize the value of each device.

Globally, Epson operates under its Environmental Vision 2050, a long-term roadmap aimed at achieving carbon-negative operations and eliminating the use of exhaustible underground resources such as oil and metals. The company is investing heavily in innovations that advance a circular economy—creating products that are easier to repair, maintain, and recycle while minimizing environmental impact throughout their lifecycle.

In the Philippines, these principles are evident in how Epson technology supports a wide range of users. Teachers use projectors to bring lessons to life, entrepreneurs depend on printers to keep businesses running, and creative professionals use Epson solutions to deliver high-quality work. Each of these experiences is supported by technology that consumes less power, produces less waste, and is designed to last longer—all while maintaining performance and reliability.

As technology and user needs evolve, Epson remains focused on purposeful innovation. This means continuously improving energy efficiency, enhancing product longevity, and designing solutions that strike a balance between performance and environmental responsibility. With every step forward, Epson reinforces its commitment to sustainable practices that create value not just for customers, but for society and the planet.

With a legacy of innovation and a future shaped by sustainability, Epson continues to deliver technology that works reliably, supports communities, and is truly Engineered for Good.

NGA 911 Philippines now certified by global emergency response standards body

NGA 911 Philippines, the local subsidiary of Next Generation Advanced 911 (NGA 911) of California and a global innovator in the field of emergency response, is now a member of the National Emergency Number Association (NENA).

NENA is a global non-profit organization that ensures emergency services in the United States, Canada and other parts of the world conform to strict global standards in their operations. NENA collaborates with the European Emergency Number Association (EENA) on the European side so together the two agencies can ensure that emergency response systems worldwide are efficient, reliable, and capable of providing timely assistance to those in need.

Recently, NGA 911 LLC in the US and NGA 911 Philippines participated in the NENA 2025 Long Beach Conference Program that showcased how Next Generation 911 technology can transform public safety and emergency response, and also became a NENA member.

Public safety professionals and agencies from around the world explored innovations in emergency communication at the conference where the transformation of Logan County’s 911’s dispatch center into a next-generation emergency response hub was a key highlight. The adoption of advanced systems such as Next Generation 911 (NG911), real-time mapping and GPS tracking, and seamless communication platforms revolutionized how the county’s public safety hub performed was demonstrated. These technologies enable faster, clearer, and more coordinated responses between dispatchers and first responders.

NGA 911 Philippines has been responsible for upgrading the public safety systems of various LGUs and institutions in the Philippines to guarantee immediate and accurate response to emergency calls in the National Capital Region and other parts of the country. LGUs already served by NGA 911 Philippines like Morong, Rizal; Alaminos City, Pangasinan; Cebu City, Cagayan De Oro City, Municipality of Mambajao in Camiguin Island, and Bustos, Bulacan have reported on how their emergency response capabilities have been revolutionized by the NGA 911 technology.

NGA 911 uses cutting-edge technology to improve communication, location accuracy, and data sharing between emergency service providers and link them together to address an emergency call. Moving beyond traditional voice-only calls, the NGA 911 technology enables to public to use multimedia text, photos and videos with their calls. These are then processed by the system to ensure faster call routing and enhanced location services. The result is quicker, more efficient, and coordinated responses during emergencies.

With the NENA membership, NGA 911 Philippines can better assure LGUs and institutions that its services conform to the highest global standards in emergency response.

Becoming a NENA member opens doors to transformative opportunities in public safety because NENA plays a key role in shaping the future of emergency services through its standards, training, and technological support. NENA standard technologies enable faster response times, real-time data sharing, GPS tracking, and seamless communication between dispatchers and first responders.

For the Philippines, adopting NENA standards and NG911 infrastructure offers the potential to modernize the country’s 911 services. Benefits include enhanced agency coordination, improved training for emergency personnel, and more efficient, data-driven resource management. Ultimately, these innovations are expected to improve response times and elevate the quality of emergency care across the nation.

MPT Mobility powers entrepreneurial expansion beyond Metro Manila

As the expressway network of Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC) continues to expand, entrepreneurs across the Philippines are discovering new opportunities beyond the capital. At the forefront of this movement is MPT Mobility, empowering business owners to reach underserved markets and streamline operations through smart, tech-enabled mobility solutions.

MPT Mobility Helps Entrepreneurs Break Boundaries

With MPT Mobility providing digital tools that support seamless travel across major expressways, entrepreneurs are no longer limited by geography. From Cavite to Cebu, improved infrastructure and smart mobility services are redefining the way business is done.

Thanks to innovations like Easytrip RFID and the MPT DriveHub app, business owners can now plan their routes, manage toll expenses, and monitor traffic in real time. These solutions simplify logistics and reduce travel friction—critical for businesses expanding to provincial markets.

Why More Entrepreneurs Are Going Beyond Metro Manila

Metro Manila’s traffic congestion, high operational costs, and intense competition are prompting businesses to explore alternative growth hubs. With over 600 kilometers of connected expressways nationwide, travel times between urban centers and emerging regions have been drastically reduced, unlocking the potential of untapped local economies.

According to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), improved expressway access is a major factor driving business decentralization. As MPT Mobility enhances the travel experience across the NLEXSCTEXCAVITEXCALAX, and CCLEX corridors, doing business outside the capital has never been more practical—or profitable.

    MPT Mobility

    Real Growth in the Regions

This shift is supported by strong economic data. From January to November 2024, the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) recorded PHP 186.1 billion in approved investments—a 32% increase from the previous year. These projects, many located outside Metro Manila, are expected to create 60,000 jobs and generate over USD 3 billion in exports.

Economic growth across key regions reflects this trend. In 2023, Central Luzon posted a 6.1% GDP increase, CALABARZON and Davao Region followed closely, while Central Visayas led with 7.3% growth. Entrepreneurs tapping into these markets benefit from lower costs, local incentives, and reduced saturation.

MPT Mobility Enables Smarter Business Travel

By offering digital solutions that simplify toll payments and improve travel planning, MPT Mobility equips entrepreneurs with the tools to efficiently operate across multiple regions.

    • Easytrip RFID ensures cashless, contactless toll payments.
    • MPT DriveHub gives users complete control over their travel—from tracking expenses to managing RFID balances.

These features allow businesses to optimize supply chains and reduce overhead, enabling them to reinvest savings into growth and innovation.
