The global competition invites artists and everyday creators to submit original digital works across five categories for a share of USUSD20,000 in prizes.
The HUAWEI GoPaint Worldwide Creating Activity 2026 is now open for submissions, inviting digital artists, professional creators, and everyday enthusiasts worldwide, including those in the Philippines.
Participants can submit original digital artworks until January 31, 2027. The competition builds on a global community that has contributed more than 10,000 submissions over the past two years, and all entries must be created using a HUAWEI tablet and the GoPaint app.
Five categories for different creative styles
This year’s competition expands to five categories.
Returning categories include Digital Watercolor and Ink, Sci-Fi Art, Cutting Edge Paintings, and Narrative Art, while the new Easy Creation category offers a more accessible entry point for aspiring digital artists.
For Easy Creation, participants can take a photo using a HUAWEI smartphone or tablet and then paint directly over the image using the GoPaint app. The format gives newer creators a simpler way to experiment with digital art while still producing an original final piece.
Two ways to submit
Artists can submit through either a HUAWEI MatePad or the HUAWEI Community platform.
For a quick MatePad entry, users can select an image from their gallery, tap Share, choose the My HUAWEI app, and proceed to the contest page. Web submissions can be made by opening the competition page through HUAWEI Community, logging in with a HUAWEI ID, and uploading the artwork.
USUSD20,000 total prize pool
HUAWEI will select 20 outstanding works, with each winner receiving an Honorable Mention and a pre-tax cash prize of USUSD1,000.
The total prize pool is USUSD20,000. Winning works may also be featured through HUAWEI’s global showcases, including press conferences, exhibitions, brand events, and social media channels, while selected pieces could appear as HUAWEI Themes wallpapers or customized merchandise.
Some winners may also be invited to participate in video interviews about the ideas and creative process behind their work.
International jury to evaluate entries
Entries will first be evaluated by eight preliminary judges before selected works move on to a final jury.
The final panel includes Dezio, French urban artist and co-founder of Urban Art United; Dalton Grant Jr., American art director, animation director, and writer at Maple Toons; and Victo Ngai, an illustrator and the first ethnic Chinese recipient of the Society of Illustrators’ Hamilton King Award.
Judging will take place from February to May 2027, after submissions close.
HUAWEI tablets positioned for digital creation
The competition also highlights HUAWEI’s tablet lineup for artists.
The MatePad Pro 12.2-inch 2025 and MatePad 12 X NEW are both priced at PHP49,999, while the MatePad 11.5 S 2026 is available at PHP39,999. The MatePad 11.5 2025 and MatePad 11.5 2026 start at PHP27,999.
These devices are positioned around different creative needs, from more advanced digital-art workflows to portable everyday sketching and illustration.
Filipino creators can submit entries through HUAWEI’s official competition channels until January 31, 2027.
