Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) has recently tied up with the Department of Energy and the University of the Philippines National Engineering Center (UP-NEC) to form the 1’M Blue Eco-Safe Driving Campaign. The campaign is conducting seminars on fuel efficiency for road transport in ten key cities in the Philippines from January to May 2013.
HCPI’s corporate social responsibility is to preserve the environment around them under the slogan “Blue Skies For Our Children.” The 1’M Blue Eco-Safe Driving Campaign seeks to influence driver and fleet consciousness and behavior on fuel efficiency and safety, generate individual and collective support for eco-safe driving, provide practical learning tools that will help create and sustain not only a change of behavior in how public vehicles are driven, but also to reduce pollutants from vehicles, their impact on our health, fuel consumption, and carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions.
The seminar shares the government’s energy efficiency program and the rationale of eco-safe driving. It also covers practical tips on driving practices that save fuel and proper vehicle maintenance. There are 20 half-day sessions for public utility drivers and operators. These sessions will be held in five cities in Luzon (Metro Manila, Baguio, Pampanga, Legaspi, and Laoag), three in the Visayas (Cebu, Iloilo, and Tacloban) and two in Mindanao (Davao and Cagayan de Oro).
This program is a collaboration among 12 organizations. HCPI has teamed up with the Philippine Business for the Environment, Clean Air Asia, PAC Fleet Solutions, Honda Safety Driving Center, GMA Network, Climate Change Commission, Department of Energy, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Department of Transportation and Communications, Metro Manila Development Authority, and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority.
