As the country’s education system is set to shift into virtual learning amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Acer Philippines—the country’s leading brand in the PC market—in partnership with technology company, Intel, recently launched its Acer-Intel Scholar Program, which aims to donate laptops to select and deserving students from its Acer Academy member schools.
The program is in line with Acer Academy’s goal to provide educators the digital framework that will enable a new way of interaction within the education environment, by creating a program tailored specifically for education.
“Now that most of the schools are shifting to online teaching, we, At Acer, hope to provide students who may need proper tools to be able to adjust to the ‘new normal’ and new ways of learning. We are here to help them,” said Acer Philippines’ general manager, Sue Ong-Lim.
“This is our way of giving back to the future of our nation—the Filipino students—who are facing challenges on how to continue with their education given the special requirements of remote learning brought about by the pandemic,” Ong-Lim added.
For the Acer-Intel Scholar Program, interested member schools should send a letter of intent to nominate their scholars with a brief profile of their scholarship program. The recipient school then promotes the partnership between the school, Acer, and Intel via social media and other platforms available to them.
The Acer Academy program is open to all Philippine private and public schools, colleges, and universities. Deadline for applications is on June 15, 2020, while announcement of the program’s recipients and release of device donations will be on or before July 15, 2020.The program boasts of a dedicated Education Team who works closely with learning institutions to develop real and innovative IT solutions that accelerate the learning process and set new benchmarks in educational standards.
