Vermosa Green Run, the pioneering advocacy event that helped bring communities back to the tracks after the pandemic, is returning for its fifth consecutive staging on June 28, 2026, at Vermosa in Imus, Cavite.
Over the years, the event has attracted fitness enthusiasts, casual runners, elite athletes, families, and pet lovers. This year, organizers are placing an even stronger focus on sustainability by introducing initiatives that encourage participants to take an active role in environmental conservation while embracing healthy lifestyles.
Set against Vermosa’s lush open spaces and scenic running routes, the event continues to highlight the connection between active living and environmental stewardship.
Running for a greener future
The fifth edition of the Green Run introduces additional eco-conscious elements designed to deepen participants’ appreciation for sustainable living. Organizers hope that running through the event’s nature-filled course will inspire more people to become advocates for conservation and responsible resource use.
This year’s race features 3K, 5K, 10K, and 21K running categories, along with a 1K Dog Run for pet owners and their companions.
Turning waste into opportunity
Participants can receive race kit discounts by bringing used PET (polyethylene terephthalate) water bottles or food containers during registration. The collected materials will be turned over to Makati Development Corporation (MDC), where they will be upcycled into eco bricks that support sustainable construction and community initiatives.
The sustainability effort extends to the race kits themselves. Race shirts, singlets, and dog bandanas will all be produced using recycled PET bottles, reinforcing the event’s commitment to responsible resource use.
Supporting forest restoration
Green Run 2026 also encourages participants to join as groups. Every group of 10 registrants automatically becomes part of the Haribon Foundation’s Forests for Life Movement, supporting native tree planting and forest restoration projects in communities nationwide.
The initiative follows Haribon’s science-based rainforestation approach, which focuses on planting and nurturing native tree species. Beyond tree planting, the program seeks to create long-term ecological impact by helping restored forests mature into thriving ecosystems that support clean water, fertile soil, and climate stability.
Beyond conservation
The Green Run remains anchored in holistic wellness, sports development, and animal welfare. Co-beneficiaries Haribon Foundation, Takbo Kabitenyo, and Pawssion Project reflect the event’s broader message that environmental protection, community well-being, and animal welfare are interconnected.
The event will once again utilize the facilities of the Ayala Vermosa Sports Hub, providing participants with access to one of the country’s premier venues for athletic training and active lifestyles.
Race day experience
Organizers said the 2026 edition will continue to implement responsible hydration systems and waste-reduction measures throughout race day. The goal is to encourage participants to carry environmentally conscious habits beyond the finish line and into their daily lives.
