The Rotaract Club of Calumpit announces the launch of “Breaking Barriers,” a trailblazing initiative dedicated to championing the rights of persons with disabilities (PWD) and children. This project challenges the stigma surrounding disabilities by fostering inclusivity and community engagement. With this year’s theme, “Embracing Diversity, Empowering the Future,” the initiative seeks to create a society where PWDs are not just included but celebrated.
Project Overview:
“Breaking Barriers” serves as a dynamic platform to elevate the voices of PWDs, children, advocates, and experts. The initiative is designed to spark meaningful dialogues and community service projects that drive substantial social change. The project zeroes in on three pivotal areas:
- Advocacy and Awareness: Launching targeted campaigns and community activities to shine a light on the challenges PWDs face and the necessity of inclusivity.
- Education and Empowerment: Offering resources, educational opportunities, skills development, and employment support to help PWDs realize their full potential.
- Community Building: Creating supportive networks that help PWDs connect, share experiences, and foster a stronger, more inclusive community.

Community Impact
Thanks to an overwhelming response to our donation drive, the Rotaract Club of Calumpit raised USD550, which funded distribution kits, school supplies, and logistical needs. Club members meticulously managed the project from planning to execution, ensuring every detail was perfectly executed.
Distribution of Kits
- School Supply Kits: Featured custom-made PWD learning books, coloring books, notebooks, pencils, crayons, erasers, sharpeners, paper pads, and scissors.
- Hygiene Kits: Included vitamins, alcohol, and online consultation calling cards for PWDs.
Program Activities
The events were filled with enriching activities such as storytelling, mentoring, coloring sessions, handwashing, and oral hygiene education. Mothers attended seminars on the psychological and mental health of their PWD children. Additionally, school materials and food packs were generously distributed.
