Realifilm is an annual film festival hosted by Silip@Lente. It serves as an inter-school competition available to all undergraduate student filmmakers, not just at Adamson University but also at colleges across the country. Silip@Lente—AdU aims to provide opportunities for all the passionate and talented college students who strive to be professional filmmakers in the future. By catering to participants from both inside and outside the university, the competition aims to showcase the creativity and art of storytelling in various genres of filmmaking.
The registration, which started on February 7, 2022, was announced to run until March 8, 2022. All of the selected films by the respective production teams will be featured and showcased at the Realifilm Film Festival on March 19, via Zoom.
This is the second Realifilm to be held in a pandemic, but this time Silip@Lente is confined to camp with the theme “Go Overboard: Withstand Obstacles of Disarray“.
According to Emmelyn Bela-ong, the academic directress of Silip@Lente—AdU, this year’s Realifilm aims to empower students despite these difficult circumstances as the theme revolves around facing all the barriers created by the pandemic.
“We made this possible to give them a platform to showcase what our young filmmakers got today, their talents, passion, and dedication. Our goal is to help them shine as they continue to believe that they can contribute to the life of our country’s filmmaking industry in the future.”
When it comes to the eligibility of film entries, participants must follow the government’s local restrictions. Hence, all participating student film productions are instructed to avoid shooting outside and follow health protocols.
Aside from that, Ms. Grace Mayate, the event directress and the vice president for Internal Affairs of Silip@Lente—AdU, made it clear how she wants the participants to make the most of their abilities despite the limitations imposed by the pandemic.
“The theme is about overcoming obstacles amidst the pandemic. As stated in the mechanics, the film should be aligned with the theme, with that being said, film entries should have [been] done during the times of this pandemic.”
On top of the film festival, there will also be a 2-session WebinarSerye scheduled on the 12th and 13th of March. With the 150 target participants, the WebinarSerye will be led by exceptional guest speakers who will share their knowledge and experiences about the ins and outs of the filmmaking industry.
This event will gear up the skills of the participants that they need to become tomorrow’s leading filmmakers in the country, and possibly, in the whole world; all made possible by:
