Wise has expanded its services in the Philippines with new capabilities for receiving and spending Philippine pesos, including local PHP account details for users abroad, QR Ph payments, and higher real-time receiving limits for business customers.
The additions build on Wise’s direct connections to InstaPay and PESONet and are aimed at Filipinos who increasingly live, work, and earn across multiple currencies. Wise also points to growing international mobility among younger Filipinos, citing a figure that 81% are willing to live and work abroad.
Receive PHP using local account details
Wise customers in the Philippines can already receive major currencies such as USD, GBP, and AUD using account details. The company is now extending similar functionality to Philippine pesos.
Filipinos living outside the country, as well as other Wise users globally, can now obtain PHP account details through Wise without opening a traditional local bank account or visiting a branch. These details can be shared with employers, clients, friends, and family to receive PHP transfers through InstaPay and PESONet.
Wise positions the capability as particularly relevant to Filipinos living overseas, as well as people who receive payments from multiple markets.
QR Ph payments directly from Wise
Wise customers can now also scan and pay using QR Ph for local transactions in the Philippines, directly from their Wise balance.
Payments can be made using PHP or another currency held in a Wise Account. This allows travelers visiting the Philippines to make QR Ph payments without opening a local bank account or e-wallet.
Freelancers and other users receiving international payments can also set an Auto Conversion target rate to convert earnings into PHP. They can then use the converted funds for purchases or bill payments in the Philippines through the Wise app.
Higher InstaPay limits for businesses
Wise is also increasing the amount that Business Account customers can receive through InstaPay for Business.
Eligible customers can now receive instant domestic payments of up to PHP 500,000. Wise says the capability is enabled by its direct connection to InstaPay and is intended to support small businesses that depend on incoming payments for expenses such as payroll, inventory, and supplier payments.
“Managing international money is becoming an everyday reality for many Filipinos as they increasingly live and do business across borders,” said Areson Cuevas, country manager of Wise Philippines. “By integrating with domestic payment networks, we’re making the Philippine Peso more accessible, helping Wise customers move money into, out of, and across the Philippines in a much faster, cheaper and simpler way.”
Expanding Wise services in the Philippines
Wise launched in the Philippines in 2024 and has since expanded its consumer and business services through Wise Account and Card, Wise Business, and Wise Platform.
Its partnership with GoTyme Bank also enables customers to send money directly to more than 200 countries and territories through the GoTyme Bank app.
The latest additions extend Wise’s local payment infrastructure further by combining cross-border money management with domestic PHP receiving and spending capabilities.
In Summary
Wise has expanded its Philippines offering with PHP account details for Filipinos abroad and other Wise users globally, QR Ph payments directly from Wise balances, and InstaPay for Business receiving limits of up to PHP 500,000. The new capabilities build on Wise’s connections to InstaPay and PESONet and are designed to support consumers, freelancers, travelers, and businesses managing money across borders.
