Siemens Healthineers presents Imaging Sessions Online 2022 (ISO 2022), a 3-day virtual symposium on August 3 – 5, 2022 set to tackle clinical challenges being faced in the country with the goal of achieving the best possible outcome for patients. Started in 2021, ISO 2022 aims to further nurture physicians and technologists alike through continuing medical education platforms.
Lung cancer impact many lives, making it the leading cause of death worldwide with over 1.7 million dying every year. According to the Global Cancer Observatory (GCO), the Philippines recorded 19,180 new lung cancer cases in 2020 – ranking it as the second most common type of cancer after breast. This makes up 12.5% out of the overall 153,751 new cases of cancer detected for both men and women. Furthermore, studies indicate 18.4% deaths related to this life-threatening disease. Even with availability and advancement of treatment, lung cancer is the primary cause of cancer-related deaths in the country for reasons that it is asymptomatic at the early stages and is detected often too late with a poor survival prognosis.
This year, Siemens Healthineers will take a deep dive on to the early detection, diagnosis, and treatment strategies along the lung cancer clinical pathway in its bid to shape the future of lung cancer therapy. With medical technologies being at the center of clinical decision-making, the online symposium will cover how imaging systems such as computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and positron emission tomography – computed tomography (PET/CT) play vital roles in the early detection, diagnosis – including staging and monitoring – of lung cancer. Furthermore, it will also tackle personalized treatment strategies through targeted radiation therapy.
Through a virtual conference hosted online, Siemens Healthineers will gather leading medical experts from the Philippines and abroad to share their insights, experiences, and knowledge on battling this deadly disease. Designed to cover the three key pillars along the care continuum, each day will showcase the following topics: Early Detection & Diagnosis, Cancer Therapy, and Monitoring and Treatment Follow-up, respectively.
ISO 2022 will also feature international speakers such as Dr. Francesco Fraioli from the University of London, England and Prof. Dr. med. Julien Dinkel from Asklepios Thoracic Hospital Gauting in Munich, Germany, as well as local experts Dr. Marc James Delos Santos of QualiMed Hospital in Bulacan, Dr. Joseph Leonardo Obusan of the Lung Center of the Philippines, and Dr. Frances Lily Peñano of St. Luke’s Medical Center.
As a leading medtech company, Siemens Healthineers is committed to helping fight the world’s most threatening diseases — together with the professional healthcare world over. Registration for the symposium is free, while CME and CPD units will be credited to the participants registered under the Philippine Regulatory Commission.
