After a record-breaking 2015 that saw further sales growth and the brand taking the number two spot in the country’s passenger car segment, Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) is looking to continue its momentum with the launch of the all-new Mitsubishi Montero. Featuring a more aggressive exterior, comfier interior, and refined engine, the updated Montero Sport is looking to make its mark on the local midsize SUV scene.
It’s characterized by a new Dynamic Shield Concept fascia at the front and vertical tube-type LED tail lamps at the rear. Sharp contour lines, and blistered front fenders and quarter panels all contribute to the vehicle’s unique stance while also improving its aerodynamic performance.
Inside are seven leather-wrapped and contoured seats in a 2-3-2 layout. On the center stack is a multimedia entertainment system with dual zone automatic climate control. The first takes the form of a 6.75-inch capacitive touchscreen with DVD, MP3, AUX, and USB inputs, on top of Bluetooth connectivity with smartphone mirroring and GPS navigation features.
Performance features include the Super Select 4WD-II with Off-road mode selector, Mitsubishi Active Stability and Traction Control, Hill Descent Control, Hill Start Assist, and 700mm wading depth. For safety, the Montero Sport is equipped with 7 SRS airbags, a Forward Collision Mitigation System, Blind Spot Warning System, and strong RISE body construction.
Powering the all-new Montero Sport is a 4-cylinder DOHC 16-valve 2.4L Clean Diesel engine with the Mitsubishi Innovative Valve timing Electronic Control (MIVEC) system. Not only is the power plant cleaner and more eco-friendly, it’s also more efficient, outing 181PS @ 3500RPM and 430Nm of torque @ 2500RPM. It’s mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission with sports mode that further enhances its fuel efficiency.
The Montero Sport is available in savanna white, sterling silver metallic, virgil gray, deep bronze metallic, Sedona red, mystic blue, and pyrenese black. Its four local variants are priced as follows:

- GLS Premium 4×2 AT at PHP 1,685,000
- GLS 4×4 MT at PHP 1,785,000
- GT 4×4 AT at PHP 1,998,000
