Auto Nation Group, the official distributor of Mercedes-Benz in the Philippines, has just unveiled the new A-Class in the country. A synergy of modern luxury and breakthrough technology, the A-Class redefines modern luxury with its intuitive digital user experience and an uncompromising, dynamic design.
The A-Class, first launched in 2007, has always been in the forefront of automotive innovation and breakthrough being the first hatchback luxury car. More than 20 years later, the fourth generation Mercedez-Benz A-Class is smarter and sportier for the new generation.
Unrivalled Experience
The new A-Class is the first Mercedes-Benz model to feature the completely new infotainment system, MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience). A unique feature of this system is its ability to learn thanks to artificial intelligence. MBUX can be individualized and adapts to certain user driving behaviors.
Its highlight is the comprehensive touch operation concept–the combination of a 10.25-inch touchscreen, touchpad on the center console and Touch-Control buttons in the steering wheel. In addition to the intuitive operating experience, at the heart of the MBUX system is a highly intelligent virtual assistant, which is activated by pressing a button in the steering wheel or by simply saying, “Hey Mercedes”. It responds to voice commands for allowing infotainment functions such as destination input, music selection, climate control, and ambient lighting.
The MBUX comes with a natural speech recognition program that helps it to recognize and understand nearly all sentences from the fields of multimedia and vehicle operation.
Modern Luxury
The design of the new A-Class is a combination of uncompromisingly dynamic design and an intuitive operating concept. The purist, surface-accentuating design of the new A-Class is the next step in the Mercedes-Benz design philosophy of Sensual Purity.
The exterior of the new A-Class stands for sportiness, dynamism and emotion. The progressive front design with a low bonnet, flat LED headlamps with chrome elements and torch-like daytime driving lamps ensures an emotionally appealing and alluring appearance.
The interior design of the new A-Class is completely redefined with its modern, avantgarde look, revolutionising the compact class from the inside with a new feeling of spaciousness. The new A-Class also comes with a high-resolution Widescreen Cockpit with touchscreen control–a new standard in the segment. It is featured with an all-digital instrument panel display that can be switched to different styles from “Classic”, “Understated” or “Sport” mode complementing the turbine-look air-vents and leather multifunction sports steering wheel.
The widescreen cockpit is completely free-standing, and for the first time, there are absolutely no cockpit cowls above the instruments. The sporty air vents in a turbine-look are another highlight.
The A200 Edition 1 sports an ambient lighting functionality that creates a mood inside the car while driving. The driver can also individually configure different moods with the extended ambient lighting from 64 colors available, which can be activated via voice command.
Safety and Performance
Like all Mercedes-Benz vehicles, the new A-Class is loaded with world-class safety features such as Active Brake Assist, Active Parking Assist with Parktronic and rearview camera, and 7 airbags. It also has an anti-theft alarm package and Tirefit with tire inflator in case of road emergencies.
Under the hood, the A200 Edition 1 and A200 Progressive are both powered by a 1.3L 7-speed DCT engine with a power of 163hp and 250Nm of torque while the A180 Progressive sports a 1.3L 7-speed DCT engine with a power of 136hp and 200Nm of torque.
