Resized 1Taking center stage in world summits and forums is the pressing issue on global warming. The world as we know it will crumble right before our eyes if immediate action isn’t taken. This development concern is what the introduction of the E-Trikebayan aims to resolve.

Taking little, but hopeful strides towards reducing carbon footprint, EVWealth Inc.–a subsidiary of Guevent Investments Development Corporation (GIDC)—on September 29 formally launched the E-Trikebayan. This green, automotive innovation is the answer to the widespread pollution caused by the many noisy and fuel-hungry tricycles saturating local TODAs across the Philippines.

EVWealth has pledged to campaign this sustainable and proudly Filipino-made alternative in the country, planting its first seed in the city of Mandaluyong—where the first fleet of electric-powered tricycles made its first commercial run. The company will provide end to end solutions to those who make the green shift. Assisting drivers with an E-Trikebayan unit packaged with LTO registration and insurance, and also equipping them with know-how through regular training and seminars on operations, maintenance, road safety and courtesy, basic entrepreneurship, and finance.

Ricardo S. Guevara, GIDC chairman and president, shared his vision on how E-Trikebayan can change the current public transportation landscape. “This is clearly a new movement in ‘green’ public transportation and we are immensely proud to present a sustainable alternative, and at the same time, real entrepreneurial opportunities for driver-owners.”

He added, “With the initial launch of E-Trikebayan, the people of Mandaluyong can expect comfortable and quieter rides around town. Even the driver-owners can look forward to acquiring their very own E-Trikebayan units via affordable financing plans.”

According to EVWealth the last quarter of 2014 will usher in 100 new E-Trikebayans, along with three battery-swapping stations which will be initially set-up in Plainview, Mauway, and Bagong Silang.

On paper, the E-Trikebayan can run a 40 kilometers distance on a full charge with maximum speeds of up to over 50kph. This tricycle retails for PHP 315,000 or customers can opt for an affordable amortization rate. The latter encourages “trike” drivers to be their own boss; E-trikebayan comes with a daily amortization fee of PHP 275 (for 3.5 years) for a unit. With E-trikebayan’s increased carrying capacity of 6 passengers, savings from battery, and lower maintenance costs, all of which can initially increase one’s daily take-home pay. This “etrikepreneurs”concept also means there are no more boundaries and no more leasing to constrict the average “trike” driver.
