The 2016 Ford Explorer came out last month sporting Ford’s innovative EcoBoost tech. The reinvigorated SUV struts a 2.3L power plant producing 274 PS @ 5500 rpm and maximum 408 Nm of torque @ 3500 rpm. The fuel-efficient engine is mated to a 6-speed SelectShift automatic gearbox, with MacPherson struts in the front and independent multilink suspensions in the rear.
Traffic jams have been made more bearable thanks to the on board Sony audio system with CD, MP3, and Bluetooth inputs. It also has two fast-charging USB ports for topping your devices’ batteries’ on-the-go, as well as plenty of 12-volt auxiliary power points throughout the cabin. Displays inside include an 8-inch LCD color touch screen on the center stack and two 4.2-inch driver-configurable color LCDs on the instrument cluster.
City driving has been made easier and safer with front park assist technology and a 180-degree front camera with washer. Other protection features include 4-disc wheel brakes with anti-lock breaking system (ABS); airbags for the driver, front passenger, side seats, and side canopy; perimeter alarm; blind spot information system (BLIS) with cross-traffic alert; S.O.S post-crash alert system; and traction control. You can also rest easy at night with this model’s Securilock Passive/Active Anti-Theft (PATS) feature.
All these are wrapped by the new Explorer’s robust exterior design. It stands on 20-inch premium painted aluminum wheels, and its face boasts of a heightened silver-painted grille with chrome bars, complemented by LED headlamps, front fog lamps, and LED daytime running lights. The new closed-off lower roof rack and rear spoiler also helps the vehicle slice through the air.
The 2016 Ford Explorer 2.3L Limited EcoBoost variant retails for PHP 2,479,000 and is available in tuxedo black, white platinum, and magnetic metallic colors.
