Ford Philippines today announced 2018 retail sales of 23,571 vehicles, driven by record full-year sales of the segment-defining Ranger pickup truck.
The Ranger’s full-year retail sales rose 9 percent to an all-time best 11,604 vehicles, and was Ford’s top-seller in the Philippines in 2018.
The Ranger capped off its second best month for the year in December with sales of 1,230 vehicles.
“The ‘Built Ford Tough’ Ranger truly underscored our retail performance in 2018,” said Bertrand Lessard, managing director, Ford Philippines. “The successful launch of the new Ranger helped to solidify its role of setting the benchmark in the pickup truck segment.”
Ford launched the new Ranger lineup in the Philippines in September, which consists of nine different variants, including the first-ever Ranger Raptor, the popular high-series Wildtrak, sporty XLT, and more utilitarian XLS variants.
The new Ranger lineup features two new-generation powertrains – the 2.0L Bi-Turbo and 2.0L Single Turbo engines, as well as the proven Duratorq engine – helping further strengthen the Ranger’s ‘Built Ford Tough’ appeal among Filipino customers.
The iconic Mustang also delivered its best full-year performance with sales increasing by 6 percent to 432 vehicles.
Ford launched the new Mustang in 2018 with a choice of two engines: the powerful 5.0L V8 and more economical 2.3L EcoBoost.
The sleek and technologically-advanced new Mustang delivers more athletic styling, sophisticated engine and suspension enhancements, advanced driver assistance features and more customization options.
The Everest mid-size SUV contributed to Ford’s 2018 performance with full-year sales of 5,813 vehicles, including December sales of 407 vehicles.
The Everest continues to raise the bar for mid-sized SUVs with its best-in-segment 800mm water wading capability, outstanding fuel efficiency, and its advanced connectivity and driver-assistance technologies that make it one of the smartest and safest vehicles in its segment.
The EcoSport compact SUV achieved full-year sales of 5,024 vehicles, capped off by December sales of 221 vehicles.
The new EcoSport is street smart with a bolder look and design, refined interior, smart and safety features, and driver-assist technologies, and boasts improved performance through a 1.0L EcoBoost engine or new and more powerful 1.5-L TiVCT engine with 6-speed automatic transmission.
Ford made strides in improving the ownership experience in 2018 by making its cost of ownership more competitive, effectively lowering costs for scheduled service maintenance across its nationwide Ford dealership network.
Ford also continued the expansion of its dealer network last year with the opening of two new locations in Clark, Pampanga and Baliuag, Bulacan, bringing the total number of Ford dealers across the country to 48 outlets.
