Motorsport prodigy Jacq Buncio was named the overall champion of the Heavyweight B Category at the recently concluded 2017 Pirelli Philippine Superbike Championship.
Despite having just recovered from the hospital a day before the race, Buncio successfully sped her way to the finish line, conquering Clark International Speedway. The racing pro garnered 10 and 13 points in Race 1 and 2, respectively, and accumulated a six-leg total of 222 points. This entailed a huge 54-point lead over second place Andrey Blinov (162) and a 56-point edge over third-ranked Edding Norbidieri.
Notably, Buncio has been making waves in the sport at a young age. At 17, she is already the youngest female overall champion of any class in superbikes. She has also been competing on her much smaller 600 cc Yamaha R-6 against her competitors’ 1000 cc and above racing machines.
Total, a proud supporter of Buncio’s racing career, has organized a victory party to celebrate this feat.
“Total has a proud motorsports heritage and has been supporting motorsports talents in major races for many years. We are honored to be a partner of Jacq Buncio who embodies teh drive for excellence and competitive spirit of Hi Perf,” said Raymond Decena, vice president for Lubricants and Specialties at Total.
Deceno continued, “our high performance motorcycle engine oil, Total Hi Perf is the perfect complement to Jacq’s competitive edge on the road and on the race track.”
