After the global launch of the Hiace in the country last February, Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) has unveiled the brand’s all-new Hiace Super Grandia, the luxury model of the Hiace van.
“With the Philippines as the debut country for the 6th generation all-new Hiace, and being recognized as the biggest Hiace market in the world outside of Japan, the country truly has earned its place in Hiace history. Today, we continue our Hiace story by adding another powerhouse mover to our formidable lineup,” said Satoru Suzuki, President, Toyota Motor Philippines.
Mr. Suzuki added that the Hiace has garnered a massive 54.6 percent the market for its segment in year-to-date as of July.
The All-New Hiace Super Grandia has a 2.8-liter 1GD-FTV Diesel engine capable of 174 hp and 450 Nm of Torque. The engine is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. Beneath the van are McPherson Strut suspensions in the front which gives the vehicle great handling and stability, while the 4-Link Coil Spring suspension at the back reduces cabin noise, vibration, and road harshness for a smooth and comfortable ride even on long drives.
What makes the new Super Grandia standout is the attention to detail Toyota has given it, elevating the sense of luxury for a family van.
According to Toyota, the new Super Grandia embodies grand luxury and omotenashi, Japanese for hospitality. A series of developments on the design, performance, and safety features gives the luxury van a refined exterior, an inviting interior and most important of all a comfortable ride for both driver and passengers.
On the exterior, Toyota has given the Super Grandia chrome accents all-around but the front grille merging with the bi-beam LED headlampsefinitely gives the van a more elegant look.
Greeting passengers inside are the 4-way power adjust captain seats with Ottoman in the first two rows. For bigger groups the Hiace Super Grandia also has bench type seats at the back that could fit four more passengers. Toyota has equipped the van with personal reading lamps which gives passengers a sense of personal control and convenience. The cars interior illumination can also be adjusted to the passengers’ preference with the Elite variant given the option to change color to blue, amber, or white.
The Super Grandia Elite variant is also the vehicle in TMP’s lineup to feature the brand’s Toyota Safety Sense (TSS). TSS incorporates active safety features which identify factors that may cause accidents and aid the driver in eliminating these factors. Features for this variant include the Pre-Collision System (PCS), Lane Departure Alert (LDA), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), and Automatic High Beam (AHB).
For the other variants, the new Super Grandia is still very safe. All variant have ABS, vehicle stability control with brake assist, hill start assist, clearance and back sonars, a back monitor, nine SRS airbags, and emergency locking retractor 3-point seatbelts for the driver and all passengers.
