Toyota Motor Philippines Corporation (TMP) ended April with 9,467 units sold, bringing their overall sales since inception to over 1-million vehicles. Specifically, TMP has sold a total of 1,000,468 units since it started its operations in 1989, the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Inc. (CAMPI) reported.
The Toyota Tamaraw FX, Revo, and Innova combined for a cumulative 268,065 sales; the Corolla with 213,325; and the Vios with 157,347 in less than three decades. Of the 1-million figure, 615,899 came from their local manufacturing plant previously located in Bicutan and now in Santa Rosa, Laguna.
In a statement, TMP president Michinobu Sugata expressed, “Achieving this 1-million sales milestone is a great accomplishment for our company and the local automotive industry. We initially forecasted that this breakthrough will only be realized by the second semester of the year, but because of our continued strong sales, we achieved this feat three months ahead of time. Toyota Philippines’ 1-million sales milestone has been made possible in just 27 years, through the loyalty and trust of our customers and the strong partnerships and linkages we have forged with all our stakeholders. Truly, we owe this achievement to them. We, at Toyota, put to heart that achieving more than 1-million sales only means that we have already generated more than a million customer smiles. While this delights us, it further fuels us to serve our customers more fervently by consistently providing better products and services through our 47 dealers nationwide.”
“As the company reaps the fruits of its successes, TMP seriously takes on its commitment in driving the Philippines toward social and economic development. Aside from economic contributions through investments, taxes and duties paid, as well as stable employment generated, Toyota remains committed to invest in people and technology, as well as actively implement corporate social responsibility activities in the areas of health, education, environment, and community service. On top of making our customers smile, we also want to put a smile on the faces of many Filipinos by giving back to society,” Sugata further remarked.
