RIM’s BlackBerry PlayBook has not had an easy life, but ever since the PlayBook OS two-dot-oh update rolled around, there’s been a lot more interest in it. How much interest? Well, the Canadian firm reported in its quarterly earnings call that it’s managed to sell about 500,000 of their PlayBooks, which, when combined with the ones now in the wild, totals to a little over 1 million. The BlackBerry PlayBook is now enjoying a revival of sorts now that the basic functionality that everyone was expecting (native email app, calendar, Android apps) are now present after the 2.0 update. That doesn’t mean that the company is out of the woods yet of course, though current CEO Thorsten Heins is now trying to shake things up to make things better.
