Behind the success of the motor lube company is their careful and intelligent innovation dedicated for safer environment and for more comfortable ride.

Valvoline’s Eagle One EnviroShine revolutionary wash works hard and deep cleans even the most delicate surface. It does not contaminate water sources with its runoff, so you don’t have to worry about its environmental impact. Only four full caps to a bucket of water will do the tough job, and as a bonus, it leaves a peppermint scent.

Apart from that, its richness and lasting suds washes off the dirt. It is guaranteed to be safe to all finishes, does not strip wax, and it is also body shop safe. You’ll soon be amazed that you actually have a wash and a wax as well. Technical innovation is one of the secrets to Eagle One’s advantage over the other brands. This makes Eagle One the best choice for those who want their car to look fantastic while spending less time and effort doing it, as Eagle One products deliver quality performance in half the time. Environment wise, EnviroShine is uniquely safe in the atmosphere. It is non toxic, biodegradable, and free from harsh solvents, which are the various factors for healthier streams, rivers, and groundwater. Valvoline NextGen is not dirty oil that was only cleaned. It uses a newer refining process just like crude oil refining. NextGen selects only recycled base oils that meet exacting quality standards. This is to assure that the gas it emits is safer than the usual oils.

Recycled motor oil prevents used oil from contaminating the soil and water. It also uses 56 percent fewer resources compared to oil made without recycled content, and reduces the use of fossil fuels by 48 percent, lessens harmful and acidic emissions by 40 percent, and saves millions of barrels of crude oil versus conventional oil. Thus, Valvoline NextGen saves natural resources as well. In terms of quality, NextGen exceeds industry specifications for performance, protection, and durability, so you get 50% re-refined oil with 100% Valvoline protection. NextGen has proven that it is better for the environment.

The Valvoline Professional Series (VPS) air conditioning system cleaner and odor eliminator eliminates odor-causing elements like mold, mildew, fungi, and bacteria without the need to disassemble the unit. VPS also made cleaning the air conditioning unit easier and faster. In just five easy steps, the product cleans the air conditioning unit in as fast as 45 minutes thoroughly to help reduce future wear. The ultra foaming action neutralizes and helps clear the system of these harmful contaminants as the foam breaks down and liquefies back out of the air conditioning system. The Spearmint Scent after the treatment is an indication that it’s working already. This will disperse within six to 12 hours, leaving the system odorless. With the VPS air conditioning system cleaner, the time and cost spent on your air conditioning maintenance are reduced.

Valvoline’s products promise a healthier environment and are true to their word. They do not contain chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) or other substances that harm the ozone layer. With their lineup of green products, Valvoline never stops seeking only the best with no compromise for both environment and your car. Consumers are guaranteed with Valvoline’s confidence with their never ending innovation only to bring what they deserve.

The New Gmail Inbox. Better. Simpler. More Awesome.

    gmail video

We receive a lot of email. That’s just how things work there days. You’ve got personal correspondences, work mail, re-routed stuff from other inboxes, plus social streams and promos to which you are subscribed. That’s a lot of mail to sift through, and it get get pretty overwhelming, pretty fast.

The good folks at Google know the kind of stress a cluttered inbox brings, and have provided a solution: Tabs. The New Gmail Inbox now allows for tabbed segregation of all your Gmail email. You can have tabs for all the different facets of your life, so you don’t have to plod your way through the muck and mire of your email inbox. Social network alerts, bills, correspondences for work and life all get their own tabs under which relevant emails are placed. This greatly reduces the time searching, cursing and digging through mountains of read and unread conversations, and lets you just get on with things. If there are more facets to your life than the initial set provides for, don’t worry; you can give each of them their own tabs too.

I have had the pleasure of working with the new inbox for about a week now, and I have to say, it’s a huge help. Like many of our readers, I set my work email address to re-route to my personal account, so I only have to deal with one inbox. While this is nice and streamlined, it does carry with it the extra burden of having to find that one message in a whole cluttered mess of read messages. Tabs bring a much more efficient way of organizing that just works.

The new inbox will be rolling out to users over the course of the next few weeks, with updates to the mobile apps to follow shortly. If you want to get in on the action early, keep an eye on the little gear in your Gmail inbox, and hit “Configure inbox” when it comes up in the settings option. Once the roll-out hits, those set in the ways of old can revert to the previous, un-tabbed view (or any other inbox type), should the fancy strike them.

If you want to see the new inbox in action, hit this link HERE and take a quick look at the video Google has cooked up.

Isuzu D-MAX team scores top finishes in multisport and cycling events

    0

    2013 Isuzu D-MAX Multisport Photo 1

The Isuzu D-MAX Multisport Team has topped major sporting events held in March and April—the two most active months in the local adventure sports calendar.

Helping the team members in their various competitions is the equally adventurous Isuzu D-MAX pickup, which has proven to be a useful companion in hauling both the athletes and their sports equipment to numerous locations, thanks to its sturdy construction, comfortable cabin, and powerful yet fuel-efficient engine. The D-MAX LS 4×2 M/T was certified by the Automobile Association of the Philippines with a fuel efficiency of 19.3 km per liter.

Formerly called the Isuzu D-MAX Cycling Team, the team has since ventured into multisport competitions after adding multi-discipline athletes to their roster, like celebrity Matteo Guidicelli. Guidicelli topped the Ages 22-24 category of the XTerra Off-Road Triathlon Series held in Liloan, Cebu on March 2. The event comprised a 1.5-kilometer swim, 35-kilometer bike and 10-kilometer run race. Along with Guidicelli, D-MAX Team member Jesus del Carmen also dominated his class—the Ages 15-19 category. The feat allowed both Guidicelli and del Carmen to qualify for the event’s world championship. The event will be held in Hawaii in October.

On April 14, D-MAX Team members also clinched the top spots in the Giant XC Cup MTB Marathon that was held in the La Mesa Dam Reserve. In this cross-country mountain-biking event that tackled tough terrain, JM Mapacpac won the Ages 20-29 category, while Edward Tuazon won the Ages 50-and-above group. Jomer Lim took second place in the Ages 30-39 class.

The D-MAX team also ruled the Los Banos Rock Garden Downhill Race held on April 14 at the slopes of Mount Makiling in Laguna. Proving they were the best in cycling across a treacherous downhill course were Jerich Farr, who placed first among the professionals; Frederick Farr, who topped the experts; and Jing Malabanan, who led the aged 40-49 group.

At the Nuvali Dirt Weekend Invitational Cup held on April 27 and 28 in Santa Rosa City, Laguna, Frederick Farr dominated again with a victory in the Four Cross Experts class. Jerich Farr and Malabanan placed second in Four Cross Professionals and Ages 40-49 categories, respectively, in this event that called for riding skills in various off-road cycling activities.

Meanwhile, Guidicelli again displayed his winning form at the K-Swiss International Triathlon held on April 28 at Subic Bay, Zambales. In this prestigious event, the matinee idol managed a fourth-spot finish in the Ages 20-29 category, which was composed of competitors that came from various countries. For his part, Lim ended in seventh among the aged 30-39 group.

“The Isuzu D-MAX pickup’s track record for durability, reliability and fuel efficiency is unequivocal,” said Isuzu Philippines Corporation President Nobuo Izumina. “Its involvement with the Isuzu D-MAX Multisport Team, where it ably serves as a true active-lifestyle companion, adds another dimension to the truck’s capability. Like the multisport athletes, the D-MAX is multi-functional, too.”

NVIDIA releases NVIDIA GRID vGPU graphics for virtualized desktops

    nvidiagrid

NVIDIA announced that it is unleashing the full graphics potential of enterprise desktop virtualization through NVIDIA GRID vGPU, which is integrated into Citrix XenDesktop 7.

NVIDIA GRID vGPU technology addresses the entire bring your own device (BYOD) trend that has been taking place over the past several years, with businesses encouraging employees to bring their own notebooks and mobile devices to work rather than using traditional workstations such as desktop PCs. These workers now rely on desktop virtualization technologies for anytime access from mobile devices to computing resources, which were initially used for enterprise applications. Performance and compatibility constraints had made it difficult for applications such as building information management (BIM), product-lifestyle management (PLM) and video and photo editing, which require large amounts of processing power that mobile devices did not have.

Hardware-based graphics replaced software emulation two decades ago, and desktop virtualization solutions stood alone as the only modern computing form without dedicated graphics hardware. The virtualized CPU, which was already burdened, limited performance and software emulation and also limited application compatibility, until the non-virtualized GPU in Citrix XenServer. However, efficiency was still limited because each user still needed their own GPU.

With the introduction of new HDX GPU sharing and deep compression techniques in XenDesktop 7, NVIDIA and Citrix customers can take advantage of the hosted-shared form of desktop virtualization to deliver rich, graphics-intensive applications. The Microsoft Windows Server RDSH and XenDesktop 7 platform also enable the sharing of GPUs across multiple user sessions. The combination of Citrix XenServer and NVIDIA GRID vGPU also allows businesses to address a broader set of users across a spectrum of verticals. These people include architects, engineers and contractors using computer-aded design (CAD) tools, like Autodesk BIM; manufacturing businesses that want to automate the connection between the product design and operations using PLM tools such as Enovia 3DLive, PTC Windchill PLM Connector and SIEMENS TeamCenter software; digital content creation workers using video and photo editing tools like Adobe PhotoShop; and health care specialists using picture archiving and communication system (PACS) software, such as GE Centricity EMR.

Citrix CEO and President Mark Templeton introduced XenDesktop 7 with NVIDIA GRID vGPU technology today in his opening keynote address at the Citrix Synergy 2013 user conference. “With NVIDIA GRID vGPU, even the most intensive graphics applications can be delivered by XenDesktop 7,” said Bob Schultz, vice president and general manager, Desktops and Applications Group at Citrix. “Now businesses can provide their users with the performance that they expect and need for engineering, design and video applications, while centrally securing and managing valuable intellectual property and sensitive information.”

“For the first time, NVIDIA GRID vGPU gives users of virtualized desktops the performance, stability and compatibility of hardware-accelerated graphics,” said Jeff Brown, vice president and general manager of the GRID business unit at NVIDIA. “Millions of those involved in everything from product design to manufacturing to supply chain management can now enjoy the benefits of desktop and application virtualization with NVIDIA GRID vGPU technology.”

M7 Global Partners, which is a consortium of the top nine Citrix platinum-level IT providers in the US, announced its support for the NVIDIA GRID vGPU technology. The group reaches thousands of clients around the world. M7 customers are looking to deploy visually rich applications in businesses, healthcare settings and schools who have expressed interest in the capabilities of the NVIDIA GRID vGPU technology.

“I’ve been selling desktop virtualization solutions for 18 years and the single greatest source of pain in that time has been customers who want to centralize the delivery of graphics-intensive applications,” said Mike Strohl, CEO of Entisys Solutions, Inc., Agile360 and founding partner of M7 Global Partners. “The NVIDIA GRID vGPU is a game changer. At Entisys and across M7 we look forward to not only holding the spear, but to being at the tip of it as we bring to market this amazing technology, which our customers have truly been asking for.”

NVIDIA GRID vGPU technology is being shown in NVIDIA’s booth 303 and in the XenServer demonstration area at Citrix Synergy in Anaheim, California, through May 24. General availability is expected later this year. For more information, please check out NVIDIA GRID at www.nvidia.com/object/grid-boards.html.

ABS-CBN announces network-sharing partnership with Globe

    SAM_0433

ABS-CBN Chairman Eugenio Lopez III and Globe Telecom President/CEO Ernest Cu announce the network-sharing partnership between the two companies, alongside President/Managing Director of ABS-CBN Convergence, Inc. Carlo Katigbak and Globe Telecom Senior Adviser for Consumer Business Peter Bithos

ABS-CBN announced its newest subsidiary and media convergence arm, ABS-CBN Convergence, Inc., as well as its expansion into the telecommunications business through a network-sharing partnership with Globe Telecom.

“ABS-CBN has always been about delivering Filipino content to our audiences over the platforms that are most relevant to them,”  said Carlo Katigbak, ABS-CBN Convergence President and Managing Director. “In recent times, we have come to realize that mobile internet is going to become one of the most important platforms for delivering our content to our audiences.”

Katigbak remarked that iWanTv.com, ABS-CBN’s free video streaming website, is now one of the most viewed sites in the Philippines and that nearly half of the users who visit it are using mobile devices to access it.

“We have entered into a network sharing agreement with Globe Telecom,” Katigbak declared. “Under this agreement, ABS-CBN purchases network capacity on a wholesale basis from Globe, thereby allowing us to offer traditional voice and SMS services to our consumers. In addition, we are also going to offer wireless broadband services that allow us to transmit exciting new programs to any mobile device.”

ABS-CBN Mobile, as the two corporations have billed their new offering, will be made available to the public in the form of an ABS-CBN-branded, but Globe-powered SIM card with which users can access exclusive mobile web content.

According to ABS-CBN Chairman Eugenio Lopez III, the content that will be available on ABS-CBN Mobile will be three-pronged—television content (TV shows) that extend into the mobile space, digital content that will be exclusively available to ABS-CBN Mobile subscribers, and an aggregate of user-generated content. Katigbak added that exclusive content ranges from entertainment and news to celebrity interaction and other offerings.

Katigbak mentioned that ABS-CBN will also bundle the ABS-CBN Mobile SIM cards with devices ranging from smartphones, to tablets and mobile broadband dongles.

Globe Telecom President and CEO Ernest Cu commented, “Globe is very confident that through its 2G, 3G, and 4G network, we will be able to serve the many Kapamilyas that will be joining the ABS-CBN Mobile experience.”

Cu added, “We do believe that there is a segment out there that ABS-CBN Convergence and ABS-CBN Mobile will be able to address.”

Globe Telecom Senior Adviser for Consumer Business Peter Bithos remarked that the partnership is beneficial to Globe as much as it is to ABS-CBN since it enables Globe to extend its services to segments that they “cannot reach” themselves. “With a reach of 35 million [people] and a population of a hundred million, there are many segments left untapped by our current brand portfolio. We do not think it’s the right or appropriate thing to do for Globe or TM to offer all things to all people. We find a fantastic partner in ABS-CBN that has reach, content and a value proposition that appeals to segments that we do not,” commented Bithos.

Bithos also maintained that existing Globe users will not have access to the exclusive digital content offered by ABS-CBN Mobile unless they avail of the dedicated ABS-CBN SIM card. “I think it’s down to customer preference. If you are a deep, deep fan of the Kapamilya network and you really want ABS-CBN content, I think that there’s a unique value proposition that you can get from ABS-CBN Mobile. However, if your needs fall in different areas and you have different wants, Globe and TM will be there to serve you as well.”

The ABS-CBN Mobile service will be officially launched within 2013.

10 Pinoy student teams gear up for 2013 Shell Eco-Marathon Asia

    0

    web

Ten teams from the country’s top engineering schools rev up their engines in preparation for the upcoming Asian leg of the 2013 Shell Eco-Marathon (SEM), which will take place on July 4-7, 2013 at the Sepang International Circuit in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The Shell Eco-Marathon is a global initiative that gives student engineers the opportunity to design, build and test energy-efficient cars. Its goal is to showcase young talent and creativity in developing vehicles that efficiently make use of gasoline, diesel, bio-fuel, and other energy sources. Vehicles are classified into two categories: urban concept cars (those that mimic the design of everyday cars) and prototype (the “anything goes” category). The Philippines is one of the 18 participating countries in this year’s Asian leg, where a total of 1,500 student engineers are expected to showcase their innovations.

Schools that were part of the pioneering Philippine delegacy in the Shell Eco-Marathon, namely, Mapua Institute of Technology, University of Santo Tomas, and Don Bosco Technical College, remain in full force this year. Joining them are the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) Manila, De La Salle University (DLSU) Manila, the University of San Carlos in Cebu, and the Technological Institute of the Philippines (TIP) Manila and Quezon City.

Mapua, one of the first Philippine schools to join the Shell Eco-Marathon, sends off two teams this year—one for each of the two vehicle categories. DLSU, whose 2012 entry “Proto” bagged the Technical Innovation Award, also enters both categories.

During their test run at the Clark International Speedway last May 24, we were able to meet the various teams and learn about the technology behind their respective vehicles. Our forthcoming July issue features an exclusive sneak peek at what each team is cooking up for the big day, so don’t forget to watch out for it in the stands.

Additionally, Shell announced that their country chairman, Edgar Chua, recently signed an agreement with Department of Tourism (DoT) Secretary Ramon Jimenez to formalize their agreement to host the Asian leg of the Shell Eco-Marathon from 2014 to 2016 at Rizal Park.
