    Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) recognized the outstanding achievements of its dealer network at the annual Toyota Dealer Awards, held in conjunction with the 2025 Dealer Conference. The event honored top-performing dealerships, marketing professionals, and service advisers who demonstrated excellence in sales and customer service in 2024.

    Recognizing Excellence in Dealer Operations

    The highly coveted President’s Award of Excellence was presented to the following dealerships for their exceptional performance:

    • Large Business Division: Toyota Marilao, Bulacan, Inc. (TMR)
    • Medium Business Division: Toyota Nueva Ecija, Inc. (TNI)

    A day full of love and music at Adamson University

    Last February 13, 2025, the Senior High School Department celebrated its annual Valentine’s Day Celebration where it showcased various booths managed by the recognized student organizations of AdU-SHS and featured the performances of different bands that contained students who confidently displayed their talents in music. Despite all of this, nothing stood out but the love that lingered around the campus of Adamson University as romantic melodies resonated within the façade of the Saint Vincent de Paul Building.

    People run around as they chase after memories, or even some look around looking for the person to give their hearts out. All of this happened in a span of a day when the campus turned into a factory of love and happiness that left a remarkable reminiscence on all the students who were there. It was a day that highlighted the sparkle of youth and connection with other people. Truly, it was a day to remember – a fascinating celebration of Valentine’s Day at Adamson University.

    FalConfeTunes: A Search for Cupid’s Arrow

    Pusong Palkon 2025: Cupid’s Love on Replay featured a touching segment where love confessions and personal experiences took the attention of students. The confession and experience-sharing segment connected people through their mutual and relatable encounters. Guided by the love advisers, it did not only serve as a platform to vent out feelings, but it also became a space to realize how love situations often act as a barrier to feeling all kinds of emotions. Thanks to these two love advisers, some attendees realized their past mistakes and discovered ways to make amends.

    Battle of the Bands: Clash of HEARTmony

    Even as the sun lost its battle with the clouds, the Clash of HEARTmony did not back down the spattering rain– ensuring that students are kept entertained with their sweet and melodic voices, matching the vibe of Valentine’s day and the cold-pouring rain. The bands sang various OPM love songs, capturing the hearts of many while some couples started jamming in with the beat. In the end, it was a great battle for the bands and a memorable experience for students of all relationship statuses. They demonstrated that love songs are not just for those with a special someone because love songs can all be about you.

    The weather during the 14th of February may not be the best but the dedication of the organizations, volunteers, faculty, and organizers made the day bearable. Their efforts transformed a cold, breezy day into a celebration filled with warmth and smiles. Let the season of hearts colliding flourish beyond Valentine’s Day and touch lives eternally.

    Ford Philippines is gearing up for a transformative 2025, marking a major milestone in its journey toward electrification. The company is set to introduce a suite of electrified vehicles, leveraging Ford Motor Company’s global expertise to cater to the country’s growing demand for sustainable mobility.     NNIC expands NAIA’s Inter-Terminal shuttle fleet

    New NAIA Infra Corp. (NNIC) has deployed eight additional inter-terminal shuttle buses at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), bringing the total number of newly acquired shuttles to 12. This expansion improves passenger mobility as air travel demand continues to rise.

    Originally designed for 35 million passengers annually, NAIA handled 50.1 million travelers in 2024 — a 10.43% increase from 2023, surpassing pre-pandemic levels.

    “NAIA is operating well beyond its capacity, and while major infrastructure upgrades are in progress, expanding our shuttle fleet is an immediate step to improve accessibility and convenience for passengers,” said NNIC president Ramon S. Ang.

    The new buses offer round-the-clock, free transfers for passengers with connecting flights, reducing wait times and easing congestion. They complement broader improvements, including expanded terminal curbsides and an upgraded traffic system for smoother operation. 

    Earlier this year, NNIC also deployed two new ambulances for quick medical assistance, three “follow-me” vehicles to improve aircraft guidance and reduce taxi times, and four inter-terminal coasters to facilitate seamless passenger transfers, particularly for those with connecting flights or mobility challenges.

    Since taking over NAIA operations in September 2024, NNIC — a San Miguel Corporation-led consortium — has introduced key enhancements to modernize the airport and support the country’s tourism and economic growth.

    The Mazda MX-5 35th Anniversary Edition made its Asia debut outside Japan in the Philippines at the Sports Cars for a Cause (SCFC) charity event in Bonifacio Global City. First shown at the Mazda Fan Festa last November in Fuji Speedway, this MX-5 35thAnniversary Edition is produced to celebrate the roadster’s 35th anniversary since its introduction in 1989 at the Chicago Auto Show.

Attendees there saw the Mazda MX-5 35th Anniversary Edition taking center stage for the first time in the Philippines.

    Limited to just 15 units in the country and priced at PHP2,490,000, the Mazda MX-5 35th Anniversary Edition itself commemorates more than three decades of pure driving exhilaration that only a lightweight sports car can provide.

    Xiaomi’s Redmi series has a good track record of offering high-end smartphones at budget-friendly prices. Its latest addition to the family, the Redmi Note 14 Pro+ 5G, is positioned to set a new benchmark in the mid-range category with its better specs and best-in-class features. From its 200MP ultra-clear camera to its 6.67-inch CrystalRes AMOLED display, this phone promises an immersive experience that’s on par with even some flagships.

    The Redmi Note 14 Pro+ 5G has a slim, trendy design with a thin, premium finish that feels great. It is available in bold color choices, such as Midnight Black, Lavender Purple, and Frost Blue, giving users fashionable options to suit their preferences. The device measures 162.53mm in height, 74.67mm in width, and 8.75mm (Glass) / 8.85mm (PU) in thickness. Weighing 210.14g (Glass) / 205.13g (PU), it has a sturdy yet ergonomic construction. 

    From the moment I held the device, I appreciated how well-balanced it felt despite its larger screen size. The subtly curved edges assist with easy grip, and the glass back with a premium feel gives it a sense of sophistication. The Midnight Black is sleek and elegant in a traditional style, but Frost Blue and Lavender Purple offer a clean, contemporary design. Although it is not the thinnest phone on the market, the balance of comfort and durability makes it a joy to use daily. 

    The instant it is turned on, the 6.67-inch 1.5K CrystalRes AMOLED display is impressive at once. TÜV Rheinland Low Blue Light certification guarantees that hours of use won’t tire the eyes, and it’s ideal for binge-watching, gaming, or business use. Colors pop, blacks are rich, and details are edge-of-sharp, presenting an immersive experience. When you scroll through social media or watch high-definition videos, the screen really takes every experience with the phone to a whole new level.

    Beneath the hood, the Redmi Note 14 Pro+ 5G comes with the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3, an Octa-core processor clocked at a maximum of 2.5GHz. Our review unit came with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage. The device offers seamless and lag-free performance, as well as multitasking and productivity operations without any hassles. 

    Battery life is also impressive with its 5110mAh battery. Better yet, the 120W HyperCharge technology allows me to quickly go from zero to a full charge, reducing downtime and keeping me connected all day.

    The most significant selling point of the Redmi Note 14 Pro+ 5G is its 200MP primary camera with OIS. In well-lit conditions, the level of detail captured is staggering, with even zoomed shots remaining clear. The Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) helps to keep low-light photos crisp and blur-free. AI Image Editing makes photos look better after taking them, and it’s easy to correct lighting, erase unwanted objects, and fine-tune every shot.

    Recording videos on this phone is a delight. With OIS and AI optimization, videos come out smooth and crisp. Whether recording in 4K or slow-motion, the Redmi Note 14 Pro+ 5G has the best quality, making it an excellent option for content creators and everyday users.

    User Experience: 4/5

    As a mid-ranger, the Redmi Note 14 Pro+ 5G offers fantastic value without holding back on performance or design. Every feature feels thoughtfully implemented, from the display to the camera, ensuring a flagship-like experience at a fraction of the cost.

    PLDT-Smart and partners help Davao’s cacao farmers go digital

    Davao’s cacao industry is getting a digital boost, thanks to PLDT and Smart’s partnership with the Department of Agriculture-Agriculture Training Institute (DA-ATI) and Mennonite Economic Development Associates (MEDA). A year into the collaboration, more cacao farmers in Mindanao are learning how to use mobile technology to improve their farms and livelihoods.

    Since 2019, PLDT, Smart, and DA-ATI’s Digital Farmers Program has been helping farmers become more comfortable with digital tools—everything from mobile apps for crop monitoring to online marketplaces that connect them with more buyers. This initiative is especially important in Davao, which produces 80% of the country’s cacao.

    “We’re committed to making sure Davao’s cacao farmers can succeed in an era where everything’s online,” said Stephanie V.     iProov study shows most consumers can’t identify AI-generated fakes: Take the Deepfake Detection Test

    New research from iProov, the world’s leading provider of science-based biometric identity verification solutions, reveals that most people struggle to detect deepfakes—highly realistic AI-generated videos and images designed to impersonate real people. The study, which tested 2,000 UK and US consumers, found that only 0.1% of participants could accurately distinguish real content from deepfakes.

    Key Findings

    Deepfake detection is alarmingly low – Only 0.1% of respondents correctly identified all deepfake and real stimuli (images and videos) even when primed to look for them. In real-world scenarios, where awareness is lower, the vulnerability is likely even greater.

    Older generations are more vulnerable – About 30% of 55-64 year-olds and 39% of those aged 65+ had never heard of deepfakes, highlighting a significant knowledge gap that increases susceptibility to deception.

    Deepfake videos are harder to detect than images – Participants were 36% less likely to correctly identify a synthetic video compared to a synthetic image, raising concerns about fraud risks in video calls and identity verification.

    Deepfakes are widely misunderstood – While awareness is rising, 22% of consumers had never heard of deepfakes before participating in the study.

    False confidence is rampant – Despite poor detection skills, over 60% of participants believed they were good at spotting deepfakes. This overconfidence was particularly pronounced among young adults (18-34 years old).

    Social media trust erodes – Platforms like Meta (49%) and TikTok (47%) are seen as the primary sources of deepfake content, leading 49% of consumers to trust social media less after learning about deepfakes. However, only one in five would report a suspected deepfake.

    Deepfakes fuel societal concerns – 74% of respondents worry about the impact of deepfakes, with 68% citing fake news and misinformation as their primary concerns. Among older adults, concern rises to 82%.

    Lack of reporting mechanisms – 48% of consumers don’t know how to report deepfakes, and 29% take no action at all when encountering one.

    Consumers fail to verify online information – Despite the rising threat, only 11% critically analyze sources, while only one in four actively search for alternative sources when they suspect a deepfake.

    Expert Insights and Industry Impact

    Professor Edgar Whitley, a digital identity expert at the London School of Economics and Political Science, highlights the growing challenge: Security experts have long warned of the threats posed by deepfakes. This study confirms that organizations can no longer rely on human judgment alone and must adopt advanced authentication solutions to combat deepfake risks.”

    iProov CEO Andrew Bud reinforces the urgency: “With just 0.1% of people able to accurately identify deepfakes, both consumers and organizations remain highly vulnerable to fraud. Criminals are exploiting this blind spot, putting personal and financial security at risk. Technology companies must take responsibility by implementing robust biometric security measures, such as facial authentication with liveness detection, to protect against these evolving threats.”

    The Growing Threat of Deepfakes

    Deepfake technology is advancing rapidly. iProov’s 2024 Threat Intelligence Report revealed a 704% increase in face swaps, a technique commonly used in deepfakes, over the past year. These AI-generated forgeries allow cybercriminals to impersonate individuals, gain unauthorized access to sensitive data, and create fraudulent identities for illicit activities such as loan applications and financial scams. The ability to distinguish truth from fabricated content is becoming increasingly difficult, with major implications for security, trust, and misinformation.

    What Can Be Done?

    As deepfakes become more sophisticated, human detection alone is no longer reliable. Organizations must adopt advanced biometric technology with liveness detection—verifying that an individual is:
