Launched in 2022, the GAxD campaign aims to raise awareness of Filipino-developed technologies and highlight the creative potential of individuals. What makes the fourth edition of the GAxD campaign different from the previous GAxD campaigns is its emphasis on science visual storytelling through creative advertising.

This year, Gawad Alunig invites participants to transform underrated narratives into compelling short-form videos. Video entries must be three and a half minutes or less. This category honors compelling videos that leave an alunig or a resonating sound that inspires communities to support Filipino innovations and technologies.

ASUS announces Prime AP303 compact mid-tower ATX case

ASUS has announced the Prime AP303, a 44-liter mid-tower ATX case that gives users the space needed for high-end components, with multiple side panel and color options. The case’s user-friendly features and cooling optimizations provide a compact frame with massive potential.

    Compact size with max capacity

The ASUS Prime AP303 uses every square inch smartly, providing room for ATX PSUs up to 180mm long and graphics cards up to 360mm long. The case’s graphics card bracket is built to support the heft of GeForce RTX 50 Series graphics cards measuring between 310mm to 360mm long — up to and including heavyweight cards like the ROG Astral GeForce RTX 5090. This ensures long-term hardware stability — even for graphics cards with large heatsinks for premium thermal performance. In addition, the Prime AP303 ensures stable power via a UL-certified internal power cable, which delivers 15 amps of current to the front-mounted power supply. For easy cable management, the AP303 also offers a 34mm-wide compartment behind the motherboard.

    Prime 303

    Capable, compact cooling

Beyond the room the AP303 reserves for PSUs and large graphics cards, it can also fit a radiator up to 360mm long and up to 60mm thick — which makes connecting CPU power cables to the top edge of the motherboard a breeze. Factor in the seven mounting points for fans, and this case is primed to keep high-performance hardware at its coolest.

The AP303 also uses a quasi-filter metallic mesh throughout its design. This square mesh offers heightened airflow intake, giving internal components plenty of access to fresh air. All versions of the AP303 feature mesh elements, so no matter which chassis configuration users opt for, their rig will benefit from capable cooling.

Tool-free side panels, classic color options

Users can choose between tempered glass or quasi-filtered metallic mesh for the side panels. Tempered glass provides a clean look at a rig’s internal components — perfect for RGB enthusiasts who love to glow up their desktops with radiant hardware. Those who opt for the metallic mesh side panel can maintain a low profile while maximizing airflow. Both side-panel types feature tool-free designs, meaning users can easily remove and attach the panels.

The AP303 is available in black or white, and the interior cables are color-matched for a cohesive aesthetic. Whether users want a stealthy black rig that blends in with their other electronics, or a centerpiece for their Moonlight White battlestation, the AP303 is ready to suit.

    Connectivity users need

The AP303 features a USB 20Gbps Type-C port on the front panel — a location that keeps it readily accessible as the chassis rests on top of a desk. Users can pair this chassis with a motherboard equipped with a USB 20Gbps connector to reap the benefits of speedy data transfers. The AP303 also features two front-panel USB Type-A ports, as well as headphone and microphone jacks. With all these connectivity options at the front of a rig, swapping out gear is an effortless experience.

    Availability & Pricing

ASUS Prime AP303 are now available in the Philippines with the following SRPs:

    • AP 303 Asus Prime Case TG (White / Black) – PHP6,190
    • AP 303 Asus Prime Case Mesh (White / Black) – PHP6,090

TIEZA unveils enhanced online travel tax services

The Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA) expresses its appreciation to the millions of Filipino outbound travelers whose travel tax contributions continue to drive infrastructure development, community upliftment, and sustainable growth across the country’s tourism destinations.

In a media briefing held on November 18, TIEZA chief operating officer Mark T. Lapid underscored the vital role of travel tax revenues in advancing the nation’s tourism and economic agenda.

“Each time a Filipino traveler pays the travel tax, they directly contribute to nation-building,” said Lapid. “These contributions fund the development of access roads, ports, water systems, and facilities that make destinations more connected, resilient, and sustainable for the benefit of both visitors and local communities.”

“When we say ‘Building Tourism Together,’ we mean a shared responsibility between government, private partners, and the Filipino traveler,” Lapid added. “Every flight, every trip, and every travel tax payment helps us build a stronger, more inclusive, and globally competitive tourism economy.”

Enhanced Travel Tax Services for Greater Efficiency and Convenience

In line with the government’s Ease of Doing Business (EODB) initiatives, TIEZA continues to modernize the Online Travel Tax Services System (OTTSS) to provide travelers with faster, simpler, and more transparent services.

Aside from online travel tax payments, the enhanced OTTSS now supports online applications for Travel Tax Exemption Certificate and Reduced Travel Tax, streamlining processes for at least 800,000 outbound travelers each year who qualify for these privileges, including Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), infants and minors, government delegates, and other eligible groups.

This platform benefits over 4.6 million outbound travelers annually, enabling them to settle their travel tax obligations and file applications anytime, anywhere, without the need to queue at airport counters.

“Our priority is to make travel tax transactions as effortless as possible,” Lapid noted. “By embracing innovation and digital transformation, we are not only modernizing government systems  — we are enhancing the overall travel experience. Every minute saved online translates to more meaningful time spent with family, work, and new opportunities abroad.”

Earlier this year, TIEZA also partnered with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) to integrate the OTTSS Full Travel Tax payment service with the eGov Super App and eTravel Systems. This integration allows travelers to access key components of their pre-travel requirements under a unified digital ecosystem. Travelers can now pay their full travel tax directly through the eGov PH Super App, with personal information automatically retrieved from their eTravel profiles, resulting in a faster, more secure, and seamless payment experience.

Building Tourism Together Through Travel Tax

Pursuant to the Section 73 of Republic Act No. 9593, fifty percent (50%) of travel tax proceeds go to TIEZA, funding its operations and the development of tourism infrastructure projects across the country, ranging from access roads and water systems to community-based facilities that enhance visitor experience and empower local livelihoods.

The remaining 40% is allocated to the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) for tourism-related scholarships and education programs, while 10% supports the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) in advancing cultural heritage conservation and arts development.

“Each peso you contribute travels farther than you think,” Lapid emphasized. “It becomes a road that connects communities, clean water that sustains destinations, or a scholarship that nurtures the next generation of tourism professionals. Every contribution builds a tourism industry that every Filipino can take pride in.”

Through continuous innovation, collaboration, and transparency, TIEZA reaffirms its commitment to its advocacy of Building Tourism Together  — a shared national effort that celebrates the contributions of travelers, communities, and partners in strengthening Philippine tourism.

“Government service should be as seamless and dependable as booking your next flight,” Lapid concluded. “Through your continued support, we can keep building a tourism industry that connects, empowers, and inspires  — one journey at a time.”

Unruled Outdoors: Yamaha PG-1 riders go off-grid

Yamaha Motor Philippines turned a simple weekend into a raw, back-to-basics adventure as PG-1 owners gathered in Tanay, Rizal for Unruled Outdoors, a moto-exploration event that celebrated freedom, skill, and the growing community of riders who thrive beyond the pavement.

The initiative builds on Yamaha’s earlier push to create a dedicated space for PG-1 riders to connect and share their favorite trails. From this came PG-1 Pinas, which quickly grew to 50 members and is now the newest official Yamaha Club group. Unruled Outdoors takes that spirit even further by inviting riders to leave familiar roads behind and explore what the PG-1 can truly do when the map runs out.

Camp Life, Built from the Ground Up

The moment participants arrived at the basecamp on November 15-16, 2025, they were thrust into Ground Zero—a set of challenges designed to test teamwork, improvisation, and outdoor instincts.

Riders were grouped into teams and sent straight into the Camp Exploration segment, where the Basecamp Build-Off required them to create a unique campsite from scratch. Tents, layout, workflow—every decision had to be made through quick thinking and collaboration. The Cook-Off tested adaptability even more, demanding resourcefulness and coordination amid the controlled chaos of outdoor meal prep.

These challenges weren’t just for fun. They reinforced what outdoor riding is all about: knowing how to respond when circumstances change, making do with what you have, and discovering skills you didn’t realize you possessed.

    Off-Road, On Point

Once the camp challenges wrapped up, the focus shifted to the dirt. The Moto-Exploration segment invited riders to push the PG-1’s off-road capability under the guidance of the Yamaha Riding Academy.

Three stations highlighted different aspects of off-road control:

    • Time Trial sharpened precision and speed.
    • Burnout tested throttle discipline and ground feel.
    • Terrain Elevation pushed confidence on uneven slopes and shifting surfaces.

Each station offered hands-on learning, allowing riders to understand how the PG-1 behaves in the wild—its stability, responsiveness, and the kind of terrain it was engineered to conquer. For many participants, it was a rare chance to explore off-grid riding in a structured, supportive environment.

    A Community Forged by Freedom

As daylight faded and the group gathered around the campfire, Yamaha awarded teams for their creativity, grit, and performance. But more than the prizes, it was the shared stories, the laughter, the exhaustion, and the sense of accomplishment that defined the event.

Unruled Outdoors wasn’t designed to be a competition. It was built to strengthen bonds among riders, deepen their skills, and amplify the spirit of exploration that makes the PG-1 stand out. It’s a motorcycle built for those who crave the unknown—those who find freedom in unplanned routes, unmarked trails, and moments when the only guide is instinct.

With the PG-1, riders are encouraged to leave expectations behind and embrace the liberating thrill of discovering what lies beyond the pavement.

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has taken another significant step in advancing the digital transformation of Filipino Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) through a new partnership with Converge ICT Solutions Inc.’s SME Solutions unit.

As part of DTI’s broader push to equip MSMEs for the digital economy, the partnership with Converge will support the Department’s programs by expanding MSMEs’ access to reliable connectivity, digital onboarding assistance, and capacity-building initiatives. Assistant Secretary Nylah Rizza Bautista, supervising head of the DTI-Competitiveness and Innovation Group, highlighted the importance of strengthening MSME access to digital tools: “Our goal is to push for MSMEs to embrace technology and digitalization, and we believe that this partnership with Converge strengthens our push. Through this initiative, we can give our entrepreneurs not just access to tools but a fair chance to compete and succeed in the global market.

She further emphasized the role of digital transformation in sustaining MSME competitiveness: “The DTI believes that digitalization of our MSMEs is no longer optional but absolutely essential in today’s highly digital business environment.”

Under the MOU, Converge will complement DTI programs by offering connectivity packages and digital solutions for MSMEs participating in DTI-led digitalization and innovation initiatives, including those focused on helping startups and traditional enterprises adopt digital tools, AI-supported platforms, and other emerging technologies.

Converge senior vice president for SME Group Dindo Marzan expressed the company’s support for DTI’s efforts: “Every business relies not only on effective and efficient connectivity but also easy-to-use and practical digital solutions. We are honored to support the DTI in ensuring that MSMEs—wherever they are—gain access to the technology and assistance they need to grow sustainably.”

eufy launches world’s first heated wearable pump—quiet, hands-free, and built for modern moms

eufy, a smart home brand launched by Anker Innovations, has expanded its thoughtful design philosophy into products that support the needs of today’s parents. The latest addition to its growing lineup of mom-focused solutions is the eufy Wearable Breast Pump E20, made for today’s multitasking modern mom.

Being a mom in a modern, fast-paced world has taken an entirely new look. Today, moms are project managers, career women, and business partners. But they’re also nurturers at home, juggling endless to-do lists. With so many things running through the mind of the modern mom each day, the last thing she should have to worry about is the stress of pumping.

Breastfeeding is already a major commitment, and it can be taxing emotionally and physically. While traditional breast pumps have helped moms in the past, the wires, the noise, and the need to sit still in one place for long stretches often make it a struggle to find the time or energy to keep up with so many other things still left to do.

A Smarter, Freer Way to Pump

For many moms, the biggest challenge of traditional breast pumping is comfort. They either feel stuck, have to sit still, or deal with soreness after longer sessions.

The eufy Wearable Breast Pump E20 features a fully wireless, hands-free design, giving mothers the freedom and convenience to move around as they pump. Whether they’re fixing documents at home, answering emails, or spending a few quiet minutes reading a book, the E20 lets them do it all without the hassle of staying glued to one spot.

Its ergonomic design also secures a secure and gentle fit to reduce any feelings of soreness afterwards, and its leakproof build adds to peace of mind. It’s simple improvements to the experience that relieves them of many worries.

    eufy
The eufy Heated Wearable Breast Pump E20 comes with three (3) adjustable heat levels through its HeatFlow™ technology

At the core of its design is HeatFlow technology, which uses gentle warmth to help stimulate milk flow and reduce any discomfort, mimicking a baby’s natural feeding rhythm. The E20 comes with pre-set pumping rhythms and adjustable suction levels, so moms can personalize how they use the pump to the setting that gives them the most ease.

    Designed for Quiet Moments

Peace and privacy are luxuries for any mom – especially after a long busy day. In case she still needs to pump during the late-night or while the rest of the family sleeps, the E20 features an ultra-quiet motor for near-silent operation that allows moms to pump without any noise breaking the peace.

Calmness also comes from feeling in control. Moms can pair the E20 with the eufy app giving them full control right from their phone. They can adjust control settings, monitor suction strength, and track sessions in real time.

Even with its compact size, the E20 keeps up with even the busiest routines, offering up to six sessions per full charge. When it’s time to clean up, every part that comes in contact with milk is easy to wash, and it’s BPA-free and safe!

    Helping Moms Reclaim Their Time

Motherhood is a nonstop job, but with tools like the eufy Wearable Breast Pump E20, moms can reclaim moments they might have lost to pumping. WIth this latest innovation, eufy continues its mission to bring smart simplicity to modern living, and now, to one of the most meaningful aspects of it – motherhood. The Wearable Breast Pump E20 is not just about making pumping easier for moms, but it’s about giving back their time, freedom, and confidence.

The eufy Wearable Breast Pump E20 is now available through the official eufy website and on the official eufy stores on Lazada and Shopee for PHP9,995.

Jobstreet by SEEK uncovers employment fraud trends in APAC

In recognition of International Fraud Awareness Week, SEEK, the parent company of Jobstreet and Jobsdb, released new insights into employment fraud trends across the Asia-Pacific region, revealing how scammers adapt their tactics to exploit local job market conditions and economic needs.

The Philippines is revealed to be the second-largest target, representing 20% of APAC employment fraud attempts, following Indonesia as the dominant fraud hotspot, accounting for 38% of all APAC fraud attempts and 62% of Asian market fraud.

SEEK’s employment fraud detection systems identified distinct regional patterns between July 2024 and June 2025, with fraudsters showing sophisticated targeting strategies that vary between Australia, New Zealand (ANZ), and the six Asian markets SEEK operates in (Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand). The analysis is based on SEEK’s internal fraud-detection data across its APAC platforms, including Jobstreet and Jobsdb.

According to SEEK, Administration and Office Support roles remain the primary target across the region, with 29% of fraudulent job ads in Asia. Additionally, Manufacturing, Transport and Logistics roles recorded 16% of fraud attempts, likely aiming to exploit workers seeking immediate employment opportunities. Sales roles across APAC also feature prominently among employment fraud targets.

Meanwhile, in the Philippines, industries most frequently targeted by scammers include Accounting, Sales, Healthcare and Medical, Administration and Office Support, Manufacturing, Transportation, and Logistics.

“Administration and office support roles are particularly vulnerable because they typically don’t require specialised degrees or extensive experience,” explained Tom Rhind, SEEK’s Head of Trust & Safety. “Sales positions show similar patterns, as these roles often promise immediate employment and commission-based earnings that appeal to job seekers in urgent need of income. Combined, these entry-level categories create larger pools of potential victims and make it easier for scammers to cast wide nets with convincing-looking opportunities.”

SEEK’s fair hiring controls in action

As the Philippines’ leading employment marketplace, Jobstreet by SEEK implements controls to prevent exploitative recruitment and modern slavery to safeguard job seekers. SEEK’s Trust & Safety team operates detailed checks to ensure hirers are legitimate, while automated and manual content moderation screens job advertisements. Candidates are also empowered with reporting tools to flag suspicious postings.

These protection measures include scanning all 4.3 million APAC job ads, with 8% escalated for manual review. This resulted in preventing about 3,600 hirers who failed the onboarding process assessment from entering SEEK’s platforms, closing 650 hirer accounts for fraud or high-risk behavior, and removing nearly 2,800 risky ads. Candidates reported roughly 22,000 suspicious ads, all of which were reviewed by SEEK’s Trust & Safety team.

    Combating evolving fraud tactics

Recently, scammers have increasingly been using artificial intelligence to create more sophisticated scams, while also impersonating SEEK and Jobstreet to contact candidates through SMS, messaging apps, and social media platforms. In the Philippines, one of the most common platforms that scammers use is Viber.

To combat these evolving threats, Jobstreet by SEEK continuously enhances its employment fraud detection with automated blocking, improved verification, and collaboration with government and industry partners. Through its Security & Privacy Hub, the platform is also educating candidates on scams, unfair hiring practices, safe job searching, and online protection tips.

“Jobstreet by SEEK is committed to creating a safe and trusted employment marketplace. That is why we encourage all hirers and job seekers to use legitimate job platforms to ensure that every connection leads to real opportunities,” said Dannah Majaracon, Jobstreet by SEEK managing director in the Philippines.

Digital 2026: PH strengthens position among world’s most connected and empowered digital economies

Meltwater, a global leader in media, social, and consumer intelligence, together with We Are Social, recently released the Digital 2026: Philippines Report, featuring local digital trends.

According to the data, the Philippines continues to strengthen its position as one of the world’s most digitally active and socially connected nations. The country is home to 98 million internet users and 95.8 million social media identities, marking a 10.3% increase year on year.

With 98.6% of the population owning a smartphone, digital access has become nearly universal, allowing Filipinos to integrate online connectivity into every aspect of their lives. The way they communicate, discover, and purchase continues to evolve as new habits form around social engagement, content creation, and mobile-first experiences. The report highlights that this level of connectivity is not only reshaping how people stay in touch with friends and family, but also how they are consuming information, entertainment, and commerce.

Globally, digital adoption has reached more than six billion people,  while over 1 billion now use AI tools monthly. In the Philippines, this digital fluency is reflected in how audiences navigate social platforms, consume entertainment, and engage with emerging technologies in their daily lives. Filipinos spend more than 20 hours per week watching videos online – double the time spent on traditional broadcast and cable television – reflecting a strong appetite for on-demand entertainment and social connection.

Streaming services, including Netflix, Disney+, and Prime Video, continue to gain popularity. At the same time, local creators and influencer vlogs remain at the heart of Filipino digital culture, underscoring how entertainment and connection converge online.

The most consumed online formats include music videos (76.3%), comedic or viral content (58.1%) and influencer vlogs (47.8%). This appetite for humour, storytelling, and creativity reinforces the Philippines’ reputation as a social nation that values connection through relatable and entertaining content. For brands, behaviors like this underscore the need to tap into cultural relevance and authenticity as traits that inspire audiences to engage, share and advocate.

The report also reveals how digital finance is enabling broader participation in the country’s online economy. More than half of Filipinos (56.3%) make at least one purchase each week, with spending across electronics, food, and fashion reaching PHP 487.5 billion (US$8.24 billion) in 2025. Digital wallets such as GCash and Maya dominate payment preferences, accounting for 39% of all online transactions, while credit and debit cards represent another 27%. For a population where nearly half still do not have formal bank accounts, the adoption of e-wallets has played a vital role in driving financial inclusion.

Filipinos are also expanding their use of digital platforms beyond shopping, with 88.5% engaging in online banking, investments, or insurance every month. This reflects not just convenience but growing confidence in managing multiple aspects of daily life online. For retailers, especially those reliant on physical stores, this shift highlights the importance of an omnichannel strategy – one that builds trust and bridges online discovery with in-store experience.

Mimrah Mahmood, APAC vice president of Meltwater, said that “Filipinos have long been recognized as one of the most digitally active nations, and our 2026 data reaffirms that. What stands out this year is how digital behaviour has matured, moving beyond streaming and social engagement, into e-commerce and digital finance. The Philippines is no longer just connected but is empowered by the tools people use every day.”

As digital inclusion deepens, the Philippines continues to evolve from a connected population into an empowered digital economy. From entertainment to commerce and finance, Filipinos are using technology to build opportunity, creativity, and inclusion. The country’s digital journey demonstrates that the next phase of progress lies not only in being online but in using connectivity to strengthen relationships, drive innovation, and support growth across communities.
