Xiaomi YU7 launches as a high-performance luxury SUV packed with innovation

Xiaomi has officially unveiled the YU7, its first SUV and second vehicle in its electric vehicle lineup, following the SU7 sedan. Derived from the phrase “御风而行” meaning “riding the wind,” the YU7 is designed for modern elites who demand power, elegance, and cutting-edge technology in a commanding SUV package.

    Distinctive Design and Proportions

Built from the ground up, the Xiaomi YU7 measures 4,999mm long with a generous 3,000mm wheelbase. It carries a bold design with a low, sporty stance and signature proportions—3:1 wheel-to-body and 1.25:1 width-to-height ratios—that signal luxury and performance.

    YU7

The sculpted clamshell aluminum hood, the largest in mass production, conceals a 141-liter front trunk. Xiaomi’s redesigned waterdrop headlights now feature hollowed elements with integrated air channels, while the rear halo taillights use ultra-red lighting for dramatic effect. New electric-flush door handles extend automatically when the key is near, enhancing both aerodynamics and convenience.

The SUV boasts a class-leading drag coefficient of 0.245Cd, made possible by a host of airflow optimizations, including an active grille with 100 adjustable louvers and a hollowed rear spoiler.

    Color and Finish with Character

Xiaomi introduces three striking colors for the YU7:

    • Emerald Green – Inspired by Colombian emeralds, this high-saturation color uses a dual-layer paint system with metallic flakes and pearl topcoat for a gem-like finish.
    • Titanium Silver – A modern metallic with enhanced light play for a refined, performance-inspired look.
    • Lava Orange – A vibrant carry-over from the SU7, transforming under light for a dynamic appearance.

A Cabin That Redefines Comfort and Tech

Inside, the Xiaomi YU7 offers a Dual-Zone Surround Luxury Cabin with generous space, premium materials, and advanced interfaces. It integrates Xiaomi’s new HyperVision Panoramic Display, projecting driving and media information across the windshield via three Mini LED panels, creating a cockpit-like experience for both driver and passenger. This 1.1-meter display offers retina-grade resolution, glare reduction, and customizable content zones.

Rear passengers aren’t left out either—dual zero-gravity front seats feature massage functions, while rear power-reclining seats offer up to 135° of lounge-like comfort. Surfaces are clad in OEKO-TEX Class 1-certified Nappa leather and plush soft-touch materials.

Thanks to Xiaomi’s advanced CTB battery integration, cabin space is maximized. Rear passengers enjoy 77mm headroom and 73mm legroom, while total cargo capacity reaches 1,970 liters.

    Peak Performance Meets Driving Comfort

At its core, the YU7 delivers 690PS, accelerating from 0–100 km/h in just 3.23 seconds with a top speed of 253kph, powered by the evolved Xiaomi HyperEngine V6s Plus. This system uses segmented magnetic steel for greater efficiency and higher torque (528Nm) and horsepower.

Supporting this is a premium chassis featuring double wishbone front and five-link rear suspension, air springs with five height levels, and Brembo brakes. A turning radius of 5.7 meters means surprising agility for a vehicle of this size. The adjustable damping system adapts instantly to road conditions, balancing comfort and sportiness.

    Class-Leading Range and Charging

The YU7 comes in Standard, Pro, and Max variants, all featuring an 800V silicon carbide platform. Even the base model delivers a remarkable 835km CLTC range using a 96.3kWh battery—making it the longest-range electric SUV in its class.

Charging is equally impressive: a 10% to 80% top-up takes just 12 minutes, and you can gain 620km of range in 15 minutes using a fast charger.

Built-In Safety from the Ground Up

Xiaomi reengineered safety with the YU7, utilizing a steel-aluminum hybrid body that features the new 2200MPa ultra-high-strength steel co-developed with industry partners. This material is 40% stronger than conventional hot-formed steel and is used in door beams, A- and B-pillars, and underbody crossbeams.

Crash protection includes a longer crumple zone up front and high structural integrity at the rear, while a bulletproof coating shields the underbody and battery from damage. The car has passed over 50 crash test scenarios, exceeding both Chinese and international standards.

Smarter by Design: Hyper-Integrated Digital Architecture

At the heart of the YU7’s intelligence is Xiaomi’s Four-in-One Domain Control Module, combining the driving, cockpit, central control, and telematics systems into one compact unit. This reduces the number of components by 75%, improves efficiency, and boosts range by up to 16 km.

The car’s digital experience is powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip and NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Thor, offering 700 TOPS of computing power. Features such as dual 5G, Wi-Fi 7, and a UWB key make the YU7 a connected powerhouse, ready for smart homes and IoT integration.

    Full-Suite Driver Assistance and Training

Every YU7 comes standard with LiDAR, 4D millimeter-wave radar, 11 cameras, and 12 ultrasonic sensors. This suite enables high-resolution object detection—even in poor visibility—and supports advanced driver assistance features.

To complement this, Xiaomi offers Advanced Driving Training to help owners safely explore the vehicle’s capabilities, including modules for slalom, emergency braking, and handling on wet surfaces.

    The Verdict

With the YU7, Xiaomi brings together the luxury of space, the thrill of performance, and the depth of smart innovation into a single, beautifully crafted package. Whether you’re drawn to its striking design, long-range capability, or smart cockpit, the Xiaomi YU7 marks a bold new chapter in electric mobility.

The YU7 is officially set to go on sale in July 2025, with additional details on variants and pricing to follow.

ASUS Republic of Gamers demonstrates commitment to esports excellence with latest offerings at Computex 2025

ASUS Republic of Gamers reaffirmed its long-standing commitment to esports with a slew of new product announcements at Computex 2025, including the ROG Falcata 75% gaming keyboard, esports-oriented ROG Harpe II Ace gaming mouse and Strix Ace XG248 gaming monitor, the ROG Courser and Destrier Core gaming chairs, as well as the ROG Sheath II XXL mouse pad.

ROG Ace offerings are developed alongside esports pros and boast cutting-edge features to deliver the precision, speed, and reliability to help gamers of all levels reach their full potential. VALORANT Champions winner Max Demon1 Mazanov had a hand in shaping the Harpe II Ace, resulting in a shell that’s optimized for claw and fingertip grip users.

“At ROG, we believe greatness in esports starts with gear that’s built to perform under pressure,” said Kris Huang, General Manager of the ASUS Gaming & Workspace Gear business unit. “Our mission is simple: to equip the next generation of champions with the tools they need to reach the top.”

ROG also announced a new brand partnership with legendary CS2 player Mathieu ZywOo Herbaut, who will help test and develop new keyboard products to give gamers an upper hand in gameplay. Additionally, ROG cultivates partnerships with multiple esports teams, including long-standing relationships with NRG Sports and Team Vitality, with ROG equipping the latter’s Counter-Strike and VALORANT teams.

    ROG Falcata gaming keyboard

The Falcata is a 75% split gaming keyboard designed for precision and flexibility. This versatile gaming keyboard adapts to different gaming setups, allowing users to use the left keyboard module to free up desktop space for their mousing hand. The Falcata provides more room for mouse movement—more room than even a 60% keyboard.

The hot-swappable ROG HFX V2 Magnetic Switch used across the keyboard provides gamers with refined keystrokes that can be customized for 0.1–3.5mm actuation and fine-tuned at 0.01mm intervals. This pre-lubed magnetic switch is engineered for a solid feel with lightning-fast performance and a 100-million-keypress lifespan. The switch has a polycarbonate top housing, while the stem and bottom housing are made of POM plastic. Plus, the walled stem design enhances stability and keeps out dust. A unique snap-fit mechanism prevents key wobble from affecting magnet movement, ensuring precise and accurate actuation with every keystroke.

The exceptionally precise ROG Hall Sensor offers accurate input detection, reduces electrical noise and interference, and increases magnetic flux tolerance for superior performance.

The multifunction wheel and button let users tweak a variety of settings including actuation point, sensitivity of the Rapid Trigger feature, volume, media playback, keyboard lighting, and more. The Rapid Trigger toggle along the top edge of the Falcata allows users to easily switch to the fastest typing response and key repeat rates.

The Falcata offers an ultra-responsive 8000Hz polling rate and features ROG SpeedNova 8K wireless technology for up to 610 hours of battery life. Meanwhile, tri-mode connectivity enables users to connect the Falcata to three devices simultaneously via Bluetooth®, 2.4GHz wireless, or wired USB.

Integrated four-layer dampening absorbs pinging noises and offers a more cushioned typing feel to enhance typing experiences. In addition, a pair of detachable silicone wrist rests perfectly complement the keyboard’s unique tilt angles for unmatched comfort.

ROG Harpe II Ace gaming mouse

Designed for esports, products in the ROG Ace collection are developed alongside professional gamers and deliver the speed, precision, and reliability that the best in the game can put their full trust in. Every product that carries the Ace moniker is a testament to ROG’s commitment to developing industry-leading gear to help players fulfil their potential.

Engineered for pro-grade performance, the Harpe II Ace is perfectly balanced to enable effortless flicks, swift swipes, and absolute precision for competitive play. An innovative bio-based nylon construction re-duces weight and enhances impact resistance, while built-in ROG SpeedNova 8K wireless technology delivers exceptional precision and reliability, along with an amazing up to 8000Hz polling rate. The Harpe II Ace is armed with the 42,000-dpi ROG AimPoint Pro optical sensor with track-on-glass technology for exceptional control. Plus, the ROG-exclusive optical micro switches used in the Harpe II Ace have an astounding 100-million click lifespan and deliver clear-cut signals with instant actuation.

Developed with input from VALORANT star Demon1 and other esports pros, the ROG Harpe II Ace is shaped and has been tested to deliver the control and consistency needed for top-tier competition. “Being part of the ROG mouse development was an incredible opportunity,” said Demon1. “I got to bring my experience as a pro directly into the design process—down to the shape, the clicks, the weight, everything. I’m genuinely excited for players to try it out, and I hope it becomes a go-to for pros who want gear that can keep up with them.”

Taking the iconic claw-grip shape of the ROG Harpe Ace Aim Lab Edition as a starting point, the refined silhouette of the Harpe II Ace better accommodates both claw and fingertip grips. The sidewalls of the mouse gently taper inwards, making the Harpe II Ace easier to lift, while a precisely-tuned incline from the buttons to the hump promotes better hand balance and stability. The slightly-lowered hump allows for finer micro-adjustments with fingertip grips, while still offering solid palm support for claw-style users. Lastly, the side buttons are positioned and angled to provide clear separation between the two, ensuring both are within easy reach of the thumb and reducing the chance of accidental mis-clicks.

The next-generation shell of the Harpe II Ace weighs just 48 grams and is 11% lighter than the Harpe Ace Aim Lab Edition. Made using castor oil instead of conventional petroleum, this bio-based nylon reduces the carbon footprint of each shell by 70% compared to regular nylon material. The internal structure has been strengthened to prevent sidewall flex, while the smooth, matte surface coating effectively manages sweat and grease to ensure a secure grip. Additionally, large PTFE mouse feet with rounded edges provide a smoother glide and better control compared to previous Harpe Ace models.

With ROG SpeedNova 8K wireless technology, the Harpe II Ace is the first gaming mouse that utilizes a next-gen MCU chip to offer real-time, ultrafast true wireless 8000Hz polling rate performance. Zone mode lets gamers get straight into competitive play by optimizing hardware settings, priming the Harpe II Ace for top-tier performance in an instant. Activating Zone Mode pushes the polling rate up to 8000Hz, ensures heightened responsiveness by staying in a permanent active state, conserves battery by switching off RGB lighting, and declutters data signals by disconnecting ROG Gear Link.

ROG Gear Link allows gamers to configure the Harpe II Ace via a web browser, without any software downloads. This makes setups easier for esports players who are constantly on the go or for those who play on various devices.

Along with the Harpe II Ace, the ROG Strix Ace XG248 gaming monitor also made its debut today at the ASUS booth at Computex. Equipped with a cutting-edge Super TN panel, the Strix Ace XG248 boasts an overclocked 610Hz refresh rate and an ultra-low 0.8ms input lag—setting a new standard for esports monitors.

ROG Sheath II XXL mouse pad

Measuring a massive 900 x 400 x 3mm, the ROG Sheath II XXL mouse pad offers more than enough space to accommodate gaming gear and peripherals. Its advanced cooling fabric enhances heat dissipation and improves cooling efficiency for more comfortable gaming experiences. This mouse pad has a nonslip rubber base that provides a firm grip on any surface, while durable anti-fray, narrow flat-stitched edges provide a smoother feel and minimal friction.

    Asus

ROG Courser and ROG Destrier Core gaming chairs

The ROG Courser gaming chair features the 90–155° Dynamic Synchronized Reclining system with constant back support, eliminating the overextended feeling on the back often experienced when reclining traditional gaming chairs. Equipped with 360° 4D armrests, the chair offers fully adjustable support to ensure optimal arm positioning for both mobile and desktop gaming. The ROG Courser’s 4D Adjustable Lumbar Support allows for both depth and height customization, letting players fine-tune the positioning for personalized, ergonomic support. The cold-pressed lumbar pad allows smooth airflow, plus an ultrawide 58cm seat and a magnetic detachable headrest, players are in for an immersive and comfortable experience. Additionally, the chair features premium transparent leatherette material with concealed RGB lighting strips that stay invisible when turned off for an elegant look.

The ROG Destrier Core is now available in Moonlight White, rounding out the ROG Moonlight White peripherals lineup for gamers looking to create sleek, clinical all-white setups. The Destrier Core has all the elements of an ergonomic gaming chair, a futuristic cyborg-inspired aesthetic, exceptional adjustability, and durable build quality. It features breathable mesh, a Nylon frame, adjustable headrest, lumbar support, and luxuriously-padded armrests that have a special elevation mode just for mobile gaming. In addition, the ROG Destrier Core offers optimal airflow to keep gamers comfortable during long hours of play.

    Partnership with Mathieu ZywOo Herbaut

An avid fan of the ROG Falchion Ace HFX magnetic switch keyboard, ZywOo is excited to be part of the ROG family to test and develop new ROG Ace products that give players an in-game advantage.

“I really like playing with my ROG Falchion Ace HFX,” says ZywOo. “It feels supersmooth and fast. The switches are the best I’ve used so far, and it just gives me a really good feeling when I play. That confidence makes a big difference.”

Now a member of Team Vitality, ZywOo is heralded as one of the best Counter-Strike 2 players in history, securing his 23rd MVP award at the BLAST Open Lisbon 2025, making him the record holder for most HLTV MVP medals won by a player.

    R.E.P.O. — game review

For those who played Dungeons & Dragons, you might be familiar with the alignment chart of Good/Neutral/Evil and Lawful/Neutral/Chaotic. Now, you might ask: what does this have to do with the survival horror multiplayer game R.E.P.O. (Retrieve, Extract, and Profit Operation)? For me, it (almost) perfectly fits the definition of Chaotic. My first impression of the game was that I would be scared and anxious the entire time, as many games in the survival horror genre tend to do, but I ended up having lots of fun, laughs, and, of course, learned a little something about my friends and even myself along the way.

R.E.P.O. is similar to Lethal Company in that you find items for money. Where it gained its unique status, however, is that its physics and monsters add a dose of comedy that is often lacking in this genre. At first, the game might appear like it belongs on the PlayStation 2 or any other early 2000s console, but numerous games go against the grain of graphics = good game, especially in an era where game development is more accessible to small indie companies that have found wild success with their creations (think Among Us and Stardew Valley).

You play as a semibot working for the Taxman, and you’re collecting enough items to advance to the next level and fill the Taxman’s coffers. If you’re playing with friends, proximity chat will give you and your five other friends a lesson in teamwork. The levels get more difficult as you go on, and the difficulty and variety of the enemies also increase. You can buy upgrades from the Service Station, such as increased speed, stamina, weapons, and more.

While playing, you’re avoiding enemies while collecting your items. You can kill them yourself with weapons, or simply pick them up and throw them into pits (a guaranteed one-shot kill), or use the environment. However, picking up enemies requires energy, and you may need your friends to help you kill enemies. You can also decrease the value of an item if you damage it, which makes teamwork very important if you want to get the most money for your items. This became especially apparent when I accidentally dropped plates. In addition, enemies respawn after a set amount of time, adding urgency (and anxiety) to your proverbial plate.

The art design is also rather varied. Some enemies include giant heads, people with sword arms, clowns, and more. Some are more aggressive than others, requiring you and your team to adjust accordingly. For example, the Huntsman is blind but can easily kill you if he can hear you, while the gnomes are fast and can make you drop items, yet are easily killed. One of the most annoying enemies is the Hidden, which is barely visible but can stun you and force you to drop items. The enemies might be scary to some, but I found myself laughing at the absurdity of the enemy design more than being scared or anxious, which is an interesting approach to a genre that relies on fear and scaring players.

As of this writing, the game is still in Early Access on Steam, with developer Semiwork hinting at future collaborations as well as adding content to the game such as expressions for your semibots. What I thought was silly turned into hours of fun and mayhem with friends and complete strangers, and R.E.P.O.’s replay value should continue to increase with updates and the collaborations that will be coming in the future.

The Foundation AI team today released the first open-source reasoning model built specifically for enhancing security applications. They will also debut novel benchmarks to evaluate cybersecurity models on real-world security use cases, plus additional tools and building blocks for teams to leverage in adapting the models. These models and tools will encourage collaboration among first-class security experts and machine learning engineers, while delivering essential infrastructure that cybersecurity teams can immediately leverage.

Additionally, a new set of AI Supply Chain Risk Management security controls will help customers secure AI application artifacts. Even before deploying models in production, enterprises are exposed to security vulnerabilities, like malware in AI model files and poisoned data sets, that are downloadable from open-source repositories. By combining AI model threat assessment and detection with comprehensive network enforcement, enterprises can confidently accelerate their AI adoption and innovation. This includes identifying and blocking malicious AI model files before they enter the enterprise; automatically detecting and blocking AI model files with risky or restrictive open-source software licenses that pose intellectual property and compliance risks; and flagging and enforcing policies against AI models originating from prohibited suppliers.

Krizia Taxi enhances coverage and efficiency with Hytera PoC communication solution

Hytera, a leading global provider of professional communications technologies and solutions, has successfully deployed a Push-to-Talk over Cellular (PoC) communication system for Krizia Taxi Company, one of the prominent taxi operators in Davao City, Philippines. Leveraging Hytera’s HyTalk PoC platform and rugged PoC radios, the company has made significant improvement in dispatch efficiency, regional coverage, and customer experience.

Krizia Taxi previously operated on an aging analog radio system that suffered from frequent signal dropouts, high maintenance costs, and lacked essential location tracking capabilities. As the business grew and customer expectations evolved, the company recognized the need for a modern solution that could support real-time location services, reliable voice communication, and simplified fleet management.

Hytera delivered a complete end-to-end PoC solution, including the HyTalk management platform and its PNC360S and PNC380 hand portable PoC devices. The solution leverages existing mobile networks and local Wi-Fi infrastructure, enabling Krizia Taxi to eliminate the cost and complexity of installing and maintaining radio repeaters. The transition to PoC allowed dispatchers to communicate instantly with drivers across the entire Davao Region, monitor fleet activity in real time, and streamline ride allocation. During the implementation, Hytera’s local distributor, VMO Enterprises, provided driver training and offered ongoing support to ensure smooth use of the dispatch system.

“As someone involved in the taxi industry, I can personally attest to the transformative impact that two-way radios have on our operations,” said Ryan Sia, owner of Krizia Taxi Company. “Hytera’s solution has empowered our team with reliable, instant communication and improved safety features, which are vital to both our drivers and passengers.”

The PoC radios come with loud and clear audio optimized for noisy environments, built-in GPS tracking, and emergency alert features. Built to military-grade durability standards, the devices withstand tough field conditions, helping reduce equipment turnover and operational costs.

Since implementing Hytera’s solution in 2023, Krizia Taxi has significantly reduced wait times and seen a marked improvement in dispatcher responsiveness. The enhanced coordination and efficiency have translated directly into improved customer satisfaction and business growth.

By adopting Hytera’s PoC solution, Krizia Taxi has not only overcome the limitations of its previous analog system but also unlocked new levels of operational efficiency and service responsiveness. For service-driven transport providers operating across dynamic and challenging terrains, Hytera’s scalable, cost-effective PoC technology offers a compelling path to digital transformation.

DoubleVerify releases Global Insights report on the state of streaming in 2025

DoubleVerify, a leading software platform for digital media measurement, data, and analytics, has released its latest report, DV Global Insights: Trends in the Modern Streaming Landscape, offering an in-depth look at the state of streaming TV advertising in 2025. Drawing from DV’s proprietary measurement data and a global consumer survey of 22,000 viewers, the report explores how consumer behavior and advertising performance are evolving across the rapidly growing connected TV (CTV) ecosystem.

In 2024, DV’s CTV impression volume increased by 66% year-over-year, reflecting both the scale and importance of the medium for advertisers. Yet, DV’s research also underscores the significant challenges still facing the industry — the lack of app transparency, persistent viewability blind spots, and high rates of sophisticated invalid traffic (SIVT), including bot fraud.

“CTV has become a centerpiece of digital video strategy with huge growth potential for both branding and performance campaigns,” said Mark Zagorski, CEO of DoubleVerify. “It is still a maturing medium, however, and this report highlights the very real challenges inherent in that evolution. A lack of transparency, an increase in rogue behavior, and the lack of industry operational standards create an environment in which media waste is becoming a growing issue. These are challenges that a combination of technology innovation plus industry collaboration can address to the advantage of all advertisers.”

Key findings from DV’s report on streaming include:

    • CTV ad impression volumes rose 66% year-over-year, with particularly strong growth in markets such as the Netherlands, Indonesia, and Singapore.
    • Only 50% of CTV impressions offered full app transparency in 2024, creating significant blind spots for marketers.
    • “TV Off” remains a widespread issue, where ads continue to play even after the TV screen has been turned off. Without proper safeguards, this and other media quality issues in CTV cost advertisers an average of USD700,000 in wasted spend per billion impressions.
    • Bot fraud accounts for 65% of all CTV fraud, with 4 million infected devices generating fake traffic daily, costing advertisers millions in wasted spend each month.
    DoubleVerify

The report also examines how consumer preferences are shaping the streaming ad experience. According to DV’s survey, 41% of consumers now prefer ad-supported video over paid subscriptions, with long-form content (like TV shows and podcasts) offering stronger environments for brand-building than short-form platforms do. Importantly, 64% of viewers say the genre of content impacts how they perceive ads and brands, reinforcing the need for contextual ad alignment.

Later in the report, DV reveals findings from a separate global survey of nearly 2,000 marketers, which explores how advertisers are adapting their streaming strategies in light of these challenges. The marketer study dives into CTV spending trends, barriers to growth, and increasing demand for transparency, measurement, and brand suitability.

Key data points from the marketer poll reveal:

    • 72% of marketers say ads placed in CTV environments outperform their campaign baselines, underscoring the channel’s strong perceived ROI.
    • At the same time, 68% of marketers say they must have transparency to justify the high cost of CTV advertising, signaling a clear demand for better visibility into where ads are running.
    • Additionally, 63% of marketers say it’s difficult to tell whether their CTV buys are actually reaching real viewers, a concern compounded by ongoing issues like “TV Off” scenarios and inconsistent viewability standards.
    • Despite these challenges, 54% of marketers increased their CTV spend over the past year, and 66% of non-CTV advertisers plan to begin investing in the channel in the next 12 months, illustrating both optimism and urgency around getting measurement right.

As the industry moves into the 2025 Upfront and NewFront season, DV continues to invest in measurement, fraud protection, and innovative attention metrics to help advertisers maximize the impact of their media buys.Visit DV’s website to download the full report.

NLEX fosters collaboration through Inter-agency Flood Mitigation Forum

Flooding poses a major transport challenge during the rainy season. While road repairs and blockages can be managed through rerouting, major floods halt mobility until the waters subsides.
Addressing this issue requires collective action. Everyone is responsible, as individual actions impact entire communities and livelihoods. This fueled NLEX Corporation to organize the Inter-agency Flood Mitigation Forum 2025 to foster cooperation and increase awareness of sustainable flood prevention solutions.

The forum brought together representatives from the cities of Quezon, Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas, Valenzuela, Manila, Meycauayan, the municipalities of Obando and Marilao, and the Bulacan Provincial Government with partner government agencies, the DILG, Office of Civil Defense, MMDA, DENR, DPWH, DOTr, and TRB, and experts from UP’s National Hydraulic Research Center and AMH Philippines.

“The flooding issue is a difficult challenge, and we, at NLEX Corp., are mindful of our responsibility to operate and maintain our expressways to ensure the unhampered flow of people and goods. That’s why we brought together our partner agencies and LGUs to find real, workable solutions to flooding in our communities,” said Jennifer Jane Go, NLEX VP for asset management.

Through constructive discussion, they identified that solid waste significantly contributes to flooding, and maintaining clean waterways is one of the most immediate and effective solutions.

AMH Philippines stressed the need for cooperation among LGUs, pointing out that stormwater flows across boundaries and requires a harmonized approach to flood control.

Marilao Municipal Administrator Froilan Angeles underscored the role of bayanihan in addressing the issue. “Ang basura ang isa sa dahilan ng pagbaha. Matagal na po natin itong gustong ma-address pero kailangan ang full cooperation at participation ng lahat,” he said.

Other LGUs also shared their struggles in maintaining clean waterways. The forum enabled participants to exchange ideas, offer real-time feedback, and explore joint solutions prioritizing sustainability.

Among the pledged support are the installation of trash traps and the deployment of additional Estero rangers from the DENR, and closer coordination and monitoring with concerned barangays through the DILG.

Engr. Joselito Cantillon of the Valenzuela City Flood Control Division also suggested long term solutions to address the issue. “Mag-invest sa heavy equipment kagaya ng para sa dredging. Pwede ring tumulong si DPWH na mag-design ng river wall at maglagay ng port area para daanan ng heavy equipment. Reviewing city ordinances would also help,” Engr. Cantillon said.

The Inter-agency Flood Mitigation Forum 2025 was filled with insightful ideas. Roderick Tongol, Head of Malabon Disaster Risk Reduction Management, expressed his appreciation for the event. “Nagpapasalamat po kami sa forum na ito dahil itong issue na sinusubukan nating i-solve ay hindi  kayang solusyonan ng isang city lang. Kailangan talaga na magsama-sama lahat ang mga lugar na apektado nito,” he said.

    Flood Mitigation

“We share the same environment. Kung ano ang makakaapekto sa Malabon, sa Caloocan, sa Valenzuela, ay makakaapekto rin sa amin. This forum allows us to strengthen our partnership and look for best practices to come up with solutions. Maaaring may solution na sila na maaaring i-implement sa amin, at ‘yong solution namin ay maaari rin nilang magamit,” said Dr. Vonne Villanueva, City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer of Navotas City.

By the end of the Inter-agency Flood Mitigation Forum 2025, participants pledged to clean waterways before the onset of the rainy season and committed to share information with their communities and work closely with LGUs and relevant agencies for effective implementation.

The Inter-agency Flood Mitigation Forum 2025 is an initial step towards a broader plan for crafting and executing sustainable solutions. Participants will reconvene to track progress and refine the next phases of implementation.

Smart interior design tips for a modern gadget room

Whether you’re a gamer, work from home employee, or just a self-styled gadget junkie, a dedicated gadget room can be a life-changer.

It’s more than just a room where your gadgets reside. It’s your office, entertainment hub, and maybe even your own retreat. But as your gadget collection grows, things tend to get sloppy fast.

That’s when intelligent interior design comes into play. An intelligently designed gadget room will both look breathtaking and be even more functional.

From lighting and floor layout to storage space and furniture, it’s a way of designing a sleek, clean, and completely technology-friendly space.

Here’s a step-by-step guide to some clever interior design tips that can help you transform any room into a productive tech heaven—Filipino-style.

    gadget room

    1. Start with the layout: Design around the tech

The layout is the foundation of your gadget space. Start out by deciding on the general function of the room, whether it will serve as a workspace, gaming area, creative space, or all of the above. Next, design your layout based on your most-used gadgets.

    • Power availability is crucial. Place your desk or workspace close to outlets and keep space available for surge protectors and cable management.
    • Make it mobile. Modular furniture allows you to rearrange the space according to your configuration. Mobile shelving, folding desks, and catered carts are wonderful alternatives.
    • Hog your walls. Floating shelves, accessory pegboards, and wall-mounted monitors can keep your floor clear while highlighting your equipment.

And don’t forget to warm up the space visually. Start by grounding your design with stylish area rugs for any space. Rugs cut echo, define your zones visually, and keep the overall look sleek, perfect for weighing slimmed-down tech against coziness.

Extra Tip: Use painter’s tape to set your layout before deciding on furniture placement. This can save you more time and effort in moving heavy objects.

    2. Use furniture that works with your devices

Furniture is not only for sitting and stashing stuff; it also needs to support and protect your tech setups. Here are a few to consider for your space:

    • Cable management that comes included with desks does you the favor of keeping cables neat and untangled chargers.
    • Media consoles that incorporate hidden storage compartments are ideal for hiding routers, charging stations, and smart hubs.
    • USB outlets or wireless charging-capable side tables turn recharging your phone into as simple a gesture as setting it down.

For small rooms, go vertical. Shelves high up and wall storage can hold anything from laptops to gaming consoles without taking up precious floor space.

Additionally, see if there are any local brands like Mandaue Foam where you can check out the furniture in person. Make sure the dimensions fit into the space, and remember to leave enough allowance for cables and cords.

    3. Lighting that supports both mood and tech

Lighting can either make or ruin a room. If you’re considering a multi-purpose room, consider lighting that does double duty, including task and ambient light that adjusts to whatever you’re doing.

    • Install smart bulbs so you can adjust brightness and color temperature through an app or voice commands. This is particularly convenient when transitioning from work to play.
    • Buy cool-toned lighting for working and warm-toned lighting if you need to relax.
    • Add accent lighting behind TVs or under PC monitors to provide a cozy glow, ideal for watching movies or playing games.
    • For content creation, make use of ring lights or task lamps with variable brightness and color.

To make your life easier, consider smart plugs and automation routines that turn lights on or off automatically according to your schedule.

    4. Stay organized with hidden storage solutions

Gadgets usually come with included accessories, and if you have many accessories, that also means a mess unless you plan ahead.

    • Install floating shelves and desk-side drawers to keep the essentials within reach without covering your surface.
    • Tie up loose wires with cable sleeves, Velcro straps, or cord clips.
    • Add rolling carts to help with organizing frequently used items without making a mess when taking them in or out.
    • For tablets, external drives, or spare keyboards, use vertical desk organizers to save space.
    • If you want to liven up your setup, you can use locally made baskets or wooden storage containers, as they are both functional and aesthetically pleasing.

NOTE: Space organization does not necessarily have to be dull or boring. Incorporate it into the room’s decor so that it’s seamless and aesthetic.

    5. Embrace minimalist design principles

When it comes to a gadget room, a general rule is that less is more. Minimal chic keeps your room lively and keeps you focused on work or your next ranked match.

    • Use a neutral color scheme with one or two dominant colors, such as black and wood tones, and one splash of neon or chrome.
    • Restrict surface clutter. Only keep in the open what you frequently use, and hide the rest.
    • Select tech-friendly table finishes such as properly finished wood or a hard resin surface. This will prevent scratches or cracking on both your gadgets and the table.

Also, try to group devices with similar looks or functions together to reduce the amount of movement needed in your room.

For instance, those matte black headphones look so much better next to your matte black speaker than in the corner of the room away from it, plus you can reach it right away.

    6. Add comfort without sacrificing functionality

You’ll probably be sitting for hours on end at your battle station, so long-term comfort is as important as the room’s appearance.

    • Invest some money in a proper ergonomic chair with adjustable armrests.
    • Include a height-adjustable desk if you want to switch between sitting and standing throughout the day.
    • Incorporate comfortable items such as bean bags, footrests, or even a recliner if space allows.
    • Use soft throw blankets, blackout curtains, or acoustic panels to make the space relaxing and sound-absorptive.
    • Pick materials appropriate for our hot and humid climate—air-porous cotton, mesh, or linen upholstery reduces heating and promotes airflow.

Prioritizing your comfort translates to increased productivity for work, (hopefully) better gaming performance, coding, or even just binge-watching your favorite TV show.

    7. Smart home features for convenience

Want next-gen voice-controlled tech vibes? Automate your life by using smart accessories and systems for less hassle.

    • Use smart plugs on lights, fans, or even your coffee machine to reduce energy usage.
    • Get a Google Home, Alexa, or Apple HomePod to voice-command your environment.
    • Install motion sensor-activated lights that turn on when you enter a room and turn off when you leave.
    • Use your smart appliances to create an automated routine, like a “Work Mode” that turns on the white lights, turns on your monitor, and closes the blinds.
    • If you’re new to smart home tech and want to get started without spending a lot of money, try out smart kits from Mi Home, Bardi, or Globe At Home.

If you properly install these smart home items, you’ll free up a lot of time in your routines, which you can then use for more productive activities.

    Conclusion

A complete gadget room needs to incorporate three functions: stylish, functional, and cozy. It’s not about flaunting your gadgets, it’s about making the room fit your workflow.

Every element of the room, from intelligent furniture and lighting to storage and automation, should help you focus less on fixing things and more on work or play.

Start small with lighting and configuration tweaks. Then, gradually evolve your setup using tech-ready furniture, hidden storage units, and integrating smart home features. Whether you want to set up a high-end gaming command center battle station or a cozy productivity work nook, your gadget room should first fit your needs.
