Mobile music is great, but there are just those days that your regular playlist can’t handle. You could switch to the radio, but who can bear all the ads and the occasional insufferable DJ? Residents in the US have their streaming radio stations, but living in the sunny Philippines means we’re left out. Smart has heard your plea, and right on the heels of their successful Smart Music launch earlier this year, they are now offering a streaming service of their own in the form of SPINNR.
SPINNR is the first unlimited music streaming service in the company at very affordable rates. With SPINNR, subscribers can subscribe to packages that open up a world of over three MILLION songs from the catalogs of worldwide music leaders MCA Music, Inc. (internationally known as Universal Music Group, Inc.); and Sony Music Entertainment, through a partnership with local licensee Ivory Music and Video.
The service costs all of PHP15 for two whole weeks of streaming, and if you think about it, a buck a day isn’t really that bad for a service such as this. As a bonus, subscribers to the SPINNR Plus package also get a 20% discount for full song downloads.
The app also suggests music based on the tracks you listen to, so you won’t ever have to worry about running out of tracks to listen to.
It’s nice to see a service like this finally hit the local market, and with the reach and network behind Smart, it should see quite a bit of traction. While the service is paid, it’s hardly an amount, particularly for those who have the data connection but not necessarily the large library of music.
SPINNR is offering first-time users to enjoy unlimited music streaming at no cost for their first 15 days. Registration is open to all Smart, Talk ‘N Text and Sun Cellular subscribers via web or mobile browser or via the app from Google Play. To register, simply go to spinnr.ph.
