Team Odicion leader Philippe Bautista makes his pitch before the participants and judges of the 4th edition of Startup Weekend
Armed with the idea of an online music collaboration platform that utilizes multi-tracking to allow musicians to work together to create music remotely via social networking, Team Odicion was able to best 19 other participating teams in the 4th edition of Startup Weekend Manila, which was recently held at Mint College.
“Granted that there are musicians who can play a lot of instruments, there are still musicians who have a limited number of skills. There are also some musicians who look for musicians so they can create something new and different. These are reasons for the practice of musicians of looking for others they can collaborate with. But no matter how big a musician’s network, there will always be limitations to that brought on by factors such as history and geographical area,” said Philippe Bautista, Team Leader of Team Odicion.
Bautista added, “By being able to collaborate with all musicians around the world, we are able to create real world music.”
Team Odicion is composed of Philippe Bautista, a composer for film, TV, and other multimedia under the outfit MasterScore Music Productions; Mony Romana, a music business teacher; John “JT” Flameño, a musician and graphic designer; Yhanco Grey “Ygee” Esteban, the back-end developer; and Joanna Empit, a graphic designer and front-end developer.
Bautista claims that even if the 4th edition of Startup Weekend has already come to a close, Team Odicion will remain together to push the project forward.
Startup Weekend is a 54-hour hackathon and pitching competition organized by Kickstart Ventures, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Globe Telecom, together with web engineering firms Proudcloud and Dynamic Obix and MINT College, where aspiring technopreneurs are given the chance to form teams and pitch their business ideas in the field of digital applications.
