The former ASEAN enterprise commercial director will lead Microsoft’s local business with a focus on AI, cloud adoption, skilling, and responsible technology deployment.

Microsoft has appointed Caroline Foo as Country General Manager for the Philippines, bringing more than 25 years of technology leadership experience to the role.

Foo moves into the position from her previous role as Enterprise Commercial Director for ASEAN, where she led commercial and sales organizations across the region. That experience gave her a broad view of Microsoft’s customers, partners, and business across Southeast Asia, which the company is now looking to bring into its next phase of growth in the Philippines.

Focusing on AI and cloud adoption

As country general manager, Foo will lead Microsoft’s Philippine business with a focus on accelerating AI and cloud adoption across the economy. Her priorities also include helping organizations move from individual AI experimentation toward broader enterprise transformation, while expanding AI skilling and supporting responsible adoption built on secure and well-governed technology foundations.

Microsoft said the appointment reinforces its long-term commitment to the Philippines as one of the faster-moving AI markets in Southeast Asia. The company continues to work with government, enterprises, startups, and partners to expand access to technology, strengthen local capabilities, and support digital and economic development.

The company also cited findings from its 2026 Work Trend Index, which found that 25% of Filipino workers qualify as Frontier Professionals, Microsoft’s most advanced category of AI users, compared with a global average of 16%.

“The Philippines has the talent, the ambition and the digital momentum to lead in the AI era,” said Mayank Wadhwa, president of Microsoft ASEAN.

“The opportunity now is to help organizations match that ambition with trusted foundations, strong governance and the skills to translate AI innovation into lasting economic and social impact. Caroline knows our customers, our partners and our business across ASEAN, and I have every confidence in her ability to lead this next chapter for Microsoft Philippines.”

Turning AI momentum into outcomes

Foo said the opportunity in the Philippines goes beyond the pace of AI adoption and extends to how organizations apply the technology.

“The Philippines is one of the most inspiring markets in our region. What gives me optimism is not just the pace of AI adoption, but the thoughtfulness behind it,” she said.

“Across conversations with customers, partners and leaders, I see a genuine desire to harness technology in a way that amplifies human potential, strengthens trust, and creates lasting impact. The real opportunity is not AI itself. It is what people can achieve with it.”

Foo added that her role will include helping customers and partners access the technology, skills, and support needed to turn AI ambitions into measurable outcomes while widening the benefits of adoption across organizations, communities, and learners in the Philippines.

The appointment comes as Microsoft continues to position AI and cloud infrastructure as central to its growth strategy in the country, with skills development and governance playing a larger role alongside technology deployment.
